A Pair of Socks

Princess Luna lie in her bed, she had just woken up after a good night’s sleep. She rolled over only to see her sister, Princess Celestia, holding a gift wrapped box and grinning ear to ear. Luna fell out of her bed in surprise, yelling as she hit the floor.

“Sis, are you okay?” Asked Celestia, trotting around to her sister, still holding the box in her teeth. Luna rubbed her head and stood up, frowning at her sister’s actions.

“Sister how many times have I told you not to sneak up on me like that?” Luna scolded, and Celestia giggled, holding out the box. Luna looked at it suspiciously. Even as a foal., Celestia had always been a prankster. She was very immature for a princess.

“I got you a present sis!” She thrust the box to Luna. Luna took it and shook it. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong. “Consider it a welcome back present, as well as an apology for... well... sending you to the moon.” She grinned at Luna, and Luna frowned again.

“Celestia, I’ve been home for a year. What are you trying to pull?” She examined the box closely, expecting it to explode.

“Aw sis, I was just trying to help.” She pouted and Luna sighed.

“Fine. I’ll open it.” Celestia grinned and Luna pulled the ribbon off of the box, lifting the cover with the utmost care. Inside the box, was a pair of socks. They were a dark blue, and they had frills around the top that were a lighter blue. Luna lifted them out of the box, confused. “Socks?”

Celestia giggled. “Yeah sis, they’ll help you fit in around here! Try ‘em on!” Luna obliged and put them on, then looked in the mirror.

“Uh... sister... aren’t these a bit... scanty?” Luna inquired, and Celestia walked up behind her, holding the box. Luna looked inside to see a magazine. It was titled “Playcolt”. Curious, Luna picked up the magazine and opened it up, only to find a large picture of a pony in a seductive position. She blushed and dropped the magazine. “Sister what is this... this... blasphemy?”

Celestia laughed and picked up the magazine. “Aw sis, don’t be so serious! Things have changed in 1000 years. That’s why I’m here to help YOU find a stallion!” She giggled and Luna frowned.

“Sister, I don’t WANT a stallion, you know that. Remember what happened last time?” She shuddered at the thought.

“I thought you liked him.” Celestia said playfully. Luna sighed and gently pushed Celestia out of the room. Celestia smiled. “Alright sis, I understand you want to be alone.” She turned and walked away, flicking her tail. Luna sighed and closed the door.

“I’ll never understand what her problem is...” She chuckled to herself and looked at the socks. “Scanty as they may be... they were a gift, and are extremely comfortable. Nopony is around, so I think I’ll just wear them for the time being.” She trotted over to her bed and took her book from the nightstand. “Time for a bit of reading.” She smiled and lay on her bed, her heavenly flank facing the door.

She opened up her book and began to read, completely oblivious to the world around her. She read silently for a full twenty minutes, until there was a knock at the door. “Come in!” She said, not realizing that it could have been anypony. She turned around to see a royal guard standing motionless in the doorway, struggling not to show emotion.
