Daniel started to slowly wake up. His body coming to it's senses.  His whole body ached, but maybe that was good, as the pain meant he was still alive. Daniel let a low pained groan out, and immediately regretted it. His throat, oh boy, his throat. It hurt like someone was stabbing him from the inside.

Blinking away escaped tears, Daniel slowly got to his hooves. He was confused for a second about his "new" body, but as soon as the confusion came, it went. How could he have forgotten about the day before? The day he woke up in a strange land, with a strange body.

Daniel looked around slowly, his head pounding. His breathing was shaky, and he was very confused about why he was here.

But where was here?

He had never been here, or had he? He was in a small room with shelves lining the wall, most of them empty. On the other side of the room, there was a broken down door. Suddenly, he had a flashback from one of his more heart racing moments from his adventure in the castle.

Daniel ran as quick as he could away from the gatherer chasing him, his lantern was out, and he was bleeding from the chest. Have you ever been swiped at by a monster with four inch long razor sharp claws? It hurts! Daniel saw a wooden door from the corner of his eye, and quickly made a break for it. Daniel reached the door, opened it, and quickly slammed it behind him.

Scanning the room for somewhere to hide took about three seconds. He saw a couple large (about four feet wide, and four feet  tall.) wooden crates, and hopped over them. Daniel peeked around the corner of the crate, and saw the door on the other side of the room. About three seconds past and *BLARG** the gatherer struck the door. Making a small hole in the wooden door.*

The gatherer struck again, making the hole bigger. One more time, the gatherer struck, and the door fell to pieces.

Daniel's heart was racing, as he crouched behind the four foot tall crate. He could hear the gatherer's loud, slow footsteps towards the center of the room. Then about twenty seconds later, the gatherer left the room.

Now it was time to focus on the wound. Daniel reached into his satchel and pulled out a small Laudanum container. He pulled the cork out, and drank all of it.

Daniel sighed as he felt the torn skin on his chest slowly, magically healing.

Daniel blinked a few times. How could he have forgotten such a close encounter? Maybe it was the amnesia potion that he took, it might still be in his system.

That made Daniel think. Will he remember any of this after he's done. Will he remember the awesome party thrown in his honor, or the faces of the six ponies that helped him when he first arrived? He didn't know, and that was a pretty scary thought.

Daniel slowly stumbled out of the room, leaning against the door. He felt sick, very sick. He coughed, a loud echoing hack.

What was weird is that after the cough, Daniel could taste blood!

...

Daniel's eyes widened. He had been so focused on the pain, that he didn't even notice that he was standing in almost complete darkness. Daniel slowly backed up into a corner.

He looked around desperately for a light source. His eyes had adjusted to the darkness, but that didn't make it any better for Daniel.

Daniel saw a dim candle on the other side of the large room.  He started running for it, as fast as he could. Before the darkness could consume him.

He reached for the candle, and grabbed with his hoof. He felt better as soon as he did. He slowly started to calm, but now that he wasn't focused on the darkness, he came to a frightening realization after seeing a small sign. He was in the storage room in the Brennenburg castle!

"Is anybody there?" Daniel asked out loud, after a few seconds.

"Daniel! Is that you?" A quiet, soft voice said from across the room. It was immediately obvious to Daniel who the voice belonged to.

"Fluttershy?" Daniel said, looking around frantically. "Where are you?" Daniel continued to call out for the pony for about five minutes, until finally, Daniel decided it must have been his imagination, or that he's totaly insane.

Scared shitless, Daniel decided to man up, and continue into the darkness, in search of his friends.
