Chapters It seems that no matter how hard I try, waking up with an alarm clock is just not my thing. The time was well passed 7:45, and school began at 8:20. I quickly sprung out of bed, and ran to the shower. I guess I'll have to settle for cold water this time. I slapped the white shampoo on my pitch black hair. It cooled my scalp as I ran my body down with cold water. I scrubbed soap against my body, and stepped out. As I dried myself with a towel, I picked up my Iphone, and punched in the pass code. 7-8-9-0.
I scrolled through my contacts and found Rainbow Dash in the smack middle. I tapped her name, and began to type a text message:
Im gonna be late, save a spot 4 me, n tell coach to start the match without me
I pressed send, and set it down. A couple seconds later RD replied. I picked it back up again and saw:
lol, so typical of u =P, yeah whtever ill save u a spot
I shook my head and put some clothe on. I didn't have much clean, so I went with my sky-blue Aguero jersey (look him up). I slipped on a some jeans, and put on a belt. While most sportsy guys have the typical beefy body, I had a lean, muscular one, tanned. No, I'm NOT a douche, and tanned it on purpose. It was natural for living 7 years in Portugal, playing for the Benfica (a team) youth squad. I was about to get a contract for the first team, but my mom shipped me to America for decent education. So there went my dream of being a soccer player (I'll call it soccer for you Americans). I brushed my teeth, and made my way to the door. While I normally ditch breakfast, this time I brought along a Gatorade. I don't know why, I just felt the need to.
I was 16, and I passed my driving test as soon as possible. I decided today would be the perfect time for a first time ride. Besides, I'm in the middle of an emergency. Normally, I call mom who lives in Portugal with her family and my dad, but today I decided to wing it. I mean, what could they do, all the way in Lisbon? I take out the keys, and open the cherry-red Ford Focus. The scent wafting from the insides actually smells fine. I would expect it to smell a little bad, but no, it's all fine.
The car ride was less than 5 minutes to school, so I got there barely on time. I parked my car in an empty spot. I began walking to class when my phone started to buzz. RD sent a text:
CMON WERE ALREADY TWO MEN DOWN ON THE SQUAD! GET UR ARSE HER, BEFORE I COME AND KICK IT THERE!

I popped some Beats in my ear, and put some music on. I shoved past the crowd that began to form around the hallways, and ran to the locker room. At this time, most guys who don't take a shower in the morning do it now. So that means I have the room to myself. I slip of the shirt, and apply deodorant. That's when someone walks in.
"I told him I would kick his ass if he didn't come here!"
The steam from the shower sneaks the stall. It was nearly impossible to see anyone. I pushed the though aside, until someone bumped into me. It was no doubt a RD. Who else has rainbow colored hair? I could see her blush from this distance, which wasn't more than a couple inches. I broke the silence.
"You do know that girls can't come in the boys loc-"
"Yeah, I get, coach sent me here." She said, putting her finger on my lips, and cutting me off.
"Uh, ok." I mumbled unintelligibly.
"I'm just gonna tell coach your coming," After a pause, she smiled and spoke."You look nice."
Now I didn't know if she was referencing to my shirtless self, or just me. She left before I could ask her. I shook the though out of my head. She is the biggest tomboy I'll ever know. She would never say something like that.
I slipped on my shirt and made my way out to the field.
If your are in the Canterlot High Soccer Team, then you get a free pass from regular gym. You just have to sprint, lift, and scrimmage a hundred times more. I met RD out next to the penalty box, not thinking of what she said.
"Well now that our friend is here," he said glaring at me "We can finally start the pre- season friendly."
The other team looked didn't look like competition. We play a 4-3-1-2 formation, with me and RD the two strikers. We set ourselves up, and kicked off.
"Hey RD," I called "Don't get cocky!"
She rolled her eyes, and focused on the opponent at hand. They focused a wing attack, leaving the middle for a cross in. When the ball got to me, I ran through the pitch, and would pass it in to RD for the finish. It worked for the first half. But come second half, the Bulls figured out the tactic. They played a possession game, and launching it up the field when necessary.
RD was on the ball, and about to pass, when a player tackled her from the behind. He got a red card, but we ended up with a injury card. It looked pretty bad, so I rushed there to check it out. It was bad, her whole leg was bleeding, and for once was crying. Yep, RD was, crying. I don't know what was on that boys cleats, but it hurt her pretty bad.
"I'll get her coach." I say as I pick her up.
"No," he said gruffly "Take the freekick, we don't need another sending off, for time wasting. Then you could help your girlfriend."
I rolled my eyes. I hated people who think she is my girlfriend. I had enough Rarity talk for a life time. We are just friends. Besides, I know she has a crush on Wave Chill. I ran up to the ball and set it.Taking a few steps back, I saw the wall began to crumple. The people who had made it up were squirming. I ran up towards it and struck. The ball glided over the broken wall and hit the back of the net. I scored. But that wasn't my main issue. It was that RD was hurt.
She leans against me, and was to hurt to even walk. So picked her up in the air, and she put her around me to fasten herself. I didn't put much on it, as I carried her to the nurses office.
"Nice goal." she said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, I know, now can you stop squirming?"
"OK, whatever"
The nurses office was empty, so I set her on the bed. Her bloody leg last.
"Um, RD, I got to leave. So just wait for the nurse." I said.
"Yeah, sure." She gave me a kiss on the cheeks, and whispered thank you. Then she rested her head on the pillow. I still never understood why she gave me that kiss. We're just friends, right? I know shes good looking, but we silently agreed to not get like that. Must be hormones, I concluded. I was just to blunt to face the truth.
A week and three days. That is how long it took for RD's leg to heal. Or at least stop the wounds. Man, we were just lucky we didn't start the season yet. Ever since she got injured, she has been seeing this guy non stop. Wave Chill, captain of the hockey team. He is like me, chill. The only word to describe him.
And I'm NOT jealous. I'm NOT! I like RD like a sister, and the only way I'll ever get mad at Wave Chill, is if he hurts her. Then shits gonna go down. So far no harm done. They're just kissing near the lockers, and before classes. It in a way is starting to tick me off, because RD and my locker are right next to each other. If shes there, hes there.
Me and Wave Chill aren't the best friends, but were good. Well, I think he is starting to hate me. Not only for the time I spend with RD, but his ex. Actually, I don't spend time with her, Rarity just talks about me a lot.
Couple minutes after RD and WC's latest session, she quickly turns to me.
"What's up bro?"
"Nah, not much"
"You sure? Yeh seem sad."
"No, I'm not."
"Yeah, you are! Dude, we've been friends for like, what, 8 years? I know you bro. Your sad, what happened? Did you ask Rarity out, and she turned you down?"
"Nah, it's kinda the opposite. I'm actually quite bummed on how Manchester City lost to Arsenal in the finals. 4-2, can you believe it? 4-2!" I lied. She gave me a look. I tried my best to ignore it.
"Well of to lunch, yeah know!" I shout.
"Yeah, I got yeh!"
I shook my head and made my way to the cafeteria. Coach put me on a strict diet. Meat, and vegetables. Nothing else. I need as much bulk for this season. I grab meatloaf, Dr.Pepper, and vegetable stew. I look for a table, with RD, Rarity, Blitzwing, and Spitfire.
"Hey can I sit here?" I inquire to RD.
"Yeah, sure, why the fuck not?"
Blitzwing, is out team goalkeeper, and all the stereotypes that goes with it. Big, bulky, commanding. But he is cool. Spitfire is like on the basketball team, I don't know her much. Her fiery red hair covers her eyes. Rarity is just about the only one who doesn't do anything with sport ("Chipping the ball won't chip my nails would it? Oh dear."). She is the first to speak.
"Well, Darling. I for one think that you would fit right into my new line of cloth would fit perfectly on you. Don't you think?"
"Huh, yeah, I guess."
"Dude leave him alone. He has enough Spitfire staring at him." RD defended me, smirking at Spitfire.
Before Rarity could blush, and complain that she is NOT a dude, and she does NOT like me, Spitfire breaks out.
"What the hell, RD?! A first grade crush doesn't go all the way to high-school! Besides, we ALL know you like him!"
"CAN'T WE JUST TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE?, LIKE THE NEW TRANSFER WINDOW, OR SOMETHING" I plead.
"I learn more at this table, than I learned in all my life." Blitzwing added.
"Dude, I do NOT like him. I'm dating WC!"
"Whoopty- fuckin- do. Everyone knows you like him, no matter how blunt WC is. I've dated him before."
"Who hasn't?!" Rarity screams.
"Well, this escalated quickly" I add.
I make my way to leave the table, before RD and SF get in a full fistfight. I dumped my trash, in the well, trash, and left. It isn't long before RD catches up.
"Wait up! C'mon Soarin! You didn't actually believe what SF said."
I turn around, and at full momentum, she crashes into my arms. Baffled, I reply.
"I wouldn't say it surprises me. Dash, we have been friend-zoned for like 4 years now, I think your trying to get somewhere."
She blushes, and gave a quick no.
"If you like me RD, you can tell me, because I do too!" The words slipped out faster than anything. I didn't even know myself. What did I just say.
"Wait, what?" she whispers.
"Uuuh I di-"
She wraps her arm around me, kissing me (NO DETAILS). I was even more shocked as I kissed back. She ran her finger through my hair. I put my hands around her waist. What am I doing? I smell her lemon breath, which drifts me off even more. It seemed like eternity till I let go. RD, just gasped, and ran down the hall. Dafuq just happened?
I needed Rapidfire to talk to. And I need to find RD, tell her this was misunderstanding. Have it the way it was before.

RD POV
I can't believe what I did! I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. Yes, I know Rainbow Dash, the biggest tomboy let a tear flow. But does he REALLY like me, and how will WaveChill handle this? Does he know that I've been using him to get to Soarin. I just love Soarin, no one else. His green eyes, his tan skin, and black hair. He is so cute. I can't believe I'M saying this. It's so complicated. If he likes me, then why hasn't he responded to my moves? Oooh, I just wish I had Fluttershy to help me in this sit.
She would know what to do. Speaking of company, someone suddenly opens that door. And it is not Fluttershy. It's SF.
"Dude, c'mon out. Soarin is looking for you. He needs to tell you that it was a misunderstanding, and he didn't wanna do it."she speaks.
"So he doesn't like me, I knew he wanted better."
"No RD he said he loves you like a sister."
"No, SF, he just doesn't like me."
" RD! He said if he liked a girl, she would be athletic, cool, and chill! How are you not that?! Maybe he just doesn't think-
"IT'S NOT TIME! WE'VE BEEN HANGING OUT FOR LIKE 8 YEARS NOW, AND IT'S NOT TIME!?"
"RD, if your perfect for him, no exaggeration, if it isn't about time, then he is probably shy. Give him space."
And with that she left me.
Stuff like the stuff that just happened, doesn't happen very often. I've been on secret guard for RD. Word got out that I like her, and now everyone is out for her blood. Including WC. I smacked the boxing bag with full force. Smack, hit, punch, kick. It was the only way to get these feelings out of my head. I kept kicking, with coach yelling at me.
"C'MON KEEP IT UP! GET TO A HUNDRED!"
"98...99...100."
I slipped of my boxing gloves, and put on a shirt. I've been doing these training sessions with coach since I moved here. And I've been working even more hard. I better be in shape, because fighting WC, won't be a easy task. He is a head taller than you'll ever be, and can punch like a WWE professional.
It was about 5:30, and I felt I should be getting home. Saturday night Champions League soccer was on tonight. Arsenal at Real Madrid. It simply could not be missed.
I took my car keys, and made my way out of the gym. The rain crashed down like rapid gunfire, hitting me square in the head. My stomach grumbled in rebellion. I hadn't eaten anything for a good 24 hours.
I made my intention to go straight to Sugarcube corner, or as I like to call it Sugar3 Corner. Maybe a nice soup, or sandwich would do. Then maybe I can get something for RD. Like an apology for the scene sometime ago.
I pulled up my car in the parking lot, slipped out my ear buds. Once you open the door, its like an imaginary wall of scent you walk through. Pinkie Pie was the first to greet me. Her spongy, pink hair looked vibrant as ever.
"WELL HELLO THERE!! WADDYA NEED? A COOKIE?! OH SORRY WERE FRESH OUT!" she pounced. I was glad no one else was here. No one except RD.
"Uh yeah, sure, I'd like a cheese burger." I don't know if they even have that, but I needed something to get PP away from me. I needed to talk to RD. She sat on the far corner, sipping on Dr. Pepper. I sneaked behind her, and shook her to scare her. She acted like she was expecting me, because she just made a simple 'sup' gesture.
"Damn you, Soarin." She spook gloomily as ever, not calling me by my nickname. I felt like a loser.
"Hey. You look sad." I observed. She seemed to crack a smile as she lifted her hood.
"Of course, idiot."
I tried to have a normal conversation, avoiding the event. But she was making it hard. I swear the words just wanted to spill out of my mouth. Something was holding me back. Something.
"Did you see that game yesterday?" She began, as she flipped through her Ipod.
"Yeah, can you believe it? 6-0!? Man, I think Arsene could be better."
"Soarin, I get what you're trying to do, I'm really not an idiot.You're trying to say that you don't like me and you want to be friends again. It's just that now WC broke up with me, you don't want me, who am I stuck with now? I mean as much as I hate love, and shit, I need a BFF.
From her words I have to prove my loyalty to her as a friend.
"Actually...yeah, you got me and I'll always be with you"I said and we didn't talk for a while with her words the silence broke.
"Soarin...I was wondering were you serious other day?You know thing that you like me?"
I stucked by her question what should I say?one of my side wants to say her all truth but my other side wants to forget everything and just be friends with her but I had to decide.
"Yeah I guess...We have been friends for many years and I can't deny that I want to be more than friends with you but for now I'm just confused"I said for the first time I felt heat started to rise to my cheeks.
“Same here Soarin. Right now I am just trying to clear my mind. You know how all the girls are like giggling when they see us together. It because everyone is saying that we are meant for eachother. That is why I dated WC. To break all the rumors.
I stared to her nervous face she was struggling to saying something
"As weeks went by I realized girls where looking at you like you were open for the taking. So thats when my love side won out, I couldn’t let a guy like you go. So I notched up my relationship with WC, just to get you jealous. But you were too stupid to get it. I had to break up with him, and make the first move.”
I tried to say something to comfort her. She looked like a train just hit her. I can’t blame her either. She is probably being made fun of. Spat at. And worst of all, beat up.
Then it hit me. She has been beat up!
“Uh Rainbow? Could you show me your stomach for a second?” I inquired.
“Wait why?”
“Just do it!”
“Ok! Ok!” She slowly lifted her jersey to reveal a tan, but bruised skin.
“Did he do this to you?!” I interrogated.
"N-No I just fell down to ground badly"she said from her voice I understood she was trying to hide something from me.
"Don't lie to me Dash!I saw how he angry was when you were running out from cafeteria!"
"Well...yeah he hit me but you don't have to worry It's fine and it was my fault I was the one tricked him".
“But he HIT you. I don’t care what you say right now! He HURT you!And I'm gonna show who is the boss!” I was steaming mad now.
I stormed out of the restaurant, going back to the gym. Where WC would be and If I find him I was going to give him a lesson about Rainbow Dash.
Oh, shit was gonna get tight! How could W.C. hurt R.D.? R.D. was pleading for me to stop, but I was intent.
"Soarin! Please stop! You don't have to do that! Seriously!" she cried.
"I don't have to do that?! Dash how can you still defend him? Besides, if he doesn’t learn his lesson now, he’ll go beat up some other girl! This huge bour needs to learn how to act in front of a girl!". I said tightening my fist.
"Soarin..." she said with a worried face.
Then we sat couches of the car. I started the engine. We didn't talk so much while we were going, so I played Face Down by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. While it did fill in the silence, it made it more awkward. I mean seriously, read the lyrics yourself.
I pressed on the accelerator. I looked at her.There was a still worried expression on her face.She was watching outside. The Champions League final had already begun (it is like the superbowl in Europe) so people had gathered around squares and bars to watch it. You could tell how the match was going by the roller coaster of emotion.
“Soarin, I’m telling you. If you love me you would listen. It doesn’t matter. Just don’t do it.”
I knew everything isn't gonna be fine.She turned her face to me and gave me a small smile.I felt guilty.The thing I afraid most was hurting of her again.
“I am sorry, I won’t hurt him too bad.”
A few minutes later we stopped in front of the gym and walked to the place that I was training.I was stomping the ground,my anger started to get higher..
I took a deep breath to calm down, but I couldn't. Coach was taking shots on him, while he was saving them.
"Hey Wave Chill!" I shouted loudly to get his attention.
“Oh hey, Soarin, so glad you came. You can help Wave while I eat dinner.” the coach yelled across the gym floor. Then came WC.
He turned his head to me RD (Who was still hiding my back).
"Oh, hey Soarin! What's the problem?" he inquired.
I took another deep breath with a determined face
"I'll ask you just one thing W.C.Did you hurt R.D.?" I said pressing my teeth.
"If I hurt R.D. why does it bother you?” he replied, putting on his beats, and wrapping his towel.
"Why does it care me? How could you hurt an innocent and a defenseless girl? Is it something in your book?!"
"Innocent and a defenseless girl?! She had to think it while she was cheating me! If she's that important for you why didn't you protect her before?"
In every minute our anger was getting higher.
"Because I didn’t know you’d go bitch mode, and beat her up! So you have to pay what you did to her!" I said and I tried to punch him.
Then I saw my punch stopped. He stopped me with his hand. I looked around. We had taken everyones' attention. People were whispering and pointing at us.
Suddenly he shouted at me.
"You can’t teach me anything!" and he tried to punch me again. I was ready and deflected it with my wrist, and used my free hand to grab his neck.
He used his leg to trip me, so I used mine to kick him in the gut. We both fell back.
After a second, he charged back at me with full force, and nothing I could do would block it. It hit me square in the jaw. Blood dripped on the wooden gym floor.
“YOU SON OF A BITCH!” I yelled as I tackled him to the ground by headbutting him in the chest Zidane style. I turned around thinking I had won as he was slowly retreating. I started to walk away, when suddenly i heard a cry of pain behind me. RD was on the ground! When my back was turned he was about to thunderkick on the back. And trust me, goalkeepers kick hard. But RD came in the way to take the hit! I felt all worry flowing in my body.
I was gonna kill him! I grabbed his neck and began to choke him, and if the coach hadn’t come in, I would have hospitalized him.
“OK, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE!?!” the coach’s voice boomed around the gymnasium. The people who had come to spectate had left in a hurry.
W.C. spoke first.
"I was training, but suddenly Soarin shouted at me and attacked me. Then RD hit me, so I shoved her off a bit!"
"Shut up! You're lying!"
"Enough! I don't know what happened here but you'll tell me later but first we have to take Rainbow to the Nurse's office." he said and pointed me to take Dash. I leaned
and carefully took her to my arms. Her eyes were still closed. We walked to the Nurse Red Heart's office and we went in. Nurse RedHeart rose her head from the papers.
"Coach,how may I- oh" she said and pointed me to lay R.D. to the bed in front of the window. I laid her and she started to check what's wrong with her and saw her bruised skin.
“Hmm, you’re lucky this time. She has been getting injuries in the same spot a lot now. It’s just a small movement of bones, a slight fracture. A little more force, and I am afraid she would miss the whole season of soccer, with a broken leg. Now I'm gonna put a cast around it just to be safe. Don’t put any pressure on it, and make sure she gets lots of rest. Oh and she will have to miss one game and some P.E.”
We nodded and left. RD wasn’t knocked out, but sleeping. I picked her up in my arms, and began to walk home. But coach stopped me.
"W.C. and Soarin, I don't know what's the problem with you but the thing you did was irresponsible. I know you guys are good students generally, so I am gonna let this go. Next time you will be suspended" he lectured.
"Kay." was all I could muster.
I carried her to my car. I laid her to the back seat of the car. Finally we arrived to my home. I entered to the living room and laid her down on the couch. I covered her with my
Manchester City‘s blanket.
Only half of the Champions League final was over, and advert was going on. Half time result: Paris- Saint German vs Manchester City, City leading 2-1. I was so excited. You have no idea how important this is to me. Manchester City never won a Champions League! We were so close! But I didn’t want to wake RD, who was sleeping, head next to my lap. Wait, it WAS next to my lap. Now her head suddenly moved on my lap. I wasn’t complaining, it was just weird. I thought and looked back to Dash again. RD and I were City fans since we were in preschool. If she knew about this she'd be over the moon.
Her face looked so innocent and gentle that you’d never believe an idiot like WC would hit her. I caressed her hair slowly, ushering her into a deep sleep. I could swear she smiled when I touched her. Her chest rose up and down slowly, she was breathing fast enough for her to be awake.
“Watcha lookin at?” she grinned.
She caught me red handed staring at her chest. My face flushed and I changed the topic.
“Manchester City is winning by one, David Silva and Sergio Aguero both scored, against David Luiz’s goal.”
She giggled, and said
“Yeah, as long as you weren’t staring at my boobs!”
“I was not!” I defended, but the more I denied, the redder my face became.
“Uh huh, sure. Well, I’m gonna change into my Man. City gear and jersey.” she limped away and winked at me.
I shook my head and went back to the match. I realised I accidently left my phone back in my room so I went to get it. I opened the door, and then it was too late.
I walked in on RD changing, she had nothing on but a jersey and some panties.
“OHMYGODSOARIN! AGAIN?!” she screamed.
“IT’S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!! I WAS GOING TO GET MY PHONE AND-” I tried to defend myself.
“JUST LEAVE!”
I walked back fazed. Now, I am gonna be honest and say RD did look pretty hot, her slender figure, tanned skin, lean legs, and so on. But I couldn’t get that image out of my head.
"You really alright Dash?" I said as she came back. She now had some shorts on and the same jersey.
"Umm...sorta. My stomach hurts” she said. For someone who almost died a couple seconds ago, she seemed pretty untouched.
"Ok, Dash you must be hungry I am gonna make something for us"
"OK" she spoke quietly.
I went to the kitchen and I found some bread, jam and some sausages. I made some sandwiches for us.I got some chips, salsa, sauce and Dr. Pepper. too for the watching the match.
"Hey Dash! Have you ever eaten a sandwich with sausages and jam?” I said with a smirk.
"Sausages and Jam? I like your style Soarin" she said with a giggle.
Throughout the match, RD jumped up and down and squealed in delight. Other times she would bury her head behind me. But the final score was 3-2! We won!
“WE WON! WE WON! WE WON!” we shouted in unison. She hugged me, and I fell back with her on top of me on the couch. I still never figured out how I was thrown all out back with her broken leg.
“Gee, RD. I know it was complicated, but I never knew it would be that soon.” I grinned.
“Shaddup!”
After I bit of hugging and rejoicing we finally fell on the couch, pooped out.
“Uhhh, I am so tired.” she let out a small yawn.
“Me too. Imma go to sleep.” I stretched out, when a sudden thought hit me. Where would she sleep. I couldn’t send her back home at this time in the night.
“Well, where am I sleeping?” she inquired.
“I don’t know RD. My bed is a very privileged place to be in.” I said closing my eyes, and stretching more, while mocking her. By the time I opened my eyes, she was already gone.
I trudged to my bedroom, decorate with jerseys, posters, and flags. One of them was a picture of RD, Spitfire, and me all on a roller coaster. RD was hugging me from fear (which isn’t like her, but this ride was exceptionally scary) while Spitfire was screaming.
“Way ahead of you Soarin!” she grinned, sitting on the bed. I rolled my eyes, took off my jersey and crashed on the bed too.
“Whatcha staring at” imitating her. She was caught staring at my bare abs.
“It’s not what it looks like.” she blushed.
“Mmhmm” I replied. But she shut me out with the last one.
“Shut up boob boy!”
