Sleepless in Hyrule

Celestia's magnificent sun rose on the cute quaint town of Ponyville, and not a single warm ray of sunshine made it through the dark blue Bat-Mare curtains, tightly shut in Button's room. He sat on the soft, foal blue carpet in his small second floor bedroom, with his orange eyes glued to the screen of his T.V. The door creaked open and sweet, loving voice came from the other side,

"Button sweetie! It's time for school!",

his mother called. The lack of sleep combine with her sudden appearance startled Button.

"Get back she devil!" he exclaimed, then grabbing a foam diamond sword and throwing it at his mother. She stood there for a few moments shocked by her son's outburst, then said in a stern voice,

"That is no way to act towards your mother young man! go to school NOW."

"But mooooooom I need to save Hyrule!" Button protested.

"Fine then no video games for a week" she replied, smiling slightly.

"What!?! NO! I'm going just hold on!" The brown colt jumped out of bed and ran quickly down the stairs, grabbing his bag lunch, his green saddle bag, and his lucky hat.

"Okmomgottagobye!' he yelled, then ran out the door, forgetting something on his bed side table.

On the bus, Button took a seat up front, next to his best friend Rumble. His only Friend for that matter, other that the crusaders of course, but Rumble was his only guy friend, and he needed someone like that sometimes. Button reached into his saddlebag and pushed some stuff around, feeling around for his favorite possession.

"@#$(@*&#!!!!!!!" Button yelled in an unrecognizable language.

"Rumble I forgot my Joy-Boy!" Button screeched in his usual over-dramatic fashion.

"Come on dude, Its just a game, you don't need it to live."

That right there was one thing Button and rumble didn't have in common. Button liked games, Rumble liked sports, just like their brothers 8-Bit and Thunderlane. Button huffed and crossed his hooves red in the face and staring out the window at the white unicorn filly getting on the bus next.

"Hey Button!" Sweetie said as she sat in the seat across from him and Rumble.

"GAH! Oh, hi Sweetie!"

"Why do you look so, surprised?" Sweetie questioned.

"Oh,  was up late.... Working?" Button came up with out of nowhere.

"So um, you were up all night playing Ocarina of time?"

"Hey! You have no proof of that! I could have easily been studying for today's math test!"

"Yea no proof as in you told me you were playing it yesterday and you have the case sticking out of your saddle bag."

Button looked down and sure enough the case was close to falling out. He tucked it in and looked back at Sweetie Belle. Then you both burst out laughing falling back into their seats.

"Yea Button, studying! and the math test is tomorrow just so you know. So you wanna trade Ponymon like we were going to yesterday?" Sweetie asked.

"Oh yea sorry about that I left my Joyboy home, heh heh." Button said now REALLY regretting forgetting it.

"Oh OK, well it looks like we're here anyway, I'm going to stop at my locker really quick so see you in class!"

The white unicorn filly walked off the bus and skipped down the hall to her locker. He watched her beautiful pink mane bounce as she walked, admiring the shining white of her coat, and the sparking shades of green in her eyes.

"Yea, don't need it to live" Button half whisperer to Rumble.

"Don't need it at all."

The bell rang right as Button walked into the classroom. As usual, Mrs.Cheerilee scolded him for being late, then he took his seat between Sweetie and Rumble. He looked over at sweetie and smiled. Button you idiot! You probably look so stupid sitting there and smiling at her! He turned away and stared down at his work, red in the face. Hopefully she didn't notice. Sweetie Belle raised her hoove for almost every question. She is so intelligent and beautiful. Button answered one question in hopes of impressing her, but she didn't seem to notice. She was too focused on her work to care probably, I mean she looked pretty distracted by something. The class suffered through a few more math lectures, then were dismissed for lunch. This was going to be a long lunch with out his Joyboy. Button spotted three little fillies walking up from a distance. Maybe this lunch won't be so long after all.

"Howdy Button! We came up with some great ideas for our crusading!" Apple Bloom stated.

"Yeah!' Scootaloo Chimed in, "We are totally going to get our Cutie Marks! Or are you just going to sit on your Game-Colt all recess again?"

"Its a Joy-Boy and I left it at home, but alright, I'll come, what are you even doing anyway?"

"It will be totally awesome, just trust me", Scootaloo said, sounding very proud of herself.

"Oh Boy......... I cant wait to break a few bones" Button stated flatly.

"HOW DID I GET MYSELF INTO THIS!" Button screamed from the top of a tall evergreen tree on the outskirts of the Everfree forest.

Scootaloo rolled her eyes "Come on Button, if were not going to get our cutie marks in Olympic trampolining off treetop, what else are we going to get them in?"

Applebloom muttered  "I can think of at least ten other-" Scootaloo cut her off

"ALRIGHTBUTTONLETSGOMOVEITORLOSEIT!"

"Wait, WHAT AHHHHGGG!!!!"

Scootaloo slammed a brown helmet on the colts head and pushed him out of the tree.
