Mal Acteby SoulpupChaptersChapter 1 - The BorderChapter 2 - Friendly encounterChapter 3 - First Strike (Unedited)Chapter 4 - Close call (Unedited)Chapter 1 - The BorderIt was a cool calm night on the border separating Equestria and the Griffon Territory. Two guards stood place near the gate. Off in the distance they could hear somepony approaching and talking. They stood guard calmly, expecting just another merchant or tourist. “Yes, I understand. I know what I have to do.” The pony said, getting closer into hearing distance. He said nothing more until he was hoofsteps away from the guards. He was an unicorn with golden messy hair. He stared at them for a moment through his steel-like red tinted goggles. The guards looked suspiciously at him as most of his cyan fur was covered in what seemed to be armor with small magic aura. His left hoof had something over it that was open at the bottom. It looked as if magic held together puzzle pieces as it flowed back and forth through the object. On his right hoof was another one of these bands that held a small crystal in it that seemingly glew with power. The entire armor set seemed to glow slightly. His midsection was girded with a belt with many pockets. The guards didn’t know what was in them, but something wasn’t right about them. Finally breaking the silence, the mysterious armored pony spoke to the guards. “You know it isn’t nice to stare, correct?” He stated, the guards looked him in the eyes. “Guess not. Anyway, I need to get to Equestria and really don’t have any time to sit and chat. May I go through?” He asked. “Do you have anything to prove who you are or why you need to go?” One guard asked. The armored pony just sighed. “No, I don’t sadly. There must be another way I can go in though. Besides you don’t ask most ponies nor griffons this, why me?” He questioned. “They have passed through multiple times and have been deemed trustworthy without any need for suspicion.” The guard answered. “This is your first time to this gate.” The unicorn nodded. “Yeah, it sure is.” He agreed. “So, you guys are suspicious of me is what I’m hearing. How do you know that I’m not trustworthy?” “You don’t have proof on who you are or why you are trying to get inside Equestria.” The other guard spoke up in a firm tone. “Plus almost nopony shows up to the gates like that.” The unicorn looked at himself. “Oh, I see. You think that if I’m wearing something, I’m suspicious and potentially dangerous. That’s very judgemental.” He commented. The guards began to become annoyed with the unicorn. “Who are you and why do you wish to enter?” One guard asked, not relenting in his hostility at all. “I have personal business I must attend to in Equestria and I’m running rather short on time to get it done. That is why I need to get through here as fast as possible.” He answered. “We still have no proof whether this ‘business’ is good or not. We cannot let you through with that.” The other concluded. “Ugh… I don’t have time for this.” The unicorn said and began walking forward in between the guards. They stepped in front of him and readied their spears for any forceful attempt to pass. They then noticed the actual facial features of the unicorn. He was not old whatsoever, somewhere in his teens years. “Halt, you cannot pass.” They announced. He looked at them and smiled. “Fine.” He walked back and his horn began to glow. Suddenly he aimed his right hoof at one of the guards and a blast of magic fired from the object. It hit the guard and knocked him airbound and into the gate itself. The standing guard glanced at his fallen ally and then back to the attacking pony. The unicorn only looked at the guard, who got into a fighting position. “This really shouldn’t be necessary. You should’ve just let me go.” He said, staring into the guards eyes. “You can’t handle my power, so please do me, yourself and your friend a favor. Let me pass, nice and easy.” “I cannot.” The guard stated after aiming his spear towards the pony. He tsked. “Fine, I’ll have a bit of fun with you at least.” He said getting in a pouncing position and his horn began to glow. The guard’s eyes sharpened on him, ready for anything. Ace… “Yeah, Yeah, I know. I just wanna make sure I know how to do this.” He spoke out loud, confusing the guard. ...So be it, just hurry… “Got it.” He smiled and then with a flash of light, temporary blinding the guard appeared behind the guard. He disarmed the guard with a quick hoof and sent him a few yards back from where he was standing. The guard recovered and took a small step back. “Now, we fight like real colts. Hoof to hoof. I win, I pass. You win, I don’t pass. Sound fair?” The unicorn offered. The guard wasn’t accepting any terms. Instead he charged at the unicorn. Aiming for his face, the guard swung a quick right hoof towards the unicorn. The unicorn sidestepped him and spun around for a buck. The guard noticed this and rolled away just in time. The guard quickly regained his hoofing and got ready for another attack. The unicorn smirked. “You are more agile than you look. Too bad it won’t help you this time.” He stated, leaping towards the guard. He drew back his left hoof and the guard began to position himself for another dodge. The hoof came down only for the guard to move just in time. The unicorn was ready for the counter attack, so when the guard stomped downwards at him; he bounced out of the way. The moment the unicorn landed, he jumped toward the guard again. The guard got ready to suffer the blow. The unicorn nicked the guard’s face. The guard took this opportunity to stop the fight. He spun around quickly and aimed for the unicorn’s face. There was no time to be gentle. He bucked as hard as he could, yet he felt nothing but air. The unicorn had ducked expertly and now had an opportunity to knock the guard down. The unicorn took it by ramming himself with as much force as he could pushing off of the ground into the open chest of the guard. The guard felt the air knocked out of him and he flipped over and landed on his back. Even without air, he tried to stand back up. The unicorn watched as he slowly got on his hooves. “Still fighting, huh? Big mistake, this time you’ll stay down.” He stated jumping at the guard for the final blow. The guard, unable to dodge, was knocked back a few feet and onto his side by the unicorn. The guard was down with no air in his lungs and now bleeding from his jaw. The unicorn walked towards him. The barely conscious guard could only look at the unicorn, who wore a small smile upon his face. “You really should have just let me pass.” He said, taking the keys from under the guard’s armor. “Oh well, I’m feeling merciful right now. So when you and your friend wake up, you guys can go report to the higher-ups about me together.” He walked over to the gate and unlocked it for himself. With one more glance toward the guard, he said his final words to him. “Tell them that Corrupt was responsible for this.” He then threw the keys back towards the guard and walked through the gate, closing the door behind him. He was now in Equestria. ...Ace, are you sure you know what you’re doing? “I’m positive, my friends. We, together, can now begin what we came here to do.” He reassured the voices he heard. Do you know where to begin? “In the first town we come across.” He smiled as he began walking down the long path. I know exactly how this will all work out. My friends, you will not be disappointed. Corrupt thought to himself. Chapter 2 - Friendly encounterCorrupt walked down the road that led from the gate throughout the night. He was eager to reach his first hotspot and didn’t want to stop despite his tiredness. The sun had already started to rise by the time he saw anything that looked like civilization. He came across a small farm with many fields. He had never seen anything like it before so he took a moment to gaze at the crops growing. Seeing all the food-to-be make his stomach growl. He hadn’t eaten since he left on his mission. He pondered the best route of obtaining food. Hmm, I could just take some and be on my way. That would be simple, but maybe I can get more from this… He began to stroll towards what seemed to be a long narrow driveway. Ace, you aren’t planning on confronting anypony living here, are you? The voice inside himself asked. “Of course I am.” He spoke out loud, continuing towards the house. “I’m gonna see if I can’t help myself to a good meal and maybe a place to rest.” He told them. You don’t have time to waste here, Ace. They told him. Corrupt rolled his eyes. “Yeah, well I can’t do anything without any energy. It would be pointless to move on without getting something in my body, whether it be food, water or just some sleep.” Before he knew it, Corrupt was almost on the front porch. “Look, I’m sorry. I just want to be prepared in case anything that would require me to be at my best happened.” ...We can’t take constant breaks like this, you need to understand that. This once is all that I can allow. After we begin, there will be no time to stop and rest peacefully. I do hope you have a plan for later. “I do, so there’s nothing to worry about.” He walked up to the porch. “Now, let me work my magic…” Right as he went to knock, an amber-coated pony opened the door. She had a brown mane and emerald eyes. “Oh, howdy there. Didn’t expect company.” She said. “Yeah, sorry about the intrusion on your land. I’m just a bit lost is all.” Corrupt said. His stomach growled for them both to hear. Corrupt acted a bit surprised, but on the inside he knew that couldn’t have come at a better time for him. “Ya also seem to be a bit hungry. At least from what Ah heard.” She commented. Corrupt looked away and tried to force a small blush. “Yes, it would seem I haven’t eaten in a good while.” He said scratching the back of his head. Acting was not his forte, but he thought he was playing his part just fine. The amber pony looked at him for a moment before stepping aside. “Why don’t ya step in and take a break? Ah can get ya something ta eat.” She said with a small welcoming smile. “I couldn’t ask you to do that…” Corrupt paused. “But it would be greatly appreciated.” He added stepping inside. “My name is Ace by the way. Thank you for welcoming me into your home.” He bowed as a sign of respect. She laughed. “No need for that. My name is Amber Berry, nice ta meet ya.” She said. “Ah run this farm with a few of my brothers and sisters, ya can meet them later. Until then, have a seat right there and Ah’ll make ya something.” Corrupt listened to her and sat where he was told as she left the room. Amber Berry, huh? It fits I guess. She returned about five minutes later with a large plate with many sandwiches on it. Some had hay in the middle, others had apples and yet others had what looked to be strawberry jam. “Ah don’t know what ya like, so Ah gave ya a few choices.” “You didn’t have to, I shouldn’t even be here so I woulda gladly eaten anything you would have given me.” Corrupt said. “But what if Ah gave ya somethin ya were allergic ta?” She asked and sat down next to him. “Well…” He looked away for a moment thinking of an answer. “That’s a good question. Good thing I think I’m not allergic to anything.” She grabbed a hay sandwich and he followed by levitating a jam sandwich. “Did you really put that thought into making just simple sandwiches?” “Well Ah wouldn’t wanna be a bad host, now would Ah?” She asked him, following up with the first bite. He looked at her and smiled. “You know, you are too considerate. Especially to a stranger like me.” Corrupt stated. “What do ya mean ‘like you’?” Amber asked. “Look at me. Is this all normal?” He said referring to his armor. She looked him over. “No, that certainly ain’t normal. Is it all necessary?” She asked. “Well… Yeah it is.” Corrupt admitted. What for? You’ll never know, but it is… “Then Ah have no reason ta bug ya about it.” She said. “Now, eat up will ya?” Corrupt glared at the sandwich. He took a bite and set it back down. Amber looked at him worried. “Here, I can’t let such a favor go unpaid.” He opened one of his pockets and levitated 5 bits out of it and set them on the table. “Ah’m not asking ya ta pay me.” Amber said. “I insist… I know it’s so little it won’t help much, but that is the best I can do.” Corrupt said. “Please take it, I’d be honored if you would.” Amber took a moment before hesitantly sliding the bits to her side of the table. They finished the sandwiches in silence, Corrupt deep in thought about what his next step was. He knew that no matter what, he had to leave as soon as possible. “Amber, where is the closest city you know of?” He asked as she took the plate with just crumbs left on it. “Big city? That would be Manehattan.” She answered heading into a different room with the plate. Corrupt got up and began to follow to the door which lead into the kitchen. “How far would it be from here?” He asked trying to sound concerned. He knew he’d get there eventually. “It’s still a good way from here, why? Ya need to get there?” She asked, washing the plate. “I’m trying to find my family. Somewhere big would be a good place to start in my opinion.” He lied. “Oh, well Manehattan is still miles away.” She said finishing the plate. “Ah wish Ah could help ya, but Ah can’t.” Amber said. “The best Ah can do is point ya the right way.” Corrupt frowned on the outside. “Oh, I understand. You gotta help with the farm.” He said. I can’t stay here much longer, I should take that deal and go. “Well, could you?” “Sure.” She said and walked outside to the road with Corrupt. After he convinced Amber that he needed to go immediately, she pointed a hoof to the right. “Continue that way until ya start ta see signs sayin otherwise.” “Thanks Amber, you’ve been a great help.” Corrupt said. “Not a problem, ya’ll sure ya don’t need anymore help?” She offered a final time. “No, I’ll be fine. Besides, you’ve helped enough already.” Corrupt said. He smiled and began to head down the road. He turned and waved. “Bye Amber, maybe our paths will cross again soon.” She waved back with a small smile. “Goodbye Ace, be safe!” Corrupt turned back and continued to trot down the road again. “Maybe we will, Ah sure hope so…” Amber whispered quietly to herself. You are quite the actor Ace… “You think? I thought I messed up a lot.” Corrupt admitted. Well now that you’ve had a small break, we must continue. “I understand this. That’s why I got what we needed and left. She was nice about everything too, it couldn’t have been much easier.” Corrupt said. Too bad, I’m sure we woulda been good friends. Manehattan is our first target then. “Indeed.” Corrupt smiled as he walked down the empty road. Chapter 3 - First Strike (Unedited)Corrupt continued down the road as instructed for hours. He reached the edge of Manehattan as the sun began to reach the middle of the sky. Looking towards the city made him smile. It was time for his first big hit. “Manehattan looks huge.” He stated out loud as he walked down the bridge that lead into the inner city. He was tired and craved sleep, but he was so close to starting his mission. Indeed, which is why I have to warn you not to begin the moment you get in... “What? Why not?” Corrupt asked. The voice didn’t answer him for a moment. He yawned. “Well?” The reason is clear Ace... You are tired and need to rest. Corrupt rolled his eyes. “Sleep is for the weak. I could do this in my sleep anyway, I’ll rest afterward. Besides, it is you who told me that we couldn’t take peacefully little rests.” You aren’t immortal Ace. I realize I said we couldn’t rest, but we haven’t started just yet. If we rushed in now, you could be shut down immediately without opposition. Corrupt went silent as the voice continued to lecture him. He walked towards the city at a slow pace. I guess he is right… “Fine, I’ll rest up when we get into the city.” Do you have an idea where? The voice asked. Corrupt thought about it for a moment. “I’m sure we can find somewhere.” He concluded. Corrupt went into the alleyway. “Wow, this city is huge. I’ll never find a good place to sleep.” He made it to the middle of the two exits and leaned up against the walls of a building. He looked towards the sky. It was barely there between the two buildings. Rest here Ace… Without even responding he slumped over on his side. He yawned once more and closed his eyes. “We’ll start the mission after I’m rested, right?” He asked already being to feel slumber overcome him. Yes, once you awake. The voice confirmed. A cocky smile took over Corrupt’s face as his mind began to drift away from reality. Hours passed as Corrupt slept. Nopony came through the alleyway and he remained hidden throughout his entire rest. The day had shifted into night by the time Corrupt became conscious again. The alleyway was dark and the only light inside was broughten by a light near the backdoor to one of the buildings. Corrupt began to stand and stretch. Alright. he thought to himself as he made sure he could move everything comfortably. Yeah, this is much better… Even though the ground was kinda rough… His thoughts were interrupted however. Ace, are you ready? The voices asking to confirm once before they allowed him to begin. “You know it.” He answered in his cocky fashion and headed towards the end of the alleyway. What he saw amazed him at first. Even though it was clearly night, many ponies were still out and about tending to their own business. Lights from advertisements, apartments and just plain street lights lit up everything. Corrupt had to take a moment to admire everything. “Wow, this is quite the sight. I’ve never seen anything like it.” Corrupt spoke out loud. A new adventure is sure to bring new surprises Ace, you of all ponies should know that. The voice told him. Corrupt had told his friend about all sorts of adventures that he had been on. None of them had a meaning like this one however. “I do know that.” Corrupt stated. “But now it’s time to begin.” Corrupt walked down the sidewalk, looking for the perfect building to begin his mission. He came across a duller looking building with the front sign that read “Manehattan Police Force”. Man, I know what this building needs… Corrupt’s horn began to glow and a wild smile grew as he aimed towards the buildings. Some ponies saw this and began to back again. Corrupt let his shot charge a moment before letting a magical blast off into the building’s front door. He smiled as the front half exploded. Rumble fell from the sky and all that anypony could see was smoke and fire. Ponies around screamed and ran. Corrupt admired his work for a moment, a few ponies managing to stumble or even crawl out of the once proud structure. He looked around then and couldn’t hold it in. “This is gonna be so fun!” He said nearly hopping for joy. “I can’t wait to tear this place down to the ground!” Ponies around him scrambled in all directions. Corrupt took aim at the next building and began to charge his attack. His target now was a four story high structure. With a blast, it tumbled over on itself. Once a large well built establishment was now only rumble with many ponies under. There was without a doubt casualties. “This is just way too easy.” He said to himself over all the noise of panic. Don’t get cocky Ace. “Don’t worry about it. I got this.” Corrupt said. Building after building fell. The screams of many could be heard through the crumbles and crashes. Corrupt felt so happy. He was destroying everything in sight. The only safe area was underground, in which few ponies were lucky enough to escape to. To Corrupt, he was pleasing his friends. All this pain and suffering from everypony else meant nothing. He knew that he could make them happy and that’s all that mattered anymore. With each blast and every structure down, he was making them happy. The entire center of the city was reduced to rubble before something even dared to intimidate Corrupt. After dropping another building without a probably, Corrupt heard a sound he was unsure about. He looked around trying to find the source. It got louder until finally Corrupt looked up. A helicopter slowly drifted to the ground. Once the helicopter stopped its engine, the door opened. Two heavily armored earth ponies stepped out. They didn’t approach Corrupt however. No words were said, the mental battle went on in silence. That is until another pony stepped out of the helicopter. “I thank you for waiting.” The unicorn stepped out. He had little armor. Only over his chest and neck was there any protection. His maroon coat glowed in the fire from the burning crumbled buildings in the area. He had a violet colored mane that was straight and clean. “Not a problem.” Corrupt answered. His mouth couldn’t help but form a small smile. This pony was different, Corrupt knew this. Ace, this is dangerous, you must be careful. “I know that.” Corrupt said, answering his friends. “Oh, what do you know?” The opposing unicorn asked as he levitated a double edged sword from out of the sheath. The question caught Corrupt off guard. “What? Oh, no, I was just answering my friend you see.” He answered honestly. Like it will matter anyway, you’ll die just like everypony else who will try and stop me. “Ah of course. How could I ever think you were alone in this.” The unicorn said. “Anywho, although it is not my name, I am known as Divine. I have come to stop this outrageous act you have brought upon Equestria.” His sword pointed towards Corrupt. The earth ponies now drew their swords as well. “Well Divine, you can call me Corrupt. I can see you think you can stop me, let me change that.” Corrupt’s horn began to glow, but he was interrupted when Divine charged towards him in a single leap. Corrupt managed to dodge the sword that almost impaled him, but only by a few inches. Divine swung again towards Corrupt. It was blocked by Corrupt’s armor. Corrupt used this opportunity to back away for some breathing air. He moves quickly, too quickly. I’ll never hit him with a basic shot… Corrupt anticipated Divine’s next leap and was able to dodge this time without cutting anything close. Corrupt swung his hoof towards the opposing unicorn’s face, only to be knocked away. This opened him up for an attack which Divine dived for. However once the sword drew near Corrupt, a small compulsion of magic knocked Divine a few feet away from Corrupt. “Well, it looks like that armor is something special.” He commented on the armor Corrupt was wearing. “It is. Thank you for noticing that.” Corrupt said. Divine is dangerous Ace, you won’t be able to blast him quick enough. Before the voice could finish, Divine dove again. Corrupt barely dodged again and decided to distance himself. “I realize this, what should I do then?” Corrupt spoke softly. He is quick and I can’t outdo his sword skills easily. I need range… “Attack!” Divine ordered and pointed towards Corrupt. The two earth ponies then charged after Corrupt. He only had seconds before they were right on top of him. The two swung their swords in opposite directions, forming an ‘X’ in their swipes. Miraculously, Corrupt was not hit. Somehow he managed to move perfectly to make both swings miss. He was in a perfect position to counterattack. Launching himself onto his hindhooves, he came down on one of the ponies. The pony fell and began to stand again. His friend swung to get Corrupt away, however; in his haste, Corrupt was able to strike his target once again, this time with enough force to break bones. The pony flew off his hooves and landed on his left side. Blood dripped out of his mouth. Corrupt turned to the other pony. He was already mid-swing for Corrupts head. He bounced back as well as the magic compulse to go off again. These factors are what saved Corrupt’s life. The now enraged pony glared at Corrupt. As it looked that he would attack he was stopped. “Halt!” Divine commanded. “You need to get him to safety.” Divine stepped towards Corrupt again. “Take the heli, I will defeat Corrupt.” The pony looked like he was going to argue, but nodded and returned to the helicopter with the wounded pony. “I underestimated you Corrupt. I apologize, it won’t happen again.” Divine remarked as the helicopter took air. “You shouldn’t have ever.” Corrupt’s horn began to glow as he charged a blast. Divine got in a ready stance. “I will no longer.” Divine promised. “I also want you to know that you will never hit me with that blast.” He stated, completely focused. “I don’t plan to.” Corrupt smiled and fired a fast blast towards the helicopter. A large explosion followed as remains of the helicopter fell from the sky. The explosion lit the area greatly for a moment. Divine knew what was done, he didn’t dare look back. Corrupt’s only issue was now in front of him. “To kick ponies that are already down, you are pitiful.” Divine said. “Had that been me fleeing from you or them, the same result would've happened. But now that you don’t have your backup crew, this should be an even fight.” Corrupt stated. The two stood still, both waiting for the other’s move. So my friends are protecting me with some magical blast barrier… That won’t be good enough though. What to do, what to do..? Corrupt thought to himself. These were interrupted by Divine making a dash for Corrupt. Dodging the first strike, Corrupt stepped outward. However, this is just what Divine wanted. With a sidestep, Divine’s sword went for Corrupt’s neck. Corrupt couldn’t manage to move in time to dodge the blow, his only choice was to reflect it. He did so with his left hoof. Divine countered this with a quick jab for an open spot on Corrupt’s left arm. This time Corrupt was hit. Divine got back before he drove too deep into a fight, Corrupt was now bleeding. “You show promise. It is saddening that it must be cut so short.” Divine commented. A droplet of blood falling off the sword. The glow of the nearby fire’s only made the fight more intense. Corrupt’s mind was racing. He knew he came close to dying there, he didn’t think that Divine would be as fast or elegant with his sword. “I don’t want to die.” Corrupt stated. Though aimed for the voices, Divine heard this too. “After all you have caused Corrupt, I cannot allow you to live.” Divine told him. “Is that you giving in?” Ace, focus. He is fast and his style is harder to predict then it would seem. However, I need to you to listen… “No answer?” Divine said, launching himself back towards Corrupt. This time, Corrupt had the upper hand. Even though wounded, Divine went for an attack too early. Corrupt punished this by moving against it and knocking Divine a few feet back with a left hoof towards the chest. The force only knocked air out of Divine. Corrupt went to dive in towards Divine. Ace halt! Now is your chance focus not on Divine, allow him to recover. Corrupt didn’t want to listen but he did. Stopping himself from charging, Corrupt put even more distance between the two. Ace focus on the ground behind him. Make that your mind. Divine recovered within this time. Corrupt’s armor began to glow, as well as his horn. Now Ace, do you feel that magic growing? This will help you win this fight. “How?” He whispered, low enough so Divine didn’t hear. A sudden aura encased Corrupt completely then linked to the edge of his horn. Shoot that behind him and be ready to strike behind you. Corrupt aimed his horn and shot. Divine thinking it was an offensive shot, dodged it. It struck the ground behind him. Corrupt was now behind Divine, back to back. Divine now wore a panicked expression as he turned. Corrupt was in mid-swing for his face. Not having enough time, Divine was hit into the air. Corrupt then charged a blast as Divine began to stand again. He shot and it directly struck Divine, this time knocking him into a pile of building debris. Corrupt smiled, Divine lay there in the debris not moving. “You were a good fight Divine, but nopony stands in my way.” Corrupt stated to the limp body. He looked at his earned cut. It had bled a good amount of blood now. Ace, we need to leave. The voice told him in his head. Quickly, Corrupt levitated a large band-aid patch over the cut. “Where do we go?” He asked making sure it was firm. To the edge of this city, near the coastline of land. You’re going to have to swim Ace. The voice instructed. Corrupt nodded and turned to Divine one last time. “Nice try.” He said before he headed for the edge of the city. From the center to the edge was a long way. Ponies were now everywhere, ones looking for him specifically. Corrupt cut through alleys that still existed and climbed over and in rumble to avoid these ponies. His mission now was to escape. Most lights were now off, giving Corrupt the advantage to get away. After he made it out of the center of the city, where all still remaining buildings existed, Corrupt ducked and weaved through alleys to get towards the edge. He didn’t want to be seen by anypony or only problems would arise. After the longest game of hide and seek Corrupt has every played, he made it to the edge. He looked over the safety railing. A rather large drop remained. He looked towards the shore, all he could see was the moonlight reflecting onto the water. It wouldn’t stay like that for long though. Soon day would come, and finding him would be a lot easier. Without another doubt or thought, Corrupt leapt over the railing and dove for the water. With a large splash and a few moments under the water, Corrupt surfaced again. He began to swim for the shore. It was a long way, but he was sure he could make it. “Hey,” He said talking to nopony but his ‘friends’. “What was that spell?” It’s an ancient way of teleporting a short distance. It’s dangerous, but if used correctly can turn tides in battles like the earlier one. “Cool, thanks for saving me back there.” Corrupt said. “Now I can get us to shore, just give me a bit.” He assured as he swam away from the city. He was happy with what progress he had made. I will have to return sometime to finish this though… He thought to himself. Chapter 4 - Close call (Unedited) Corrupt got to shore shortly before the sun rose. The band-aid he had put on had barely still held onto his arm. He peeled it off and examined it. More blood than what he expected bled out. The cut itself was still red with blood. “Man, this is ridiculous.” Corrupt said as he layed on the ground, his stomach facing outward. His cut is still bleeding… Before Corrupt could get lost in thought about his previous encounter. Ace, it isn’t safe here. We have to get moving. The voice told him. “I understand this.” Corrupt said, shaking off any thoughts. He rolled over and stood. His left arm was now freely bleeding. Corrupt didn’t like the looks of it and refused to allow it to stay open. “Give me one moment.” He said to the voice. He walked towards the water right off shore. Better than nothing. He thought putting his wound into the ocean’s water. It stung a little, but not as much as the initial blow. After a couple seconds, he removed his arm from the water. He examined it debating how deep the cut really was. It should be fine… He thought holding it up close to him. The blood flow seemed to slow down. He blew on it, trying to make it dry faster so he could put another band-aid on it. About a minute later, Corrupt applied another band-aid. Looking at it, he began thinking about the fight. I got lucky this time. I can’t afford to waste any more medical supplies. He looked towards the smoking Manehattan. Next time Divine, I’ll make sure I don’t have to worry about you again. But until then… Ace, are you ready to move? The voice asked, getting impatient. “Yeah, let’s go.” He said turning away from the city. He climbed off the shore and outwards till coming to train tracks. “These came and went from Manehattan, didn’t they?” He smiled. “If so, we can just follow them to the next spot.” It would seem that way. The voice commented and Corrupt nodded. He began walking down the tracks. Be very aware of your surrounds though. “I think I’ll be able to hear a train coming.” Corrupt said. The voice were silent as Corrupt followed the tracks, leaving him all to his own thoughts. Every now and again he would glance at the wound Divine had given him. He was so fast. Corrupt began thinking back to the fight as well as the entire adventure so far. Divine really has been the only challenge. The city, the guards, mother and father… Nopony really showed any resistance. Divine alone, however, put me right on the spot. None of Corrupt’s adventures have ever been like this. This was already proving to be a true test of his ten years experience. As he thought back to it, all his other adventures had been completed quickly. He knew that this time would take more than a few simple days. After Manehattan was hit, he understood the challenge more. His friends wanted a lot from him and he was willing to do it make them happy. He had always been that way for his friends. Corrupt thought about his old friends, but something wasn’t right. He could remember small things about them and what adventures they had been on, but their names were lost. Corrupt got lost in thought about this, trying hard to remember even a single name. Not one came to mind before his thought time was interrupted. Ace, look ahead. At first, the voice surprised Corrupt and snapped him from his past into reality. He looked forward, as the voice commanded. In front of him was a cave. The entrance was just big enough for a train to go through. “Well then, hopefully we don’t have to race a train.” Corrupt stated, hoping silently he didn’t just jinx himself. You can’t outrun a train. I recommend finding a different path. The voice suggested. “No, that’d take too long. Time isn’t really our friend anymore.” Corrupt said, getting ready to walk into the cave. He looked at his arm with the band-aid. You had better stay put if anything happens. Once inside of the cave, Corrupt realized how close the walls were. If a train wanted to pass through, he was doomed. He paced himself a bit quicker and tried to remember the distance of each track. Everything seemed to be alright until he saw a faint light in the distance. He glared at it a moment, trying to determine what it was. A train whistle blew, but not from in front of him. He turned and saw another light getting bigger and brighter as it approached. His body jumped a moment before he turned around, running for safety. The train behind him was faster by a lot and was catching up. Corrupt still had a way to go before being actually close to the exit of the cave. I’ve got a chance to make it… He closed his eyes, letting his mind take over in memory of the tracks. He focused on not misplacing his hooves before opening his eyes again. The light of safety was close and he could make it in time. He turned his head back and saw that the light of death was a lot closer than beforehand. He turned back and kicked it into high gear. However, he misstepped and got his back hoof stuck. As he fell, he panicked. His mission, his adventure, his friends and his life may all be over for this one mistake. He charged a small blast and shot it at the board holding him down. Corrupt immediately sprinted for the exit. It was so close, but the train was the same distance as the exit now. He could feel the train right behind him as he reached the end of the tunnel. Diving for the left, the train barely missed his back hooves as he went rolling to the side. He took a moment to breathe on the ground before turning around at what just about ended his life. From where he was laying, a good portion of the train had already passed him. Though heavy breaths, he made a comment about what had been said earlier. “Can’t outrun a train, huh? I think I just did.” He said, bringing a cocky smile. You are lucky to have escaped that Ace. Had the train been any closer before you discovered its presence, you would have been hit. The voice spoke to him back. Corrupt just was glad to be alive and well. Blasting the train would’ve just ended poorly. It would have made the tunnel collapse on top of him. Running was the only thing he could have done, and he had did it. He looked at his band-aided arm. You listened to me… He thought, seeing that the band-aid had not moved. Corrupt stood up, his hooves shaken from the train race but could still walk. After the train completely went by, he headed down the tracks again. That was a very risky move. The voice said to him. He nodded, knowing how close to failure he was. “But it was much quicker and now we still have a track to follow. It was close, but it was worth it since we made it out.” Corrupt said. Indeed. The voice agreed. Corrupt walked on down the track the train had followed. Corrupt wandered about an hour down the tracks. It lead him into a forest. It was peaceful and quiet, surprisingly in really good shape too. However, Corrupt paid no attention to it. He was on a mission and didn’t have time to just sight see a few trees. “Do you think we’re getting close?” He asked, sounding a little impatient with how long he had walked. The tracks have to lead somewhere Ace. I can’t answer where or how long it will take. The voice answered him. Corrupt sighed at the answer. “I only asked if you thought we were getting somewhere, not if you knew.” Corrupt commented. I would believe we are. The voice replied to him. “I sure hope you’re right. I imagine it doesn’t take too much time for word to get around.” Corrupt said. “I don’t think they’d be prepared for us, but it would be best not to give them time to be, right?” That would be prefered. However, even if we manage to catch them off guard here, I fear the rest of Equestria will be prepared. The voice paused momentarily. Corrupt knew that his friend wasn’t done, so he stayed silent. Ace, it’s too late to leave now. I hope you realize that. “I do. Besides, even if I wanted to, where would I leave to? The only way to go is forward, I understand that clearly.” Corrupt stated in an unusual serious manner. I’m glad to hear that. The voice told him. The silence between the two resumed until Corrupt stopped on the tracks about fifteen minutes later. He pointed forward towards a small group of buildings. “Well look at that, we were close… kinda.” Corrupt said. A small settlement in the middle of the forestry. Had we not followed the tracks, we may have not found this place. The voice told him. “Well, I’m glad we did then.” Corrupt continued towards the structures. “It looks like a total of about sixteen or so buildings. I don’t think they’d know about us yet.” It seems unlikely, but you are still suspicious. Armor like this isn’t common and the only way most get here seems to be trains. Corrupt looked closer towards the village. From what he saw, there were no roads or paths that lead outside other than the train tracks. “I see what you mean.” He told his friend. He was getting close now and he could tell details of a few ponies. Some looked like they were working, others just chatting. “However, that won’t be an issue whatsoever…” He smirked.
Chapter 1 - The BorderIt was a cool calm night on the border separating Equestria and the Griffon Territory.
