But her brain was thinking: No! No! Don't go back to Cloud Boom. She's useless! Screech. Snow Dust kept on flying. She didn't notice. Screech. The sound was closer this time. But Snow Dust still didn't notice. Then pain shot through her body. A loose chariot had slammed into her, crushing her against a storm cloud. Thunder roared in her ears, Snow Dust's wings bleeding. And there she was. Falling, falling...I am falling. Those were her last thoughts as she blacked out. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: It's All My Fault //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: It's All My Fault Cloud Boom sat on the couch, eating her muffin. Knock-knock. Cloud Boom got up lazily, grunting with effort for each step. Her vision was blurred and she was dizzy. "Who is it?" Cloud Boom hollered. Knock-knock. "Come in! The door's unlocked!" "I'm blind you stupid filly." "I'm not a filly! Besides, I think you can find the door yourself." The voice grunted. "Okay, okay. Fine," Cloud Boom place her hoof on the knob, slowly turning it. "Just open it already! What are you waiting for?!" The voice screeched. The door swung open. "Finally. I was going to tell you something very important. It's about your friend," The pony was yellow, her brown hair shining in the sunlight. "I can see you look different than other ponies," Cloud Boom blurted accidentally. "Are you talking about my hooves or my eyes?" the pony questioned. "That doesn't matter," Cloud Boom said, looking at the pony's spotted hooves. "So...what is it about Snow Dust?" "My name is Silent Wings, and your friend? Well, she got into an accident in the sky," Silent Wings replied calmly. "What happened to her?!" Cloud Boom asked, panic rising in her chest. "Let's go to the hospital and see," Silent Wings thrust Cloud Boom forward. "What happened to my friend?!" Silent Wings didn't reply to Cloud Boom's furious screams while she carried Cloud Boom to the hospital.                                                                                         *** "Snow Dust is still resting, so shh," Nurse Redheart stepped into the waiting room, a scared expression on her face. "Okay," Cloud Boom glared into the nurse's eyes. "Cloud Boom! You're scaring her!" Lily Bloom, one of the other nurses growled. "I am not!" Cloud Boom smacked Lily Bloom in the face knocking her backward. "O-ow!" Lily Bloom let out a whimper. "I'm sorry...it's just...it's all my fault," Cloud Boom murmured. "I-I'm fine," Nurse Redheart blinked sympathetically at Cloud Boom. "I know how it feels." "J-just leave me and Snow Dust alone in peace." "Okay, but if you need anything, tell me or Lily Bloom." Cloud Boom nodded. When she finally closed the door behind her, she saw it. Snow Dust's head was heavily bandaged. As well as her wings and hooves. Her long mane was coming down her neck. "Oh no," Cloud Boom sobbed. "Oh my Celestia, no!" Cloud Boom saw Snow Dust's eyes open. Snow Dust placed her hoof on the bedside table. Her hoof pranced along the table all the way to the opposite side of her bed. She was acting like a little filly. "Hello," Cloud Boom murmured. "Hi," Snow Dust's voice came out awkward. "Do you remember me?" Cloud Boom asked eagerly. "No. Do I remember you," Snow Dust glanced at Cloud Boom. "You did," Cloud Boom blinked. "My name is Cloud Boom. Do you remember your name?" "No," Snow Dust repeated. "We were best friends," Cloud Boom started crying. "Why are you crying?" Snow Dust put her hoof on Cloud Boom's head. Cloud Boom was silent for a moment, then she cried again. "You are my best friend," Snow Dust whispered, then she leaned back thoughtfully. "What is a friend?" //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Friendship Breaks Apart //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Friendship Breaks Apart "Cloud Boom! I'm home! Did you see the picture that I got from-" Snow Dust's sentence was cut off with a gasp. The paper shopping bag dropped, a container of muffins tumbling out. Snow Dust's gaze was laid on the shattered pieces of a family picture. "Um...that was my fault," Cloud Boom's shivering voice said. "Wha- who? That-that's," Snow Dust's jaw dropped. "I'm sorry! I was eating a muffin and- and- I was reading a comic book, so I accidentally knocked the table over-" Cloud Boom looked into Snow Dust's eyes. The lime green eyes were blazing. "I can't believe you! I went all the way to Cloudsdale to get them...they were hiding in the abandoned house my family used to live in. Those were the only memories left I had of my family!" Snow Dust slammed her hoof into the soft cloud floor. "I said: I'm sorry! Didn't you hear me?" Cloud Boom shot back. "You little-" Snow Dust stopped. She fell silent, and slammed the door behind her. "Idiot!" 'Idiot' was the last thing Cloud Boom heard before Snow Dust disappeared. "What," Cloud Boom whispered softly as she fell to the ground. "have I done." Guilt worked it's way into her body. Shivering, Cloud Boom got up, grabbed a muffin from the fridge, sat down onto the couch and thought about Snow Dust taking care of her when she was sick. Snow Dust was not the mare Cloud Boom had seen just a few minutes ago. The way her green eyes sparkled with warmth when Cloud Boom were friends with her, had turn into angry, blazing eyes. No...this can't be happening... Cloud Boom thought. This is just a mother bucking dream!
