Searching for a job
"Showtime wake up, we got to go before the land lord gets here," said Opal, shaking showtime lightly.
"What, Opal," said Showtime dreamily.
"Get up," said Opal firmly, in a no nonsense tone.
"Alright, I'm getting up," said Showtime getting up, picking up a brush she began to brush her mane.
10 minutes later, Opal appeared at her door, galloping on the spot impatiently. At that moment they heard a loud knocking on the door.
"Miss time, miss time," said the land lord, wanting his rent.
They just froze. "I told you to get up earlier," whispered Opal.
"Shut up," replied Showtime even quieter.
20 minutes
"Let me in now!" cried the land lord angrily and very loudly, pounding his hoof on the door, nearly breaking it.
"Shoot, what do we do now?" whispered Opal, panicking.
"Uhm, fire escape," whispered Showtime a little louder, pointing a hoof to the flat window, they both rushed to the window, trying to making as little noise as possible. They slowly, quietly lifted the window with their hooves, and they made there way to the fire escape. But, they both got on the old, rusty fire escape together. What they didn't realize was that it was not stable for the weight of two ponies. It gave way, but Opal caught the ladder. Showtime grasped onto Opal's hoof with such grip that it made Opal yelp out in pain.
“Opal what are you doing? Fly!”shouted Showtime.
Opal didn't reply, and began to blush.
“Fly!”shouted Showtime.
“I can't!” she shouted back.
“What kinda-?!“ yelped Showtime, but was cut off by the wind flowing into her lungs making her future attempts inaudible. They both landed in the massive dumpster with a loud thud. Opal and Showtime peered their heads out of the dumpster. Opal found her self nose to nose with a pink stallion with the most beautiful blue eyes. Then Showtime popped her head out. Suddenly the stallion laughed because Showtime had a banana skin.
"What are you doing in the trash?" asked the pink stallion.
"What are you doing outside a dumpster were you neither live nor work? I've never seen you around here," asked Showtime.
"Actually, for your information, I work at the local book shop and was binning some of our old supplies," said the stallion.
"OK, seems legit," said Showtime.
"Who are you?" asked Opal cutting Showtime off before see asked another pointless question.
"My name is Theo Whooves,“ said the pink stallion, blushing at his name.
During this time Showtime had got out of the dumpster and was helping Opal out.
"Nice to meet you I suppose. I'm Opal, and this is Showtime," said Opal while searching her wing for any damage.
"Same," said Showtime grumpily.
"So, how did you to end up in the trash?" asked Theo.
"Uhm-," started Opal, but was cut off by Showtime.
"Bozo here can't fly, so we fell,” said Showtime.
“But shes a Pegasus,” said Theo.
“Yeah, I know, just drop it,” answered Opal.
“Oh, I see, land lord,” said Theo as he saw an older, angry stallion come out of the building.
“Shut up, help us hide,” said Opal.
“Alright, cause we go back a whole twenty minutes,” he said sarcastically.
“Please,” the two mares pleaded.
“OK, follow me, you can hide at the shop,” said Theo, showing them the way.
It didn't take long for them to find the shop, and they dodged the attention of the land lord. Theo ushered the two mares in the back door. To their amazement, what they found was not a humble book shop, but a full running speakeasy with chorus mares signing on stage, and many pony’s watching them.
“What is this place?” asked Opal in amazement.
“The Silver Steps,” answered Theo.
“Wow,” said Showtime.
