And I stood idly by and watched as the Covenant razed the city to the ground. I haven't even set foot not three days ago and I saw it in the distance. I did not know how long I stood there. My eyes studied the wrecked megacity. I felt my hand go to a pouch on my left, slowly inching towards the pocket. I quickly withdrew it back to its original position. I held my MA5B in my hands and stiffened when I heard a familiar sound behind me: a Covenant Dropship. I spun around and ran for cover. I had no one left. No one in my squad, no friendlies nearby, just me. In my mind, I was ready to be put on my path. My path to heaven. Or Hell. I know I won't survive this battle, nor do I intend to. I just want to fight to ensure that Earth is carefully guarded by any remaining soldiers, ODSTs or SPARTANs left on Reach. I doubt that there is still any troops here, but I just hope if there is, they'll fight with all the fibers of our beings. 'One hand on the trigger, One hand on the Cross, Jesus set his family on both things he's lost.' I whispered quietly to myself. I was ready to fight, ready to die. I am probably listed as MIA by now due to the many days I was missing. I heard several alien voices and footsteps. They knew I was here. I popped out of cover and fire a burst of 7.68mm death at the first Sanghelli. And I fired another burst, depleting it's shields and I took the killing blow. The rest of the Elites came rushing to my position while firing their Plasma Rifles and Repeaters. I lobbed a grenade and ran to a different position, blind firing the MA5B. A beam of plasma hit my thigh, causing me to fall to the ground. I assumed the grenade killed a couple as I heard few less footsteps towards me. They gave a grim laugh. The leader, a Zealot, walked towards me, Energy Sword drawn. It spoke in its native language, the words unfamiliar to me. Then, it said something that took me by surprise. "Prepare to burn in the depths of hell, Heretic." It spoke as it raised its sword to finish me. I felt a burst of adrenaline as I charged forward and plunged my multi-purpose knife into it's neck. I ripped it out and took the sword from it's hand. I drew it and charged at the next Elite. And the next, and the next after that. I have killed at least five Elites, each lying motionlessly on the ground. The last one dropped its Plasma Repeater and drew it's own sword, the aqua blue blade materializing into shape. It charged in full of zeal and we clashed blades. We continued slashing and stabbing each other but no results. I had a lucky break and I slashed off one of it's legs. It yelled in pain and it sat on the ground, dropping it's energy sword. I walked to it to finish the honorable opponent. There I stood, above the Sanghelli, sword ready to be plunged into it's chest. Then I felt a sharp pain in my gut. And there was my knife, grip sticking out of my stomach. I plunged the sword into the Elite and fell down onto my back. It was only a short amount of time until i saw the Covenant Super-Carrier charge up it's laser, then the glassing started. The oncoming wave of heat was on it's way to kill me. Then suddenly, I felt like I was falling. Then I didn't feel anything else after that. I just saw a brilliant white light. I'm coming home, Jade. Daddy's coming home.'
