It was just another peaceful, dark night in Ponyville, the time when all the town would usually would be asleep, but today was different. It was Hearts and Hooves Day - The day when happy couples would express their love for one another. But as for Twilight, seeing as she had no special-some-pony, she spent her night inside, beside the fire and a pile of some of her favorite books to keep her occupied. The fire was cozy, and the inside of the library was dimly lit by fireflies in lanterns, giving a soothing and relaxing atmosphere to suite the special occasion. She lay beside the fire, continuing reading one of her favorite books, known as Daring Do and The Sapphire Statue. As she was reading it, something rather unexpected happened that interrupted the peaceful silence that she was ever so enjoying.
Rainbow Dash landed next to her with a loud thud after quietly flying in from one of Twilight's windows. She blew a playful raspberry at Twilight, causing her to giggle, though her current appearance was kind of odd. Twilight turned back to the book, Rainbow looking at it as she read the words silently in her head. She looked back to Twilight, thinking of something she had always wanted to do since the day she'd met her. After all, it was Hearts and Hooves Day...
She quietly scooted closer to Twilight, checking to make sure she didn't see her move before doing the same again. Again and again until she was just a few centimeters apart from touching her, giving away the fact she had moved closer. a lot closer.
She cautiously looked at the lavender unicorn and back at her book that she was currently reading before making her next, risky move.
Dash blushed a small bit as she pretended to stretch her tired limbs out and just as she went back down to lay on her chest, she extended out her left wing, so it would go over Twilight's back when she did lay back down. And she did, sending her blush ever so deeper a shade of crimson. Twilight stared at her, looking at her wing and Rainbow Dash a few times. She was now so close to Rainbow that she could feel her warm breath against her cheek and neck, as well as the soft and comfortable touch of her rainbow mane.
''Dash, what are you-''
She was cut off by Rainbow planting a small kiss to her cheek, sending a deep, crimson hear to her cheeks. She looked into Rainbow's eyes, thinking about what had just happened. Her ears gently plopped down on the back of her head, and Rainbow still held that sweet, beautiful smile along with her blush as the moment passed.
No,no,no! She didn't like the kiss! Oh! That was so uncool...why did I do that?!
''I...uh...gotta go!'' Rainbow said hurriedly, giving no time for Twilight to respond, Rainbow flared out her wings and darted for the window she came into the library from. Now back alone, Twilight blushed deeper as she realized what Rainbow was trying to do. She was trying to say that she loved her. The thought made her cheeks burn intensely as she put a hoof to where Dash had kissed her. She smiled.
Up the stairs, Rainbow pushed open the window she came in from, hanging her head down as a tear fell from her eye.
Don't let her see you cry, Rainbow. Don't let her see you cry...crying is something you don't do, Dash. Crying is for losers...
She was about to jump from the window and fly off into the beautiful, cold night when all of a sudden, a magical field of purple glow grasped at her tail, making her fall down to her chin, making her yelp a bit in pain. She tried to get out of the grasp of magic, afraid that Twilight was going to do something such as punishment for her actions, but eventually, she gave in and found herself being levitated down the stairs of the upper lever of the library back down next to the cackling fireplace and in front of Twilight.
She looked at Rainbow, noticing the sparkle in her beautiful, magenta eyes as she saw her hide her face away in shame as he ears flopped down on her head. Her shame was soon comforted by Twilight's hoof being felt under her chin and tilting her head up so she made eye contact with her friend. She looked back at Twilight, not knowing what she was going to do, then...Twilight leaned forward, touching and locking lips with the cyan Pegasus. Her wings immediately flung open, her brain trying to process the quickly passing moment. After a few seconds Twilight broke away from the kiss, looking her back in the eyes, seeing them sparkle a little brighter in the moonlight. In a sort period of silence, Dash blushed heavily and brightly as she moved in, returning the kiss by planting her lips against hers, making nearly inaudible moaning sounds as their tongues danced passionately with one another.
They both laid beside the fire after a while of sharing passionate kisses with each other and soon found themselves hugging together comfortably as they basked in the warm and inviting glow of the fire. Dash held her hooves around Twilight's chest, Twilight doing the same as she cuddled into Rainbow's mane, enjoying the comfy feeling of it. Dash leaned against Twilight's side, her head being rested on Twilight's. They both cuddled all night, holding each other close and not letting either one go from their grasp as they watched the fire crackle and burn intensely. Twilight was half asleep when Rainbow leaned down next to her ear and said the words she had always wanted to say.
''Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Twilight. I love you.''
In her half asleep state, Twilight smiled as she said the words back.
''Happy Hearts and Hooves Day, Rainbow. I love you, too.''
