Tarnished Silver

"Hello? Manehattan General Hospital." The nurse picked up the phone and answered it. She heard an exasperated male on the other end.

"We need the maternity ward, my wife is having a baby!"

"What is your address sir? We shall dispatch some nurses immediately." She responded calmly.

"Yes, of course. The address is 5 Mumbo Road." He replied.

"Thank you sir, they shall arrive within half an hour." The nurse thanked him and hung up. She called up some nurses and told them the address of the home they were to go to.

"Congratulations. It's a beautiful, healthy filly." The midwife said. She handed the little grey filly to her mother and checked to make sure that everything was safe. "We will take our leave now. We hope the both of you will be very happy with your new foal" She continued and lead the other nurses back to Manehattan General.

It was supposed to be the greatest moment of their married life but there was something wrong. It was the way her husband looked at their daughter. She would have passed it off as nervousness before but now …

“Honey? Sweetheart, is something wrong?” She asked him.

“Unicorn.” He growled under his breath. She looked down at her bundle of joy and saw that their daughter was indeed a unicorn.

“Pardon? Swee-” She was interrupted by her husband yelling back.

“DON'T YOU DARE SWEETIE ME! SHE'S A BE-TARTARUS-DAMNED UNICORN!”  He yelled. She only stared in shock. Why would he think something like that? She was loyal only to him!

“Wh-whatever do you-” She was once again interrupted by her husband.

“YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH A BUCKING UNICORN!” He yelled at her, un.

At this point there were tears in her eyes and the baby started to cry.
