With Discord's latest plan beaten, the Tree of Harmony and princesses saved, Equestria is once again the peaceful land it was meant to be. But victory came at a high price, the Elements of Harmony, their greatest defense, having been returned to where they came.

As an ancient creature of darkness awakens to a now defenseless Equestria, the newly dubbed Princess Twilight Sparkle will have to face it. But not only will she doubt her own ability without their most powerful weapon, she will question those closest to her. Trust will waver.
