Amnesia: Daniel's adventure in Equestria

Brennenburg part 2

Previous Chapter

After moving on from the dark room where he'd thought he heard Fluttershy, Daniel stumbled into a long hallway. He looked both ways, it looked as though the hall went on forever. He couldn't see the end on both sides. He chose a direction, and cautiously trotted down the hallway. The sound of rats, scurrying down the hallway was the most common sound he heard down his long walk down the hallway. The stone walls were cracked, and leaking water. The wooden floors were rotten, and creaked when he stepped on them. Shadows covered everything except for Daniel's close vicinity, because of the small wax candle he took with him,

After 20 long minutes he reached the end of the hallway, and at the end was a small painting of Alexander.

"Nonononononono, this can't be all it is! who would make a mile long corridor just for some painting?" Daniel panicked quietly. "Unless..."

Daniel put his hoof above the painting and started to pull on it. He was struggling to pull the painting from the wall, finally, he heard a 'CHU-CHUNK' of a contraption being activated. He dropped the painting, and stepped back, he expected the painting to explode, or the walls to cave in, but no, the ending wall that had the painting on it, slowly started to drop, revealing a secret extra room.

Daniel, with care, slowly stepped into the barely lit room. He heard what sounded like a gatherer off in the distance, and immediately started scanning the room for hiding places. There was a bed big enough to fit under, a big knocked over dresser, and a trapdoor that had a huge silver lock on it.

Daniel heard another, closer gatherer roar, and quickly slid under the bed. He blew out the candle too. He didn't want to, because of his fear of the dark, but to insure survival, he must.

He squinted his eyes so he could see out from under the bed, and into the long hallway. He could barely make out the shape of a dismembered, mutilated body. A gatherer. Daniel closed his eyes, and imagined he was back in Ponyville, back with the ponies that helped him.

Daniel opened his eyes again to see the feet of the gatherer standing at the entrance of the room. The gatherer grunted again, then turned and wandered off.

After the monster was far enough away, Daniel pushed himself out from under the bed. He trotted over to the lock, and looked to see if it was a padlock, or a combination lock. It was a padlock, so Daniel immediately started searching the room for anything to unlock/destroy the obstacle.

For the first time, Daniel had a good look around the room, the bed was in the corner, and in the opposite corner was the padlocked trap door, then there was a bookshelf, then a small table with a few tinderboxes on it. He used one to relight the candle.

BACK IN PONYVILLE

Daring do ran into the town she had seen earlier. Panting. It was the middle of the night, so no one was outside to see the monster chasing her. She saw a small building and fuckin' ninja'd up to it by sprinting up to a park bench that was near it, and kicking off of it to boost her jumping distance.

She landed on top of the building with a 'THUNK' and looked back over the side to see if the  monster was still right behind her... There. Was. Nothing.

Had she gone crazy? Did she just imagine the monster in the woods? She honestly doubted it, but something in her hoped that it was all just a crazy insane drug trip she suddenly went on.

BACK IN BRENNENBURG

Daniel kept looking around the room, hoping that the huge goddamned corridor that he had just taken the 20 minutes to walk down was worth it. I mean, he was a busy man, after all. He stood up on his hind legs and reached above the bookshelf. He felt something cold, and heavy, and managed to pull it down. He was happy to see that it was a large, silver key. He sighed, and stuck it in the lock, and twisted it. With a small cranking sound that came from the lock, the trap door opened. To his own horror, under the trapdoor was a ladder leading down into a very dark room.

He could barely see what was down there, but there really wasn't any choice. He HAD to get out of there, and if he's learned something over the course of his travels in the castle, it's that the most important pieces, are always in the most scary places.

So he sighed and started the dark descent.

When he was about halfway down the ladder, he heard a small sob come from the other side of the room. Daniel was surprised, and almost fell off, but managed to stay on until about a foot of the ground, and that's where he just jumped off.

He turned around and shone the light towards the crying noise. On the other side of the room, he saw a white form, it... It almost looked like... No... It couldn't be... was it Rarity? Daniel slowly walked to the form.

He reached out and slowly extended his hoof towards what he presumed was just another figment of his imagination. He expected his hoof to just go straight through it, but when his hoof made contact. IT MADE CONTACT, and she sure reacted, too.

Rarity jumped back, and turned around quickly, she crouched like she was about to pounce on Daniel. Her horn started glowing fiercely. There were tears streaming down her face, along with eyeliner that was starting to water up and leak down her face too.

"Woah, don't!" Daniel shouted before Rarity could fire off whatever spell she was about to shoot him with. "It's me! Daniel!"

Rarity calmed down for a few seconds, and the glow on her horn went away, then she buried her face in Daniel's chest, and started sobbing again. Daniel honestly didn't know what to do, he was kind of panicking.

"Ok ok ok... Hold on Rarity... Tell me why you're crying..." Daniel told her while she hugged him, and muffled her cries with his chest.

Rarity took a step back and sniffled. "Well... Out with it..." Daniel eagerly said, concerned.

"When... When we first got here... I was with Fluttershy... Th-then we saw one of those things, and... and.... I ran... I left her behind... It went after me, and locked me in here... B- but I don't think Fluttershy's going to be okay, and If she is... Then I don't think she's going to like me anymore..." Rarity choked out... Sobbing between every sentence.

Daniel remembering that he heard Fluttershy earlier said "I'm sure she's OK, Rarity, and I don't think she's going to hate you... I mean who could hate such a great pony?" Daniel tried to calm her down.

Rarity smiled, and sniffled. She wiped the last tear from her eyes, and stood up straight.

"Well then... Let's go find our friends!" She said.
