Discord sat in a small bench next to his sweet love. It has been about 70 years since he had been reformed and he kept a healthy look with his immortality. He was amazed that the beautiful pony he loved was now at the end of her days. Fluttershy sat there next to him. She had wrinkles all over her face and around her eyes, but she still had those bright turquoise eyes that sparkled like sapphires. Her hair was white with small light pink hairs scattered around her mane.

Discord looked at the mare with sorrow in his eyes, knowing that she was living her last minute. She saw how he looked and couldn't help but giggle, for she had kept a secret to prank the draconequus with.

"Why are you so worried?" the old mare asked.

Discord stared at her, wondering why she was not the least bit scared, "You are dying!!! I don't want to see my favorite pony go! I've loved you ever since I was reformed and now you will go just like every pony I've seen in my years of stone! I had people who cleaned my stone every week, and I watched ponies of generations come and go without a care, but you are my first friend and love!"

"I'll always love you and even when I'm gone," she stopped to let out a giggle. "I have a surprise for you after I die."

"But I don't want to see you die!" Discord pouted like a little foal. "Why can't it go my way?!"

Fluttershy grabbed his paw. "Can you tell me a story? You know before I....... go?"

Discord couldn't help but try. "Ok...... Once upon a time, there was a lonely beast that had no friends. He didn't know what the magic of friendship could do for him. Then, he found the sweetest of mares. She has a soft buttercream coat, the silkiest of manes, eyes that shone like sapphires, and the kindest of personalities. She was his first friends and eventually melted the beast's stone heart with the magic of love. She was the best thing that ever happened to him. And he will miss her............"

He burst out in tears and grabbed the small pegasus in the tightest hug. But then something happened. He felt a small heat against his long body. He opened his eyes and to his surprise he not see Fluttershy. Instead he found a pile of ashes against his chest.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" he screamed as he held the ashes against his chest. "I killed her!!!!"

He could have sworn he heard a giggle. A giggle he hasn't heard in decades. Discord turned his head to see his beautiful Fluttershy. She was her young self again, but she was different in a way. He saw her fly in the air wing a burst of energy. He noticed her wings were on fire. Discord reached out his paw to touch them, but it didn't burn him.

"Was this the surprise?" he asked, still in amazement.

"Of course this was!" she covered her mouth for a second. She was surprised to hear her small quiet voice.

"But h-how?" Discord was in awe go this miracle.

"Well," she started. "I knew this when I first went to the doctor's office to do X-ray tests of me. They were surprised to find a Phoenix feather. It appears that I ingested a feather from Celestia's pet Phoenix, Philomena. I must've dropped it in one of my salads, but now I have a fire burning in my heart that can keep me alive and I become reborn!! Isn't that cool!!!"

Discord couldn't believe it!!! His love is immortal like him!! He picked her up and swung her around with him.

"Fluttershy you've made me so happy I could kiss you!!!" Fluttershy pulled him close as they shared a nice long kiss. Never has Discord felt happier in his life than this moment of relief and joy. He picked her up as he flew to his castle.

She went off his back to finally fly again after all those decades of wing cramps. She loved the feeling of the wind in her mane. Discord flew close to her as they flew, circling each other in loops.

After the hour of flying, they went to Discord's castle that had been the Castle of the Two Pony Sisters. It was redecorated purple with pink polka dots and had a more unbalanced look. They stepped into the castle for Fluttershy to see a giant portrait of her and Discord at one of their picnics. She was touched to see that he remembered that picnic where he gave her one of her first fire rubies.

"You seemed tired from all that flying," Fluttershy yawned at that statement. "Come and sleep in my bed with me."

They both snuggled up in bed and said their good nights when Discord decided to ask an important question.

"Fluttershy?" he slightly tapped her shoulder to wake her up.

"Yes Discord." She slightly rubbed her eyes.

He stepped out of bed and knelt on one knee. He held out a necklace with a ring attached to it with a small fire ruby. "Now that I know that you're immortal, I want to spend my whole life with you, so will you marry me, Fluttershy?"

Fluttershy put her hooves over her mouth as she nodded with tears in her sleepy eyes, nodded, and bounced off the bed to hug him. They kissed and went back into bed to plan their wedding in the morning.

Discord looked over his new fiancé. How could he have gained such a mare to hold and cherish? He looked over his life when he saw Fluttershy for the first time. He was full of hatred and at first saw her as nothing special, but when he got reformed by her, he saw that Fluttershy had inter and outer beauty that towered over everypony he knew. He should just call off the wedding. He doesn't deserve her, but then she nuzzled up to him. She chose him and wants to hold and cherish him as much as he does her. So does love really have to die?

Author's Note

I saw this aspect of Fluttershy ingesting a feather in another story, so this is probably the smartest way to keep Fluttershy alive. I just wanted to write this because of all the stories where Discord and/or Fluttershy die.
