Mimic: Tale of a Parasite
Chapter 1: Already a Killer
Hello, reader. I am going to tell you a story about how I came to be in this position, as an evil parasite balloon, and every living thing as a possible host. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the story.
It was a normal Wednesday, I was driving home from college. I wanted to get a job as a biologist, so I was studying in the field. Anyway, I was driving, and it was snowing. I may have forgotten to say it was winter. As I was driving, I looked out the driver seat window to admire the view, which was of a gorgeous mountain range. The range's name is not important now, so I won't say it. It appears I was to distracted, for i felt a slight swerve while I was looking. I looked back at the road and saw a large sheet of ice, covering a large part of the lane I was in. I was too slow to move to the side of it, and my car started sliding out of control. 'shit' I thought, 'if i crash I'm dead!' the reason I would die is because I was driving near a cliff, and I was slipping towards the cliff edge. As I tried to steer it back onto a straight path, I realized how futile it was, because I was already right next to the drop. 'whelp, this is it. The end of the line. Guess I deserved it, I was kind of a jerk to everyone.' I thought sadly. After that thought, I was sent off the edge, front-first.
After a few seconds of waiting, I crashed face-first into the ground out of my windshield. After that, all I knew was pain. While I was trying to scream out of my shattered mouth, I could have sworn I heard someone say, "perfect.". Darkness soon took hold.
I came to, along with a slight headache. "Where am I?" I asked no one in particular. A few seconds later, and the memories of the crash rushed to my mind. "HOLY SHIT!!! How am I still alive!?!?" I shouted. I thought this through a little bit. "Am I alive? Is this actually the afterlife? It sure is dark, hope I'm not in hell or anything." I said, a little more calmly. This is when I started looking at my surroundings, noticing that it seemed to be nighttime, and that I was in a forest. Then i looked down at myself. "AAAAAHHH!!!" I screamed, my small amount of calm going away instantly. "Why is there a string where my body should be?!?! And why am I floating?!" I yelled,freaking out even more. I looked around again, and saw a pond. I tried going to it, and then freaked out again when I hovered to it. As I tried looking into it to dee my reflection, I noticed 3 things: one, the moon is huge! Two, the stars seemed a little less randomly placed than usual. And three, I'm a f****** balloon! The third thing stood out most to me. "WTF?! I'm a balloon! Why? How? What moved me? Am I magical? What was that last thought? Hmmm... I will have to test out this new body." These were a majority of the thoughts going through my.... Torso? Head? Whatever, I'll just say mind. The other thoughts were too dirty to say.
After a few hours of messing with my new body's functions, I learned I am rather strong for a balloon, how to move best, and that I have the ability to liquefy myself and control the air. I don't know the extent of my air powers, and I am still getting the hang of moving as a puddle of water. I also discovered that I am not on earth anymore, which explains the moon thing, when a bird-snake-bat-thing showed up. Anyways, after a bit, I got tired, and used the wind to push my balloon body into a tree to rest. I also noticed that I seem to be a tad purple now, I don't know what that means, but I think it's bad. Maybe it's like an air meter? Maybe I need helium to change back to red? I dunno, and I'll figure it out later. Right now, I need sleep. I shut my eyes, and sleep soon took over.
As I woke up, I heard some noises.'talking? That means people, and maybe they can help! I'm not alone here! these were my inspiring thoughts that were crushed when I saw the supposed 'people'. They appeared to be anthropomorphic multicolored horses, but hey, maybe they speak English.
"Hey!" I shouted, which captured their attention. "Do you guys speak English?" As soon as I said this, they pointed the knives I just noticed they had at me. "Woah! Watch where you point those things!" I said frantically, while dodging the two that were thrown by drifting upwards.
" foul demon! we will not be cursed by your silver tongue! Begone!" The one in the front said.
"What are you talking about? Silver tongue? I just wanted some help!" I angrily shouted.
"Help with what? A new victim? I think not! We have encountered many demons in our ventures, your petty lies will not trick us! Archers! Shoot it!" The one that I assume is the leader shouted while the ones dressed what I just noticed is a light and dark green camouflage uniform pulled out some bows. I assume these must be a group of soldiers, if the ones with bigger weapons and armor painted gold was anything to go by. How did I just now notice all the weaponry?
As the archers fired the arrows they had readied, which was about seven, I panicked. How am I, a balloon, gonna survive a bunch of arrows being shot at me by some very untrusting soldiers? As I was panicking, I suddenly felt myself start falling. 'oh yeah! My liquification thingamajig that I need to come up with a name for!' as I fell to the ground, the arrows still met their mark and passed through me. When is looked back at them away from the arrows, I caught their surprised faces.
"Hah! Take that! If you wanna do this the hard way, I'll do this the hard way!" I stated as I started to get a little too cocky. While they were still surprised, I went up to one and wrapped my string tightly around his neck and moved him in the way of a sword coming from another guy and made him die at the hands if his ow teammate. I then grabbed the dead one's sword with my string and slashed the teamkiller's neck. "This is a little too easy!" I shouted after I liquified myself on an anthro horse's face and suffocated her. I continued my killing spree until they were all dead.
When the last one died, I rested myself by liquefying in the blood pools on the forest ground. When I did this, I felt a little more energized.
"Woah! That was one tough fight! How am I still alive?" I pondered aloud. I looked around after a bit, solidified, and flew towards an area that wasn't covered in alien blood. Once i got to the new area, I decided to practice moving and shaping myself in liquid form, because it seems to be harder to kill than my balloon form, which somehow took down what I later found out was an adventuring group of the anthro horses looking for some monsters to fight. As I was practicing, I noticed a squirrel. 'hmmm... I wonder if I can hide inside living beings... Or better yet, maybe If I can get to their brain in liquid form, I can do stuff with their body! Where a I getting these ideas?' I thought to myself. I tried the first idea, seeing as how the second idea is much more complicated. Lucky I was aiming for becoming a biologist, huh? I know brain stuff.
12 innocent animals later and I found out I can hide in a living being's stomach! Cool, right? Now I can go to civilization and not get attacked! Maybe this will help with my second goal! As I turned into my first water shape, which was a worm, I didn't notice the pair of red eyes watching me from a tree disappear.
'finally!' I thought, as I was finally out of the forest and could see a town in the distance, lucky for me I was looking for one. As I neared the town, I could make out shapes above the town as well as in the streets. I could only assume that whatever kind of beings lived here could fly. Once I was able to make out the shapes, I stopped in my tracks. 'damnit! A horseman town! I thought as I looked at the people. One thing I noticed though, the ones in the air had wings, and three of the ones on land had pointy looking spiral horns. 'hmmm... Must be anthro unicorns and Pegasi... I'm gonna want to stay away from them until I get stronger, and just stick to the normal ones.' I made a mental note on that. I continued moving and eventually snuck into the town. I looked around, and saw a pub. This would be perfect for my goals, as I could sneak into a drink when one of the horsemen weren't looking, get inside a stomach, and learn from what I hear from their conversations.
It took me a while, but I did it. I got into a drink. After a little bit of waiting, the guy who's drink I was in took a swig. When he did so, I slipped into his mouth and wormed my way down his throat until I hit his stomach. Another bit of waiting and listening, and it learned that they call themselves ponies, and that their old king, who was a tyrant, was overthrown around ten years ago. Apparently, this was still something that was popular as they have grown up with his rule and still are getting used to it. A little longer, and my.... Host, was going home. I guess I'll see what pony homes are like soon...
