And write as soon as you can,“ yelled Opals father, as she got on the long train ride bound for Manehattan “Yes, I will dad,“ yelled opal in her Trottingham (British) accent while boarding the train. A light brown mare with matching mane and tail was heading to Manehattan to follow her dream of becoming a famous singer since Manehattan was where everyone went to get into showbiz. Many hours later. Opal was awoken by the train conductor, “Miss, miss, we’re here,“ said the train conductor, shaking Opal awake. She awoke with a puzzled look on her face. “Oh, yes, thank you,” said Opal, getting up and picking up her saddlebags and then leaving the train. As soon as her front hooves hit the Manehattan ground, her eyes lit up with wonder. Opal ventured forward farther into the vast city that still was under construction, such more built up then her own small town. But also it was a place of violence, the biggest illegal cider trade, and speakeasies, but a place of brilliant shows, glitz, and glamour. Opal was trotting around Manehattan taking in the sights, but not heading in any place in particular. Opal trotted around for about a hour, then she made a very bad mistake. She turned into a dark alleyway. “Drop your bags and get down on the ground and I won’t hurt you,“ said a mysterious voice from the darkness. Opal did as the voice said, trembling and shaking as she unhooked her saddlebags and put her stomach to the ground. Slowly the voice and the pony it belonged to emerged from the darkness and nudged open the saddlebag and started to look though her bags. Opal used her hoof to hit the mugger in the back of the head and then pin them down to the floor. Opal tied her attacker up and waited for them to wake up. Location: Manehattan Time: unknown Year: 429 Showtime woke up with a splitting headache, last thing she remembered she was on one of her daily shopping trips. Which was, in simple terms, mugging and stealing goods from any unsuspecting pony that was unfortunate to walk in to the dark alleyways of the city. “Where the hell am I?” Showtime screamed, waking up. Her vision cleared and she looked down and found her self tied up, she also found a mare around her age staring at her with massive brown orbs. The mare was light brown with matching mane and tail although her mane and tail had a slightly darker shade. “Who are you? Untie me!” said Showtime to the mare in front of her. “No, you tried to mug me,“ replied the mare in front of her. “Ok, ok, I’m sorry. I do what I can to get by,” said Showtime to the mare in front of her. “Who are you any way?“ said the mare. “That’s what I asked you earlier,” said Showtime. “I think I have the upper hoof at the moment, so start talking,” said the mare angrily. Showtime told the stranger her name and in return the stranger told her her name. “My name is Opal, Opal Crystal, now tell me Showtime, why would you ever do this to weak naive ponies, luckily I know how to defend myself, but other ponies might not, how many have you stolen from and left them with nothing, do you have no soul?“ said Opal going into lecture mode. During this, Showtime had managed to wriggle out of the rope that had been keeping her tied up. "Got to eat to live, got to steal to eat,“ Showtime said slyly, trotting away towards home. "Hey, stop, I am not done with you!“ yelled Opal after her picking up her saddlebags. Showtime trotted even faster, trying to shake of this mare. She didn’t need any pony discovering about her or her life. But opal was catching up fast, Showtime trotted up the stairs as quick as she could. Finally she reached the twelfth floor and opened the door. Then She also locked it behind her. "Mama, mama are you ok?" said Showtime rushing in to aid her ill mother. "Yes my child, but I fear I only have moments,“ said her mother. "No, mama, don't say that,“ said Showtime, beginning to sob into her mothers sheet. "Listen to me Showtime, I love you, if I only have a few moments, I'm glad that it is with my beautiful and amazing daughter. Now my child there is something I must tell you,“ said her mother slowly, in a tone that said she was slowly slipping away. "What is it mama,“ asked Showtime, in between sobs. "You have a twin sister, she lives in Trottingham with your father, her name is-," said her mother, but was cut off by the pain. "Her name is-“ she continued. "What is her name mother?“ said Showtime leaning forward to nuzzle her mother. "Opal Crystal,“ said her mother. Suddenly, the front door of their flat was kicked open, and none other than Opal Crystal was standing in front of the two mares. Proofreaders Note: Hello fellow Bronies! Searching for a jobdisclaimer prologue ch3 Searching for a job "Showtime wake up, we got to go before the land lord gets here," said Opal, shaking showtime lightly. "What, Opal," said Showtime dreamily. "Get up," said Opal firmly, in a no nonsense tone. "Alright, I'm getting up," said Showtime getting up, picking up a brush she began to brush her mane. 10 minutes later, Opal appeared at her door, galloping on the spot impatiently. At that moment they heard a loud knocking on the door. "Miss time, miss time," said the land lord, wanting his rent. They just froze. "I told you to get up earlier," whispered Opal. "Shut up," replied Showtime even quieter. 20 minutes "Let me in now!" cried the land lord angrily and very loudly, pounding his hoof on the door, nearly breaking it. "Shoot, what do we do now?" whispered Opal, panicking. "Uhm, fire escape," whispered Showtime a little louder, pointing a hoof to the flat window, they both rushed to the window, trying to making as little noise as possible. They slowly, quietly lifted the window with their hooves, and they made there way to the fire escape. But, they both got on the old, rusty fire escape together. What they didn't realize was that it was not stable for the weight of two ponies. It gave way, but Opal caught the ladder. Showtime grasped onto Opal's hoof with such grip that it made Opal yelp out in pain. “Opal what are you doing? Fly!”shouted Showtime. Opal didn't reply, and began to blush. “Fly!”shouted Showtime. “I can't!” she shouted back. “What kinda-?!“ yelped Showtime, but was cut off by the wind flowing into her lungs making her future attempts inaudible. They both landed in the massive dumpster with a loud thud. Opal and Showtime peered their heads out of the dumpster. Opal found her self nose to nose with a pink stallion with the most beautiful blue eyes. Then Showtime popped her head out. Suddenly the stallion laughed because Showtime had a banana skin. "What are you doing in the trash?" asked the pink stallion. "What are you doing outside a dumpster were you neither live nor work? I've never seen you around here," asked Showtime. "Actually, for your information, I work at the local book shop and was binning some of our old supplies," said the stallion. "OK, seems legit," said Showtime. "Who are you?" asked Opal cutting Showtime off before see asked another pointless question. "My name is Theo Whooves,“ said the pink stallion, blushing at his name. During this time Showtime had got out of the dumpster and was helping Opal out. "Nice to meet you I suppose. I'm Opal, and this is Showtime," said Opal while searching her wing for any damage. "Same," said Showtime grumpily. "So, how did you to end up in the trash?" asked Theo. "Uhm-," started Opal, but was cut off by Showtime. "Bozo here can't fly, so we fell,” said Showtime. “But shes a Pegasus,” said Theo. “Yeah, I know, just drop it,” answered Opal. “Oh, I see, land lord,” said Theo as he saw an older, angry stallion come out of the building. “Shut up, help us hide,” said Opal. “Alright, cause we go back a whole twenty minutes,” he said sarcastically. “Please,” the two mares pleaded. “OK, follow me, you can hide at the shop,” said Theo, showing them the way. It didn't take long for them to find the shop, and they dodged the attention of the land lord. Theo ushered the two mares in the back door. To their amazement, what they found was not a humble book shop, but a full running speakeasy with chorus mares signing on stage, and many pony’s watching them. “What is this place?” asked Opal in amazement. “The Silver Steps,” answered Theo. “Wow,” said Showtime. Mr silver stepsCh4 Mr silver steps. Opal and Showtime were amazed by the Silver Steps. There was a silver stage glistening under the silver stage lights. The chorus mares sang and danced as ponies of many different ages were drinking, chatting, talking and watching the chorus mares dance on the sparkly stage. There was a bar serving alcoholic drinks, but the main one was cider. But at this time, Equestria was under a serve cider ban. Princess Celestia, after event’s occurred, said it was because “It is a destructive liquid, and is effecting our fair kingdom, so from this day I proclaim that no alcoholic drinks shall be served, drank, or transported in this kingdom.” After that many ponies became bitter and sad, for they couldn't have as much fun without cider. Anyway back to the silver steps “Bloody hell, this is place is amazing,” said Opal, looking around in wonder. “Uhm, who the hell are they,” asked a mysterious stranger descending the stairs. “Uhm, Mr. Silver Steps, their here for the audtions,” yelled Theo. “What aud-“asked Showtime, but got stopped due to Theo's hoof over her mouth. During this time, Silver Steps and his newest mare friend, Taullagh, had finished descending the stairs. “Well your too early anyway,“ said Taullagh coldly. “She’s right, you will have to come back later,“ said Silver Steps, then walking away not letting either of the sister’s reply. Mr Silver Steps was a tall earth pony stallion with beady black eyes that could see into your soul, a black mane that was swept to either side of his head and kept there neatly. His face was constantly adorned with a sour expression, and his bright yellow coat sparkled under the dim lights. His undoubtedly vain, but gorgeous mare friend, who matched with him, but it could be seen that things weren't as well as they looked. Taullaugh was a light purple earth pony mare, with a curly blond mane, she wore a beaded hair accessory, her green eyes seemed to contrast with the beady black ones of her partner. After Taullagh came, Lillian (Taullagh's best friend) a gentle and kind mare, but don't make her angry or you will have a problem, the young unicorn mare, like Taullagh, had a favorite hair accessory, a flower that lit up her mixed eyes of green and pink, and her light pink coat seemed to set her mixed eyes ablaze. When she was angry the flame was wild and red but when she was calm the fire was calm. And her two toned green mane and tail seemed to make her look like a angel or a princess, but she never noticed her looks, she didn't really bother. Although Lillian was kind naturally she could be as ruthless and insulting as Taullagh. "So, what time are the auditions?" asked Opal to Theo. "Uhm, about an hour,“ said Theo, looking at the clock on the wall. "That doesn't give us much time at all," cried Showtime, galloping out of the speakeasy. "Come on," she yelled to Opal. "One second," Opal replied. "What are you doing?" said Showtime, galloping back in. Opal kissed Theo on the cheek and then said, "Thanks for helping us." "That's alright," said Theo, slightly stunned and blushing. Then Opal and Showtime left, galloping out quickly. Auditionsdisclaimer:prologue ch 5 Auditions "Ten minutes left to get ready," said Showtime to Opal, who was still in the shower. "Oi, you sound like me," said Opal while she washed her mane clean. "No, get out of there. Look what you doing, your making me be the responsible one," said Showtime. "Alright, I'm done now," said Opal, turning off the water. Opal appeared a few seconds later with a towel slung over her back. Within the next ten minutes they did get out of the flat and trotted down to the "book shop". "Welcome, welcome everypony, to the Silver Steps, now get yourselves ready to audition, good luck," said Theo into the microphone. After that he was shooed off the stage by Lillan and he was put to mopping and cleaning up. "First up, Lesley the magician, Hugo the unicorn, and Sparkle," said Taullaugh. This went on for many hours. "Next, Showtime," said Taullaugh. Showime was as white as a sheet and shaking. "go ahead," said Opal, shoving her on stage. "Go," said Taullaugh with a smirk on her face. Showtime began to sing. "There's no business like show business," it was a wobbly voice that came out of Showtime's mouth, but her voice was light and angelic. Taullaugh was threatened and scared by the audition, she was about to say next when Lillian yelled "You're in!" "Why did you do that?" whispered Taullaugh in Lillian`s ear. "Look, we need chorus mares and fast, several have left this week due to you and your-" said Lillian, but stopped when she was smacked round the back of the head, which made her scream out in pain. Taullaugh gave her a look as if to say "Don't interfere again, I'm in charge." Because Lillian knew that she didn't want a smack round the head, she also knew that Showtime was going to go far in show business. "I haven't got all day, next!" yelled Tallaugh. Opal climbed the stairs, shaking with fright. Opal began to sing, her voice stunned and silenced the room with her angelic voice. Even Taullaugh had an open mouth for a few seconds. Her sister seemed to be a better dancer than a singer compared to Showtime. Showtime was hired like her sister but Taullaugh was less threatened by Opal, for she could not sing or dance. After that the two sisters went back to the flat, with a big smile on both of their faces. What happened to the jerkCh 8 What happened to the jerk. (before the date) Earlier that night. Theo had been preparing or this date for a the last two days, he bought a nice suit he knew he just said coffee but they both knew it meant more than just coffee. Theo had styled his mane and was wearing his fedora on top of his head. He was waiting outside the Steps. He really wanted this date to go well. He liked Opal, she was so different, not like those other mares in the Silver Steps. They were all vain and self obsessed, except Lillian, he could see something good in her, but Taullagh brought her down. Theo was still waiting for Opal, but she was worth it. But then, Taullaugh come out of the Silver Steps, determined to ruin Opals date, because she really wanted Theo badly. "Hey Theo, what you doing cutie,“ said Taullaugh flirting with Theo unnoticed. "Oh, hey Taullagh,“ said Theo calmly. "You didn't answer my question," Tallaugh said, seductively edging closer to him. "You know exactly what I’m doing,“ said Theo angrily. "Oh come on, Theo, give a mare a break," continued Taullagh, still edging closer to him. "You sure you got the right stallion?“ asked Theo. "You’re not like all those other saps,“ said Taullagh seductively. "No?“ said Theo "You’ve got lovely blue eyes” said Taullaugh. "They'l be lovely black eyes if Silver Steps catches us," said Theo angrily, and making Taullaugh back off a bit. "Come on sugar, how about smearing my lipstick,“ said Taullagh pouting her lips. "I'm warning you Taullagh, I'm warning you........... if you come any closer I'll call my lawyer,“ said Theo. "So, call him," said Taullagh before thrusting her tongue into Theo’s mouth and snogging him hard. Then, Opal turned up and saw them. Theo turned away from Taullagh an shoved her off him and yelled to Opal, "Wait, Opal, its not what you think, wait," and galloped after Opal, trying to keep up with her, but he lost her. He searched the city from high to low, but couldn’t find her. He trotted to the police station and filed a missing pony report. Showtime was informed by the police and they began their search for her. searching for opalCh 9 The search for Opal Crystal. “Opal, where are you? Please, I need you!“ shouted Showtime “Come on ma'am, I'll walk you home, otherwise you'll catch a cold in this rain, we'll keep searching tomorrow,” said the police unicorn stallion. “No thank you officer, I have to keep looking for her before she gets ill, and who knows what could happen," said Showtime to the officer. "I must insist, ma'am, that I walk you home, I would never forgive my self if a lovely young mare like yourself got ill. I promise you, we will search through the night, and if we see any sign of her we will let you know," answered the officer. "OK, I don't think there's anything we can do anyway. I accept your offer to walk me home officer, if she comes home I'll be there," said Showtime, walking towards the flat with the officer. Meanwhile Theo was still out looking for Opal. "Opal, Opal where are you? Please I need to talk to you!" Theo shouted. He had been walking around doing this for hours and then it began to rain, he ran into the local park, that's were he found Opal. lied down in the mud, shivering and also a deal blue, which was impressive, due to the hue of her coat being light brown. "Opal, please wake up you've got to," Theo said shaking her furiously. She didn't reply nor raise her head, or even move. Theo lifted her onto his back and cantered towards the nearest hospital. Theo quickly got to the hospital, Opal was immediately rushed to the emergency unit. It was confirmed she had hypothermia and that there was a very slim chance she may survive. Minutes after they got her to the hospital he rushed over to their flat, they both quickly galloped back to see Opal. They were taken aside and had been told of her condition and the complications. "I'm so sorry miss Time, I really am, were trying our hardest," said the doctor before he walked away to continue with the other patients. Showtime began to sob as she walked into see her unconscious sister. Sobbing and miraclesCh 10 Sobbing and Miracles. Showtime broke down in sobs and kneeled down next to her sister. She didn't want to lose her like she lost her mother. "Opal, please, please wake up you've got to come back home," said Showtime. Opal didn't reply or stir. Showtime then continued to sob. Almost 48 hours later. Showtime hadn't slept or showed for nearly fourth eight hours. The sunlight was following from the window, it seemed to show a new day and new beginnings. But the best thing that the sun did was preform a miracle. Opal suddenly began to lift her eye lids as the sunbeams reached the almost dead mare and bought her back. Opal squeezed her sister hoof gently. Showtime lifted her head. "Opal, you're back. I'm so happy!" said Showtime hugging her gently. "Hey, what happened? All I remember is being in the park after," said Opal having all the memories flood back. "Yeah, I know what happened, I'm sorry," said Showtime supportively. "I can't believe I fell for such a jerk," said Opal. "Now now, I know your gonna be mad, but, he's outside now. He needs to talk to you, please just listen for me," said Showtime. "You what," said Opal getting angry. "Opal," lectured Showtime. "OK, I will hear him out for you," said Opal calming down. "I'll let him in," said Showtime going outside and guiding Theo into the room. "I'll leave you alone," said Showtime, leaving the room. "Listen opal, I know your gonna be mad but it wasn't what it looked like-" said Theo. "Get to the point," said Opal impatiently. "OK, I was waiting for you and..." Theo then continued to explain what happened, all the way to when he found her. "When I saw you there I was in shock. I thought I lost you and I knew it was my fault." Opal was nearly in tears from his beautiful apology. "I forgive you but this time lets take it slow, OK?" said Opal. "Deal. I'm so sorry," Theo said hugging Opal close. The new couple relished in the hug. "One thing, we can't tell anyone yet," said Opal. Theo nodded yes in reply. Prologuemlp property of hasbro ocs are mine dont copy Jazz in Manehattan Prologue Year: 418 Location: Trotting-Ham Opal, a lonely light brown filly, sat on the front porch of her house, crying while watching the happy families walk past. She never fully felt complete since her parents had split when she was very young. Her father suddenly appeared from inside the house. "We're a broken family aren't we?" Opal said to her father. "Uh, no... maybe," said Opals father, trying to think of what to say next. "I wish we were a normal family," sighing, Opal dried some of her tears. “Honey, we are a normal family, you listen to me now, as long as we have each other nothing else matters,” said Opals father, wiping away the rest of her tears. “Now, time for bed, Opal,” he continued, opening the door to the house. Opal and her father went inside the house. Meanwhile, in Manehattan. A small light brown filly named Showtime was being forced into a dark alleyway. “Please don’t hurt me, I’ll pay you back!” screamed Showtime in her Manehattan accent. “Times up,” replied two older colts which where forcing her into that very alleyway. (After some disagreement, OK a lot of disagreement). The two colts were blocking the young filly from running away. The two colts stepped closer to her, Showtime thought it was the end but then she used the trash cans to defend herself, by kicking the trashcans in there faces. Showtime escaped by jumping on one of the two colts back. She landed on her hoof, chipping it. But, still, Showtime trotted home, all the way to the twelfth floor. Showtime unlocked the door and collapsed on her bed, trying to forget the pain in her hoof. A few hours later. "Show Time, I’m home, are you all right?” said Showtimes mother, walking into her room and sitting on her bed. "Yeah, fine," said Showtime in a sad tone. "What’s wrong? Uh, who did this to you?" said her Pegasus mother, discovering her chipped hoof. Showtime did not reply, she just pulled away her hoof from her mother’s grip. "Who did this to you?" asked her mother again, with a lot of worry in her voice this time. Showtime just pretended to be asleep, her mother sighed and walked out of her room, closing the door. She was going to find out who did this to her daughter. Sometimes she wished her daughter had a older sibling to look after her. Were sistersDisclaimer prologue Ch2 We sisters "My child you have found her!“ exclaimed her mother, well their mother I suppose. "Mama, what are you talking about,“ questioned Showtime. “This is your sister, cherish each other my child,“ said her mother. “I will mama,” said Showtime. “Good, you’re my good girl, I love you Showtime,“ said her mother softly, slowly drifting off into the grim reapers grip. “Mama, mama!” said Showtime shaking her mother gently, but she was all ready gone. “I am so sorry,“ said Opal out of no where. “What would you know about it, get out,“ said Showtime in grief and anger. She did not care that it was her sister, she had just kicked out, she just wanted to sob for days. But Opal had not left, for her heart would not let her. “Really, I am sorry about your mother,” said Opal going in close to the mare she hardly knew and hugged her. Showtime was shocked but then relaxed because the hug was a warm sense of love that she needed. “Why would you hug me, you hardly even know me,“ said Showtime. “You look like you needed a hug,“ said Opal sincerely. In the next few months, several things happened. They buried their mother, Showtime broke the news that they were sisters, at first Opal didn't believe her, but after going though several photo albums and looking at each others birth certificate, Opal was finally convinced. Opal then moved in with Showtime to help with rent, and she also needed a place to stay. Opal wrote to her father soon after she had moved in, and her father replied saying he would visit when he had enough bits. But soon Opal and Showtime became low on bits and had to search for a job. Opening nightCh 6 Opening night The next day at the silver steps "Alright gather round," said Theo. The ponies obeyed, almost all of them mares. After hours of rehearsal. Opal and Showtime were sweating and hot. They went back to the flat and showered before getting dressed in their matching outfits, they also applied the little make up needed. "Come on, we got to go," said Opal trotting on the spot. "OK," said Showtime, adjusting her hair accessories and outfit. They off after that to the Silver Steps, they sneaked in and out easily. The Silver Steps was in full swing, the many mares were in the dressing room, looking in the mirrors, applying make up, and just generally primping, some-were finishing off getting dressed. "Two minutes everypony," screamed Theo from outside the room. The girls rushed and checked there reflections. Soon the time came when they were dragged up on stage Opal was on harmonies and Showtime was a dancer behind Taullaugh. Taullaugh made sure of that. It all was going well, Taullaugh was half way though her song when Showtime missed a step and knocked all the other dancers. over. Everypony stopped as Taullaugh stomped her hoof and walked off stage, like a spoiled foal throwing a tantrum. The curtains shut quickly. "Tallaugh, wait," said Lillian, getting up from the mass of dancers that had fallen on her, and running after her it was like a strange domino effect. Many moans and groans came from the pile of dancers, but they did manage to untangle themselves eventually. Opal got up from the side of the stage to see if Showtime was OK, but in the process she tripped and made the stage curtains fling open. Her hoof got caught round the string that opened the curtains. This made Opal be flung up in the air and smack into Theo, knocking him over and leaving her stood over him. His fedora had been blown off his head and for the first time Opal saw the contrast between the blue of his eyes and the dark ginger of his mane. His dark ginger mane made his eyes stand out, and those eyes could melt your butter and any mares heart. "Sorry, uhm, I'm so sorry," said Opal, still standing over him. "That's, uh, alright," Theo replied. "No it's not, here-here's your fedora," she said, moving off of him and handing him the fedora. "Let me help you up," she said, helping him up. "Are you hurt?" asked Opal worriedly. "Stop fussing, I'm fine Opal, no harm done" spoke Theo, finally having a chance to talk. "No, how can I began to say I'm sorry," said Opal. "Well, you can start by going out for coffee with me," said Theo nervously. "It's a date," replied Opal, kissing him again on the check, then walking away feeling very wonder rush, leaving Theo blushing. "Looks like somepony's got a date," teased Showtime from on stage. "Shut up," said Opal blushing. Then they went back to the flat, but Opal couldn't stop smiling and was so happy. The dateCh 7 The date Two days later "Opal, Opal hurry up, you'll be late for your date," said Showtime, standing at the door. Showtime then helped Opal finish off getting ready. "Thanks for helping me sis, but you've got to go, you’ll be late for the show,“ said Opal. "Alright, I'm going, have a fun time OK" said Showtime walking out the door. "Yes, I will," said Opal, brushing her mane into place. Twenty minutes later. Opal left in the flat in her best dress, it was a long, flowing red dress with a jewel on the front that made it sparkle. And a veil that covered her face. They were meeting outside the Steps, but when Opal got there, what she found was Theo snogging (kissing with tongues) Taullaugh. "What are you doing ? I thought you liked me," screamed Opal at Theo. Theo saw Opal and shoved Taullaugh off him. "Wait, Opal, its not what you think, wait," shouted Theo trotting after her. But Opal was galloping too fast for Theo to catch up and he lost her. Opal had turned into the new park, her hooves were throbbing. She sat in the park, looking down at a puddle covered in mud, wondering what was wrong with her. And if it couldn't get worse, it started raining. Opal leaned down in the rain and mud. Her outift was ruined and covered in mud (good rarity wasn't there, she would scream). Her mane was tangled and mangled. She didn't care anymore, she just couldn’t believe how naive she was, and wanted the earth to swallow her whole for trusting such a jerk.
