Chapter 1
"Not everything is Ice"
The glorious toll of bells resounded across the city of Arendelle announcing 12 of the night. All around there is darkness and silence, for all the inhabitants were asleep inside their homes. All except the queen, her sister, and an important prince from a faraway kingdom.
Inside the dining room they were having a talk about their kingdom's relations and trading. After about three hours of talk, it was apparent they were all tired.
Elsa smiled as she looked at the prince. He was tall and had ginger hair, a pointy nose and sharp, blue eyes and was wearing typical royal clothing. Anna was trying hard to keep her eyes open as the sleep began to get to her. Finally, a yawn managed to escape her lips. She tried to hide it but to no avail.
"Sorry Prince Albert!" Anna said immediately as the prince stopped talking. Elsa sighed but kept her smile. She also looked tired but was managing to keep it hidden. The prince laughed, yawning once himself.
"Yeah, I supposed I was making too much explanation, and it's late." He stood up from his chair. "I believe we should discuss more about our two kingdom's relations after a good night's sleep, don't you think?" Elsa and Anna immediately stood up.
"Yes!" Both said before realizing what they were doing. Elsa blushed a little.
"Sorry, of course. I believe a good rest is due, Prince Albert. There's a maid out of the hall waiting to show you to your chambers." The queen said. The prince nodded smiling and bowed.
"Good night queen Elsa." He walked and passed behind Anna "Princess Anna." He acknowledged her before walking towards the big dining hall doors. He finally disappeared from sight, leaving the two sisters alone. Anna looked at Elsa.
She smiled. "That was booooring!" Anna exclaimed laughing in an exaggerated manner. Elsa nodded, chuckling.
"It was." Elsa answered. "But he's not that bad." Anna shrugged.
"Whatever you say Elsa." She stood up. "I will get going to my bedroom. See you tomorrow." She began to walk towards the door.
"Anna..." Elsa said. Her sister stopped and looked at her. The queen had used a more serious tone this time.
"What is it Elsa?"
Elsa walked to a window, she seemed a little... sad. "I have to confess something to you." Anna approached her sister. She felt there was something wrong with her sister. Elsa closed her eyes as in thought.
"What?" Anna said after some seconds.
"I... I think I can't go on like this." Elsa finally said. Anna looked at her confused.
"What do you mean?"
Elsa sighed. "You have Christoph, I have no one. I'm alone, and with this powers I just don't know..." She looked at her sister. "You understand love better than I. What do you think I should do?"
Anna stood frozen for a couple of seconds, thinking about how to answer. Her sister had never seem so worried about that problem. In fact, she seemed to never care of that at all. Though now that she though a little more, her sister did seemed a little sad sometimes, especially when Christoph was around. She was always smiling, but now she realized that, deep inside her heart, there was a sadness slowly ganging her from the inside.
Anna cleared her throat and opened her mouth slowly.
"I think that... maybe... you want to find a special some one, THE one. It is not that difficult, you know. Your heart is the answer to that." She felt she had spoken well, but her sister seemed tense.
"I can't feel that. I've never felt that love. Only sisterly, with you, or with our parents..." She looked out the window again. There was a snowstorm falling, not letting her look too far away. She then looked at her hands.
She remembered the gloves she used to wear. Now she always had her hands uncovered all the time. She made a small flurry of snow but quickly disappeared it again when it started to turn red.
Anna noticed.
"Are you having problems again?"
Elsa nodded. "Yes, and it's getting worse each passing day." The queen walked to the table and sat down again. Anna looked at the windowsill and saw that there was some ice just were her sister had touched.
"Remember the key to controlling it Elsa. Love."
Elsa smiled slightly and looked briefly at her sister. "Of course, love..." She looked down at the table again. He voice had sounded... Not convinced.
Anna sat beside her sister. "Maybe you should think of something you love. It should work." Elsa laughed slightly.
"I know the problem, but I can't fix it, not even with your help..."
Anna realized what was happening. She felt bad for not having a special one! She sighed.
"You know, it's not vital for someone or anything..."
"But I feel something wrong, Anna!" She suddenly shouted. Anna took a step back as she noticed the icicles on the ceiling and the ice slowly forming on the table. Elsa sighed and moved her hand, dissipating the snow. Anna turned towards the door.
"I'm afraid that is something I cannot solve for you if you do not let me." She opened the door and as she was closing it, she sighed.
"Not everything is ice, you know?"
The door closed.
Elsa slowly stood up. She was now alone in the dining hall. It was pretty dark except for the little light the candles gave. Elsa smiled.
She sometimes liked to be alone. She could do whatever she wanted.
Making a motion to the door, she heard the click of the lock and, for safety measures, she froze the lock. She turned around and stared at the room.
She smiled as ice began to form beneath her feet. She kicked slightly and it exploded in snow, slowly covering the room. Making another motion with her hands, she began to build ice sculptures. She first made a boat. After feeling it was okay she began with another one. This time she had in mind a horse. She looked how it turned out and smiled.
She looked at another block of ice. Her smiled slowly faded as she thought of a man. He was a prince that had arrived a month ago. At first she had been the same way as she had been with all the princes and royalty before: neutral. He seemed a little cold, too. That she thought until they talked in private, just by mere coincidence. He had been gentle and funny. They had walked around the castle gardens, talking and laughing about unimportant matters. Since that night and until he finally had to leave they did the same. They went to the gardens and spoke. She had even taken him to her ice palace, which she had now repaired with her new knowledge about love.
The prince had needed to leave after a month. He promised he was coming back, but soon had he left that some new arrived: the boat in which he was traveling had sunk. That had struck her hard, almost like her own parent's deaths. Since then she had been having problems with her powers, and no one she was aware or knew why.
She looked at the sculpture of his prince. When she got lost on her memories she had involuntarily sculpted him. She touched his face gently as a year went down her cheek. Everything she had made began to crumble except the prince's sculpture. She was going to dissipate everything when she saw that there was a powerful light behind her. She turned and saw a floating orb of light.
"What is..." She began. The orb floated gently, not moving. 'I better not touch it or do anything. It can be dangerous.' After some thought, she decided to try to walk beside it. As she moved though, the orb followed her.
"How strange..."

Anna stared in amazement at the glowing orb. It had just appeared out of thin air and had been floating in front if her bed. She was laying down, trying to decide what to do at the same time she looked at the beauty of the orb. She slowly moved her hand forward, intent in touching it.
As her hand made contact with the orb, she felt a strong force sending her backwards and a sharp pain in all her body. She screamed as her vision turned black...

Elsa heard her sister scream and shouted.
"Anna!"
The orb suddenly threw itself forward against her. She made an ice barrier between herself and the orb, but it passed it like a ghost, right through it. Elsa covered her face with her hands and closing her eyes. When, after some seconds, she didn't felt anything except for an intense heat she slowly opened her eyes and looked at the orb. It was inches from her face and emanated an intense heat. She didn't moved even when the orb move one inch forward. Then another inch.
Elsa was now gasping, unsure of what to do. She seemed incapable of moving. Trying to move proved useless as she felt stuck in the floor. She stared scared at the orb.
Slowly a trail of light began to get out from the orb and go to Elsa. As soon as the light touched her head she felt a sudden need to sleep. She closed her eyes as a comfortable heat enveloped her body...

The steady sound of dripping water echoed across a cave. Not deep within, an snow-white unicorn mare was laying on the ground, asleep. She moved slightly, her ears twitching at the sound of the water.
Elsa opened her eyes rapidly, blinking a couple of times. She felt strange... And the sudden lack of the warm brace of the orb's heat didn't made it any better. She suddenly felt wrong. Her whole body ached slightly, making her groan and stretch. After a couple of seconds she decided to stand up.
As she did so, she noticed something, specifically her feet and arms, felt strange. She moved looked at her arms and immediately fell backwards at the sight, though also for sudden loss if balance. When she lanced she refused to look back again at her arms. Not even moving them passed through her mind, for she feared she'd look back at them.
She had seen hooves instead of arms. Pure white hooves, and her feet and legs seemed the same. White fur-covered legs with snow-white hooves. She now also noticed her face felt different. As a matter of fact, EVERYTHING felt different and... Wrong...
She steadied her breath, trying slowly to stand up. She guessed she was some sort of equine creature; a horse maybe? Managing to stand up, she felt a sudden fear on her mind.
Her powers...
Would they still work?
What if they didn't?!
She breathed in and out slowly, calming herself. She looked at her... hooves... and felt the power of ice course through her being. The cave floor beneath her hooves started to get covered in ice made into icicle patterns, as well as snow appearing in the air. Elsa smiled.
At least she still had her powers.
She noticed the mouth of the cave where light was filtering into it. After a couple of attempts to get her legs to go in a way in which she didn't stumbled with them.
Outside it was snowing slightly, with white clouds covering the sky and a sense pine forest al through the horizon. She realized she was on a small mountain in a rather big forest. Definitely not someplace anyone would like to get lost...
She looked in the distance, trying to see anything that might help her see were she was. She looked up the mountain as a faint smile formed in her face...

"Ouch! Ow, that hurt..." Anna muttered, moving her hand to her head as the headache subsided. She opened her eyes as a feeling of a bad sleep crept through her being.
Then she noticed her hands were no longer hands. She squealed and fell backwards. That's when she noticed were she was.
She landed hard against her back. Still, she felt something hurt her even more. She quickly turned again upwards and looked at her back. She felt a strange nausea, like if she had just risen from a chair too rapidly after not eating well for a week.
She had wings! Brownish red wings!
And not only she had wings, but her hands were a light brown-colored hooves. She also felt her back different and, as she attempted to stand up normally again, she quickly lost her balance. She felt confused...
What had just happened to her?!
She remained on the floor, facing the clear blue skies for some minutes until her new wings began to hurt. That was it.
She stood up and calmed herself.
"Alright Anna, calm yourself. This is just... a dream! Yes, only a dream, and you will wake up anytime!" She thought out loud. "Nothing to worry about..." She remained immobile, waiting for the time she would finally wake up.
The problem was it never came...
She waited for many minutes until her feet... Err, hooves began to ache.
"Agh!" She shouted in frustration. "Why can't I simply wake up!"
She resigned to look around. She was clearly on a small cliff, from which she had fallen, apparently, from the top. Around the small cliff there was a big plain covered in green grass and in the distance there were some big mountains. She sighed frustrated and tried to walk only to manage falling a couple of feet down the cliff. She stood up again and looked at her wings. They were a mess.
"Alright, I should try to fall less on those..." She muttered to herself.
Anna managed to get on walking, though a little slowly. Not far away, she spotted a trail if smoke. Might as well try and get to know where she was.
She began walking, not noticing the fierce and sharp eyes staring at her not far away...
