After the Party

"I think I could find something" said Twilight Sparkle

Twilight waited for a response.

"Uh Pinkie?" asked Twilight "PINKIE!"

"Huh what?" said Pinkie as she fell back into reality "Sorry Twilight I was daydreaming"
Twilight Sparkle was talking to Pinkie Pie by the punch bowl at yet another of Pinkie's party. All of Pinkie's friends were there (Which meant basically the entire town was crammed into Sugarcube Corner) but Pinkie had only really noticed one pony at the party; Rainbow Dash.

"What were we talking about?" asked Pinkie

"You said we haven't been spending enough time together so you asked me if there was any 'historically important parties' I could teach you about so we could hang out" recalled Twilight

"And you said you think you can find something" said Pinkie

"Yes, so do you want to come by the library tomorrow?" asked Twilight

"Sure" chirped Pinkie Pie

Twilight finished her punch and returned to the crowd while Pinkie returned to her day dreams. Rainbow Dash was standing near the entrance to the confectionery store talking to Fluttershy who appeared to be attempting to hide under a table. Dashie was so nice; trying to help Fluttershy have fun at a party.

"What do you think Gummy; would she ever go for a mare like me?" asked Pinkie

Upon hearing his name Gummy the Great and Powerful rose from his place in the depths of Pinkie's mane.

"I don't know either" said Pinkie

"Don't know what Pinks?" asked Applejack who was on her way to get some punch

"Oh, nothing" said Pinkie Pie

"By the way, I've been meaning to ask you Pinks; what's this party for?" asked Applejack

"Oh, it's just a haven't had a party in a while party" said Pinkie, she wasn't going to say that it was really an excuse to spend more time with Dash party but then again if the real truth was to be told then this would be more of a stare at Dash like a stalker and don't talk to her Party

"Yeah that sounds like something you'd do" said Applejack unconvincingly

"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Pinkie picking up on Applejack's terrible lying skills

"I mean that you haven't been in everypony's face making sure they're having a good time; you've just been sitting here staring off into space" said Applejack

"Are you having a good time" said Pinkie suddenly worried

"Yes, thank you for asking, and so is everyone else" said Applejack

"Thanks a lot AJ you got me all worked up for nothing" said Pinkie

"That's not the point Pinks; you've been acting like a real wall flower" said Applejack "Is something wrong Pinkie?"

"No no every things, uh... bezoobs" said Pinkie putting on a queasy smile

"Well you don't have to talk to me but maybe you should talk to Fluttershy; she's a really good listener" said Applejack

Pinkie Pie looked over to where Fluttershy was standing, full emerged from the table, while Rainbow Dash patted her on the back.

"I would if I needed to but I don't so I won't" said Pinkie before she bounce over Applejack and began to mingle

Applejack wasn't convinced but decided there were stranger things than Pinkie Pie acting weird. The rest of the party passed like any other; with Pinkie seeming to be in every nook and cranny trying to make sure everyone had a good time. However, just like every other party, it eventually had to end so a few hours later Pinkie was to be found standing by the door saying farewell to each of her friends in turn as they left the party. As she said goodbye to the last guest Pinkie sighed.

"That was a great party Pinks" said a voice behind Pinkie

Pinkie almost screamed when she turned around to find Rainbow Dash standing behind her.

"Oh, uh... Thanks Dashie" said Pinkie "What are you still doing here?"

"Well we didn't really talk much during the party so I thought I'd help you cleanup" said Dash

"Sure Dashie" chirped Pinkie

"You know if anypony else ever called me that I'd buck them through a wall" said Rainbow Dash

Pinkie giggled and Dash laughed, the former also began to blush a little but she hid it by quickly turning and proclaiming "We'd better get started if we ever want to get to bed"

"Mmmmmmm Bed" Dash pretended to drool

They both laughed at that and began to clean up the trashed store. The two joked and laughed for twenty minutes, Dash joked and Pinkie laughed, while they cleaned until they came to one corner of the room in which there was a puddle that neither wanted to touch.

"What is that?" asked Dash pointing a hoof at the puddle of green substance

"That is what happens when Bon Bon has more than two drinks" said Pinkie

"You didn't serve alcohol though" said Dash

"No but I invited Berry Punch which is practically the same thing" said Pinkie

They both laughed while Pinkie grabbed a mop and cleaned up Bon Bon's mess. It only took them a few minutes after that to finish. With their job done they headed to the door but as Pinkie reached out a hoof to open it for Dash she saw that Gummy was on her hoof, looking at her. Even though Gummy didn't move his lips Pinkie knew what he was saying; Dash stayed behind to be with you for a bit, you're alone with her, this is the best chance you're ever going to get to tell her how you feel. Pinkie lowered her hoof and took a deep breath while she tried to figure out what to say.

"Hey Pinks are you all right" asked Rainbow Dash as she put a hoof on her friend's shoulder

Pinkie put her hoof over Dash's "You remember during the party when Fluttershy was trying to hide under the table and you managed to get her out"

"Yeah, how did you see that?" asked Dash

"I just thought that you were really nice for helping her out and I just always notice how you're always willing to help your friends and I just think that you're..." as Pinkie looked up she saw that Dash's face was right in front of hers with concern drawn all over it "I just think you're amazing"

Rainbow Dash was really starting to get worried now. Where was pinkie going with this? Dash's question was answered quickly as

Pinkie Pie leaned in, holding Dash's hoof in hers, and kissed her.

***
Dash's eyes shot wide open and her pupils shrank to pin pricks as her brain tried its best to comprehend what was happening, had Pinkie Pie just kissed her? No Pinkie Pie was still kissing her!

Rainbow Dash tore her hoof free from Pinkie's and pushed Pinkie off of her. Pinkie hadn't expected the push and so she fell to the floor, as she looked up she saw Dash grab the door and pull it open before bolting out the door and into the sky leaving a rainbow trail behind her, leaving a crying pink pony behind her.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid" repeated Pinkie Pie as she slammed her hoof into her face again and again and again "

Gummy waddled over to Pinkie and placed a claw on her snout in a consoling sort of way.

"Now she'll never like me, not only as a special somepony but also as a friend, I've ruined our friendship now I can't even just be with her like we used to" sobbed Pinkie

Gummy looked at her.

"How can it not be so bad? I'll never be able to really see her again" moaned Pinkie

Gummy looked at her.

"I did talk to her, what more can I say?" begged Pinkie

Gummy looked at her.

"Do you really think that will work?" said Pinkie as she choked back a sob

Gummy cocked his head to one side and continued to look at her.

"Then I'll give it a try" said Pinkie as she got up on all four hooves and bounced out the door

***
"Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh" spluttered Rainbow Dash as she zoomed across the sky above ponyville

Rainbow Dash was so distracted by her thoughts, or rather thought, that she didn't notice her house until she'd already got her head stuck in the door.

"Good thing it's made of clouds" muttered Rainbow as she dislodged her head and walked inside

Once she was inside Dash flopped onto her couch and buried her face in the cloud.

"Maybe she was just drunk" mused Rainbow without much enthusiasm "They're always drunk"

Rainbow Dash curled up and tried to get some sleep. Her efforts were in vain however as just before her eyes closed there came a knocking from the door.

"Knock, knock, knock" came a voice from the door (after all how do you knock on clouds?)

Rainbow Dash got up and walked over to the door but what she saw made no sense "Pinkie Pie?"

"Hi Dashie" said Pinkie sheepishly with a small wave

Pinkie Pie was sitting on Dash's porch with several dozen balloons tied around her.

"What are you doing here?" asked Rainbow Dash, unsure if she was dreaming

"I came to win you over, I think, so here I go" said Pinkie before taking a deep breath "Rainbow Dash, I think that you're the cutest mare in all of ponyville, no Equestria! When I'm with you I feel warm inside, when you laugh I feel tingly and when you smile I get butterflies in my tummy, I just want to hug you and sit on the couch and play BMO with you. You always say that you have a lot of fun when we go pranking so... maybe you could give it a chance?"

Rainbow Dash simply stood there, completely dumbfounded by what she had just heard. Pinkie sat patiently waiting for a response (which is pretty impressive considering this is Pinkie Pie) but as she waited she began to float up. Pinkie was starting to get worried but she didn't want to disturb Dash. Luckily Dash snapped out of it in time to grab Pinkie and pull her back down.

"I want to show you something" said Dash

Pinkie followed Dash inside and up the stairs. Pinkie really wanted to know where they were going however she got the feeling that what Dash was doing was important. After a few seconds of walking they arrived at Dash's bedroom, Pinkie was getting a bit confused now. Once they were inside Dash hopped up onto her bed and began rummaging under her pillow, she was presenting a little more than Pinkie thought was necessary which was really starting to confuse her. Dash pulled a piece of paper out and hoofed it to Pinkie. Pinkie looked at it; it was a photo of her and Rainbow Dash, had Dash been sleeping with this under her pillow? Pinkie's brain began to hurt from trying to understand what was going on.

"Pinkie I've, I've... had a crush on you for a while, ever since that day we went pranking and then Gilda came to visit; I never knew how much fun you are and when Gilda was mean to you I realized how much you meant to me" confessed Rainbow

"Then why did you run away?" asked Pinkie

"I've been kissed at and after parties before and... I read too much into it and ruined a few friendships that way and I didn't want that to happen to us, I couldn't stand never seeing you again" said Dash "But... did you really mean what you said out there?"

"Of course I did Dashie" said Pinkie

A big smile spread across Dash's face and a couple of tears began to run down her cheeks.

"Why are you crying Dashie?" asked Pinkie who was once again confused

Rainbow didn't answer her, instead she embraced her a soft hug and Pinkie hugged her back. To Rainbow Dash it was a wonderful feeling, Pinkie Pie was so soft and fluffy and she smelled sort of like sugar. The hug lasted a few minutes before Rainbow pulled out of it for a second but before Pinkie could express her dismay that the hug had ended Rainbow covered her mouth with her own. Pinkie Pie was surprised by this sudden show of affection but she wasn't about to complain. It was the most amazing feeling Pinkie had ever experienced; it was exciting and electric like getting struck by lightning while flying high in the sky. Pinkie wished that the kiss could never end, that she didn't have to breath, that they could stay like this for all of eternity. Unfortunately the two love struck mares had to come back into reality as they both began to run out of breath. They separated and just stood there in silence for a bit, each enjoying the other's presence.

"So, Pinkie, it's starting to get really late" said Dash as she rubbed the back of her head nervously

"Yeah I guess" said Pinkie concerned that Dash was going to send her home

"Maybe you should stay the night" proposed Rainbow Dash as she glanced back at her bed

"YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!" screamed Pinkie Pie

She leapt into the air driven by excitement however she soon discovered that this was not a good idea as she did not come back down. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and flew up to grab her.

Once Pinkie was back on 'solid' cloud she said "Maybe it's not such a good idea, I might float away in my sleep"

Rainbow pushed Pinkie onto the bed before jumping in beside her and wrapping both her forelegs around her "Then I'll just have to hold you in place"

The two ponies looked into each other's eyes as the lay on the incredibly soft cloud. Pinkie looked into Dash's beautiful magenta eyes that still shimmered a bit from the tears of joy she had cried earlier. Dash looked into Pinkie's wonderfully blue eyes that reminded her of every open sky she had flown in and of the feeling of freedom and bliss she had felt as she did.

They both fell asleep, nose to nose, with smiles on their faces.
