Another place, Another job
Celestia's voice rung through Shadow Star's ears, "Be careful. You know your duties.."
But, in all honesty, she didn't. Her mission was simple, find someone, someone who needed a friend more than anyone else. But who?
In an instant, her body was shifting and the world was changing around her. A stormy field came into view, but it was below her. She was falling. Falling! She spread out her dark wings, but that didn't slow her down at all. She tried magic, but didn't know any spells to slow herself down. The wind buffeted her dark mane, the rain and wind washed out her cries for help. In a moment she hit branches, and crashed into the ground.
Josh led AppleJack up the hill to graze. He was a young man, at the age of sixteen, the youngest of three children. His mother ran a pony farm, but since he was a child, he has been very afraid of any equestrian creature. AppleJack, however trotted gleefully up the muddy dirt path, while he led her up the path, pulling the rope tightly. Left to do the work his brother, Peter, was too lazy to. He thought about his sister Sam, who was 'too busy' training the newest fillies. He couldn't believe he had to go back and get Rainbow Dash, the newest mare, too.
He saw something dark sleeping under the old beech tree. Upon further investigation, he found it was a pony. Black coated, with long flowing mane. Her wing was deeply cut, but she was covered in more, more shallow cuts on her body and face. She was muddy and wet, and her hind leg was twisted inward slightly. He bent down and scooped up the wet, shivering mare. "It's okay. Shh" He reassured her as he rushed her back to the farm.
Even though he wasn't a pony person, he felt deep sympathy for the shivering mare. He was told by his mother to take care of her while she healed, which meant feeding her, and washing her up. She kicked out and bit at him, but soon realized her plan of attack was not working. Shadow Star saw other familiar ponies, all of which she recognized from Ponyville. They were all tame, and they seemed to enjoy the company of these strange creatures. All except..
Rainbow Dash! She pulled at the corral fence with all her might. She flew up, and then got pulled back by the ropes holding her to the corral. "I..will...ESCAPE!!" she yelled.
Shadow star called back to her, "Rainbow Dash! How did you get here?" surprised by the cerulean pegasus in this strange land. Josh tied a bridle around Shadow Star's face and led her to the same corral where the blue pony was now kicking the fence. He's going to put me in there with her? she thought. Josh returned to the house for a late lunch, all the while he kept thinking about the strange mare. How could she just..appear? It didn't make sense, that's for sure. He didn't have much time to ponder, though, before he heard Sam calling out to him. And with that, he ran back to the farmhouse.
