//-------------------------------------------------------// Immortal Tears -by Dark0592- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue //-------------------------------------------------------// Epilogue “Huh what's this.” A Purple Unicorn said as she uncovered a sealed box. It was sealed with the strongest magic she had ever seen, the pure magical energy in the lock alone was more than she had in her entire body. “This is big...I need to see the boss!” she exclaimed and dashed off. She Gathered her two friends and dashed off. She was leading a dig team, going through the ruins of the Ancient city of Canterlot. She teleported to the nearby city of ponyville, Equestria's capitol, and ran to the Palace. “What can be so important to interrupt the Princess's Meal?!” a Guard asked outside of the main hall. “This!” she exclaimed and showed the box. The Guard examined it and his eyes widened when he felt the magic. He waved her through. Now that she was actually there in the dining hall, walking towards the Princess with her two friends at her side, she was nervous. “Hello, I am afraid I don't know you. Do you need something?” The Princess asked. She was a regal white and her horn was majestic, but she had no wings. “I'm sorry to interrupt your meal Princess...but this might be very important.” the Purple Unicorn said and levitated the box over. The Princess looked the three over. The Unicorn was a lavender purple with a pink mane and tail, the mane and tail had a streak of dark purple through it. Her Cutie mark was what looked like a butterfly shaped star. The one to her left, a light purple Pegasus, the coat looked like someone had mixed pink and blue, that had a multiple colored mane with what looked like balloons made out of thunder clouds as her cutie mark. The final was a gray earth pony. She had blonde stylish mane and tail and a hat a country farmer would wear, but it was modified to look more fashionable. Her cutie mark was what looked like an apple made out of rubies. “Where did you find this?” she asked as the box was under her control and she felt the mass of power within. She gave it a burst of her own magic and the lock disintegrated. “in the ruins of Canterlot.” the Purple Unicorn replied. Now that the excitement was all gone the Princess realized this Unicorn was rather shy. “Well let's see what's inside.” the Princess said and opened the box. Inside was an aged piece of parchment and three pieces of jewelry. There was a sort of crown that had a purple Amethyst that looked like a butterfly shaped star, a necklace that looked like thundercloud balloons and the last ruby apples. “Hm, Interesting.” the Princess said as she lifted everything out. She read the parchment and the three were surprised to find tears were at her eyes. “Read...” she said and floated it over to them. “I cried when my friends died of old age one by one right in front of me...” they started. When they finished they were all in tears as well, but not for the same reasons as the princess. “What is wrong my Little ponies? It touched your hearts that much?” the Princess asked as they sobbed. “M-my name is Shy Sparkle.” the Unicorn said. “PinkieDash Sparkle.” the Pegasus said. “AppleGem Sparkle.” the Earth pony said. “Twilight Sparkle...is our great, great grandmother.” Shy Sparkle said. “Your Grandmother?...but that means...” the Princess said and lifted the three pendants from the ground. “According to Legend, the last Alicorn Princess locked away the Elements of harmony...only the wielders' heirs could find them...” she continued as she placed the pendants on the three ponies. “It used to be six pendants...but now they are three, they have combined.” she finished. The second the pendants were in their place, the three ponies' eyes lit up and they yelled out in pain. Wings shot out of Shy's back, a horn out of PinkieDash's skull and both out of AppleGem. The new appendages were slick with blood, but they already stopped hurting and the blood evaporated. “Oh my God...you are not only the new bearers of the elements of harmony...but the magic gave you the Ultimate form of an Immortal Alicorn!” the Princess exclaimed. “No” a voice said from the Parchment. “Not Immortal. Immortality is a Curse I could never bestow upon another. It is a hell this Parchment proves...you suffer for longer than you are happy. In my time and before, the time of Celestia and Luna, it was worth it. But for my reign and from then on...it was only pain. Live your lives. Don't wish for it to never end, after so many years death is a mercy you would not receive for many long centuries.” the voice continued. The princess looked at the parchment and noticed the final two lines were glowing purple. “I am Twilight Sparkle, the last immortal princess” the voice said, and as it did the words changed to match. //-------------------------------------------------------// Prequel //-------------------------------------------------------// Prequel A/N. I shed a few manly tears as I wrote this... “Ah guess we wuz all gonna die anyhow...the five of us at the same time tho?...that sure as hay is a gift...” Applejack, who looked much like an orange Granny Smith, said. Twilight Sparkle was standing over her, weeping. “Lighten' up there Sugarcube...live fer the five uh us. Be happy.” The old mare continued. Twilight wanted so bad to say something, but she was sobbing too hard. Over the last hour all of her friends had passed into the void. They were kept in the same room at the Hospital and she was there when it started. Pinkie was the first to go, she still had her infectious grin on her face...but it seemed to be more of a sad grin now that the eyes no longer twinkled with the pinkie pie energy, they were void. Dash went at the same exact time, looking at a picture of her Retirement party. Her Wonderbolt uniform was being worn proudly for the last time. Spitfire and Soarin had even shown up. Rarity was next, Sweetie Bell weeping at her side. The younger Mare was wailing now, it only worsened Twilight's sobbing. When Fluttershy had went, Twilight broke down. Fluttershy looked peaceful and happy...she went out just like she had wanted, she simply sighed in content and her heart monitor flatlined. Applejack was the last to go. Twilight had managed to stop wailing and bring it down to sobbing, but now that her last friend was gone she couldn't keep it held back. It was hours before Celestia and Luna managed to calm her enough to stand. “Why...why why whywhywhy!” Twilight wailed. “Why do I have to go through this!” she continued. “It is our punishment...” Celestia said darkly, her own face streaked with tears. “We stole eternal life from Death...so we suffer.” she continued. “But I didn't want this!” Twilight yelled. “Neither did we...” Luna said sadly. “But the world needs us...at least for now...it is a necessary evil...” she continued. Twilight's children then comforted her. There were three of them, each about 5 years apart from each other. They were hers and Fluttershy's. Later that year, Twilight was brought out of her depression by the happiness of her Youngest child's marriage, but it was short lived. Celestia had finally had enough. Twilight had been taught to raise the sun, and Celestia renounced her power. Twilight didn't know it, but Celestia did...but when you live because of magic and you relinquish control of that magic, you are no longer immortal. And after two thousand or more years?...Celestia blew away as dust without even a goodbye. Luna and Twilight didn't leave the Sun Goddess's room for a month, the Celestial bodies they controlled halfway between setting and raising throwing Equestria into a mix of night and day. Soon after that Spike took his hundred year nap. I knew it was coming...he would wake up again...right? Wrong...he had a terrible illness that not even he knew about...his heart stopped beating within days...the week after that I went to the funeral of the Cutie Mark Crusaders...now the only one still alive that I knew was Luna. Only one of my children gave a grandchild... I thought every bad thing possible had happened to me now. Life must really hate me because Nightmare moon decided it was time to reappear. This time though, she didn't want eternal night. She wanted to force the eternal sleep on everypony. Nightmare Moon slew Luna right in front of me...captured my children...tortured them as I was forced to watch...they were killed slowly and painfully. Every single second of it I screamed and wailed through it all. When it was my turn, I kept silent. I deserved this. Everypony else around me suffered ...it made me feel mortal for a little bit. Then I received the letter. It disintegrated only just after I read it, but it said that my one grandchild was still alive. I smiled that day, even as my wings were torn from my back. My horn shattered. I was ready to die. But once again, life has a fucked up sense of humor. I was happy...ready to die, to slip into the eternal sleep. That's when I felt her. Fluttershy was standing with me, but she wasn't. All of my friends, everypony I ever knew...even Celestia and Luna...they all stood by me and vanquished the Nightmare, turning her back into dust. I shed one final tear of happiness as I gave my energy to the moon and the sun, ready to join everypony in the void. The energy would give the moon and the sun life, making Alicorns no longer necessary. I was wrong. I realized I was the last Alicorn. Future generations would never know them. She stemmed the flow of her energy just enough to use it to teleport to Ponyville, into her old Library. Her mane and tail were already blowing away in non-existent winds as she retrieved the box that held the Elements of harmony. She didn't have time for a final will and testament, so she simply penned something she had been thinking on for a long time. She teleported back to Canterlot as her ears began to blow away. She left the box sitting on the throne and used the last of the magic to teleport back to Ponyville, though now on the outskirts. Her body crumbled right in front of five graves, the last bit of magic leaving her. A small rainbow stream of magic flowed from the pile that used to be Twilight Sparkle and the five graves, it joined the Sun and the Moon. Two Hundred years later, a rainbow of energy smashed into the ground in the middle of Ponyville, which was now the Capitol. Lying there were three little fillies, one a purple unicorn with a pink mane and tail, one a lighter purple Pegasus with a tie die mane and tail and the last a gray earth pony with a blonde mane and tail. They were the size of newborns, yet they had their Cutie marks. One a butterfly that seemed to be made out of stars, one an apple made seemingly out of rubies and the balloons seemingly made of thunderclouds. The Yellow Unicorn they appeared in front of got over the shock and quickly looked them over. The Great Grandchild of Twilight Sparkle took them in as if they were her own daughters. //-------------------------------------------------------// I Cried //-------------------------------------------------------// I Cried I cried when my friends died of old age one by one right in front of me... I cried when my youngest child married, but that was for joy. I cried when Celestia renounced her magic and control over the sun and turned into dust. Luna cried with me... we cried for days. I cried when spike started his hundred year slumber. I cried even more when I found out he would never wake up. I cried when the little foals I used to know, the last I knew from those wonderful times, died of old age I cried just to cry I cried when the Nightmare returned Luna was slain before my eyes my children imprisoned... tortured killed I cried the hardest then, they were tears of pure agony I didn't cry when the torture fell upon me I deserved it the pain the suffering it made me feel mortal I cried when I got the secret letter I had a living grandchild I cried for their parents and their losses I didn't cry when my wings were ripped from my back nor when my horn was shattered I smiled I thought I was going to finally die funny...life likes to mess with you like that I thought I had cried all I could cry... I cried when I felt the presence of those I used to know though and I cried when they helped me turn the nightmare into dust I thought I shed my final tear It was was that of happiness as I gave my power to the sun and the moon so they could rise and fall without me to guide them on their path I was wrong though I cried when I realized I was the last of the Alicorn princesses I cried for generations to come they wouldn't know the joys of it my grandchild is their only hope and my true final tear turns to dust as I follow suit my name is Twilight sparkle the last Alicorn princess of Equestria
