AppleJack's Prank (Short Story, No Chapters!)
“Come on, AJ! Like you have anything better to do!” Rainbow Dash yelled to AppleJack, a country pony whom lived on an apple farm with quite a country accent. “It’s winter, for Celestia’s sake!”
“Rainbow, ah told you gotta stop buggin’ me and leave me alone!” AppleJack simply yelled back at the cyan pegasus. This term of events had been going on for WEEKS, leaving both ponies angry and annoyed with each other.
“Not until you get off this farm for a few hours, and come help me!” Rainbow protested, stamping her hoof in invisible ground wile floating alongside her country friend.
“Help you with what?” AppleJack asked suspiciously, glancing at Rainbow with an oh-really look.
“With...with-oh, I’ll tell you later! Now come on!” Without warning, she grabbed AppleJack’s hoof from the ground and flew up and off with dazzling speed.
“RAINBOW! I’M GOING TO FALL!” AppleJack screamed, her voice sounding like a little filly who had just gotten her teddy bear taken away from her.
“Don’t worry, we’re almost there!” Came a lightning bolt fast pegasus Rainbow's shout as a reply. She sped on determinedly, struggling slightly with all the extra weight.
AppleJack clamped her eyes shut in fear, but within seconds she noticed that she was on the ground again with a loud thunk!, much to her relief. “Thank Equestria that ah didn’t fall out Rainbow's grip…” She let out a sigh and counted to ten to calm herself, but then perked her head up as she remember what caused her such distress. “But really?” She continued, ranting. AppleJack didn't even bother looking back as she crossed her hooves and snorted. “Did you really have to-EIPPE!” AppleJack screamed as a big boom of thunder sounded behind her.
“WHAT WAS THAT?!?!” AppleJack screamed, her pupils looking lost in her big eyes of white, shrunken in fear. Soon enough though, she began to her hysterical laughing from behind her.
“Your…face! It was...hilarious!” Rainbow managed between giggles and snorts as she squirmed on her cloud; rolling in laughter.
“You’re sounding a bunch like Discord, you know that you little brat?” AppleJack rsuddenly snapped, fuming, and immediately Rainbow stopped laughing. How dare AppleJack say THAT to her!
“Hey!-I mean...Seriously? All you can do is insult me? How lame! You should at LEAST be thinking of ways to get revenge!” Rainbow scoffed, putting her hooves up in the air like it was the simplest thing to figure out in the entire universe.
AppleJack snorted. “Fine! I’ll give you one! The best one of all! You’ll be crying like a big baby after my...er...prank!” AppleJack said confidently, having herself an "Ha!" moment.
“Oh, really? I’ll be waiting then! Can’t wait to see what you’ll be able to pull off! Oh wait, actually you won’t be able to actually think of any! Hahahahahahaha!” Rainbow Dash started laughing again, and AppleJack left her, red with rage.
“I'll show you, Rainbow Dash!” the country pony promised as she walked back to her farm.

Two weeks had passed, and AppleJack had planned the perfect prank. Rainbow Dash was finally going to an interview for the Wonder Bolts, and so she used that for the base of her prank, which is what you NEED for a good prank, as Pinkie told her. Basically, Rainbow Dash will be having some PRETTY embarrassing moments.
How? Well it seems that AppleJack will put a small contraption hidden in Rainbow Dash’s dress that she will be wearing at her interview. When she presses activates a certain button, the contraption will make a-a...farting sound! And surely that will be embarrassing!
Snickering at the thought, AppleJack just swung her head. “Ah’m really bettin' that this'll be great! Ah can’t wait to see how this turns out!” She chuckled.
AppleJack headed out the barn door, for that was where she had been planning her "prank". Making sure that nobody saw her, she began to trot over to Carousel Boutique to set the contraption in place.
“Howdy, Rarity! Can Ah come and see Rainbow’s interview dress?” She asked as nonchalantly as she could, hoping Rarity wouldn't be suspicious.
“Of course!” Was her reply, seeming to sound from a certain room upstairs. "Go on, I'll be down in a few minutes!"
"Oh! Ah won't be too long! Just-er-checkin'!" How could AppleJack think Rarity would be suspicious, Rarity loved it when ponies came around to see her latest creations! With the thought, AppleJack felt a bit of weight lift fromher shoulders.
"Okay," she muttered to herself. "Time for step two."
AppleJack walked up to the dress, which was a beautiful, but yet simple and classy navy blue dress, which would cover Rainbow's entire abdomen, shoulders, and tail. "Perfect" AppleJack smiled evilly as she lifted up the back parts of the dress, placed the contraption right where Rainbow's flank would be, ruffled the dress a bit so the contraption wouldn't be seen or felt until it was too late, and then stepped a few paces back.
Everything was in place. All that was needed was patience.

Rainbow was so excited. Just beyond a large, ornate door were some of the crew members of the Wonder Bolts, an elite flying team which were about to start interviewing her any second! Right before the Wonder Bolts opened the door, though, she heard a muffled farting sound.
“What the hay?” The farting sound continued as the famous Spitfire opened the door. Spitfire was tough, and also the captain of the Wonder Bolts, she didn't like messing around, and didn't like those noises, either.
“Woah, what’s going on?” She asked, disgusted by the farting sounds that were coming from Rainbow Dash. Hmm, she thought the flyer would be more...mature now.
“I don’t know! These noises are coming from my-my dress!” Rainbow tried to take of her dress, but fumbled under the stress and peer pressure of Spitfire.
“Uh, yeah, wait a second,” Spitfire closed the door, just gentle enough for it to not count as a complete slam.
Quickly, Rainbow Dash took of the dress, and turned it inside out. Right where AppleJack put it, was the contraption.
Spitfire opened the door. “Ahem, Rainbow Dash, apologies, but it seems like-”
She was cut off by the cyan pegasus. “See? A prank!” She showed them the contraption, putting it inches from
“Ooh, what do we have here?" Fleetfoot, one of the fastest flyers in Equestria, budged in. "Looks like somepony wanted to you to be embarrassed while your...interview here. Can we get it off?” Fleetfoot asked, pointing her hoof towards the contraption.
“Yeah, of course!” Rainbow Dash pulled it right off with a single gesture of her cyan hoof. “Now, uh, where can I put this?” the cyan pegasus asked, looking around, then back up to her hopefully-employers sheepishly.
Spitfire pointed at a nearby thrash can, and within a second, Rainbow was there and back.
“Hmm, impressive,” Fleetfoot observed. “Did you, uh, destroy it on your way there? We don’t want those...noises to be heard out in the Wonder Bolt's hallway.”
“Yep!” She saluted, and put back on her dress in a flash.
“Hmm, good. But, tell me, Rainbow Dash, who would do that, exactly? I mean, if you are a need crew member for the Wonder Bolts, why would somepony have the sense to do something like that for this very uptight interview? A normal well above average flyer should have more respect, concerning what you've done with us.” Spitfire looked at her expectantly.
“Oh, uh, t-this was probably from my friend, AppleJack, ya know, hehe, must’ve done that when she-” Dash stumbled and tried to keep up her cool under the watch of her former idols.
“Your FRIEND, AppleJack? I will repeat myself, Rainbow Dash. Why would she do that to such an important meeting? Would she, if she really thinks that you would qualify as one of us ?” Spitfire asked again, disappointed in the young mare.
“I-It was just a prank, m-ma'am!” Rainbow defended herself, in a tone a little too loud and defiant to be considered polite.
“That’s enough! Back to PonyVille, until we can get this sorted out!” Spitfire ordered, lifting a hoof that led straight to the exit.
“B-But...” Rainbow was shocked. She, Rainbow Dash, was getting r-rejected!
“No buts, young pegasus! Back off, and leave immediately, before we choose somepony else to be the next member of the Wonder Bolts!” Spitfire yelled once again. Rainbow slowly backed down, turned around, and within a second, was out the door, back on her way to PonyVille, letting out a sob on the entire way.
Spitfire shook her head, but Fleetfoot simply looked out where Rainbow once stood.
"She's a great flyer, you know." Fleetfoot muttered to Spitfire. "We might just've needed her."

“So, Rainbow, how did it go?” AppleJack asked, snickering.
“IT”S ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!” Rainbow suddenly roared at AppleJack at the top of her lungs, sobbing. “THEY THOUGHT THAT I WASN’T GOOD, BECAUSE USUALLY AWESOME FLYERS HAVE...HAVE..RESPECT! A-AND YOU...I-I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU!!” She was sobbing like a little filly, just like AppleJack told her she would, but this time it she knew it wasn't right.
But AppleJack kept her ground, even though she knew it was wrong.
“A-AH told ‘cha, you would be cryin’ like a little filly!” AppleJack "Ha!"ed, even though she was unnerved by the scream that was just given to her by the cyan pegasus.
“YOU RUINED MY LIFE, APPLEJACK! ALL I WANTED WAS TO JOIN THE WONDER BOLTS, BUT NOW I CAN’T, B-BECAUSE OF YOU!!!!!!!” Rainbow plopped herself down, trembling. Soon, Big Mac had come out to see whatin the world what happening right outside one of the barns.
“Rainbow! A-Ah didn’t ruin your life! They still will take you in...won’t they? Y-You're the fastest flyer in all of Equestria!” AppleJack didn't believe it, AppleJack, herself, ruining her best friend's life?
Alarming calm in her voice, the rainbow haired pegasus pegasus growled. “You don’t get it, do you? I have practically no chance with the Wonder Bolts now! A-And you don’t even care..you...you...demon!”
The last word hit her hard, like a bullet. ”R-Rainbow, Ah… Ah am so sorry! Ah thought you were just joking! Ah was sure that they would still let you in! Ah-”
“Nevermind it, AJ! Just face it already! You aren’t my friend anymore-not with what you just did, you...you jerk! Just leave me ALONE!” Rainbow Dash flew up and into the distance, leaving the country pony shocked and alone.
“NNNNNope," AppleJack's brother's voice came from behind her. "ya shouldn’t have done that, sis,” Big Macintosh shook his head, obviously disappointed.
Still, with a determined look on her face, AppleJack nodded.
“Ah know," the orange country pony spoke. "that’s why I’m gonna fix this,”

AppleJack stood in front of the Wonder Bolts's main office. The yellow maned pony had recieved a spell that allowed her to walk on clouds from her purple alicorn friend Twilight, so getting there was quite easy.
She opened the door to the office. A young clerk pony with a dull, grey coat looked at her.
“May I help you?” She asked energetically, her voice full with energy. Despite her colors she seemed to have much enthusiasm and passion in speaking her words.
“Ah am here to talk to Spitfire, for ah have come a long way!” she showed the clerk pony her wingless body, hoping the pony might see her situation more urgent and get Spitfire right away. “It’s about Rainbow Dash.”
“Hmm, well, I don’t see your name on here! Are you sure you have an appointment, miss?” She asked politely.
“Ah know ah don’t have an appointment! Ah am here on somethin' urgent ya hear?” AppleJack practically shouted with desperation, and the poor clerk pony stepped back.
“Okay okay! But only because it’s urgent!” The clerk led AppleJack to a large ornate door. The young clerk pony went inside first, then came back out with Spitfire and Fleetfoot, who were there when the "conference" with Dashie happened.
(Soarin was eating pies, duh!)
“Ya’ll the ponies who yelled at my friend the other day?” She asked, straight to the point. Her tone wasn't certainly polite, but the standing Wonder Bolts officer ponies didn't feel like starting an argument about it.
“Are you the pony who pulled that prank on her?” Spitfire retorted right back.
“Yes, Ah am.” AppleJack replied, hoping to sound bold, but not actually proud.
“Hmm, and so are we.” Fleetfoot eyed the country pony somewhat suspiciously.
“Well, A-Ah am just here to say that...you shouldn’t think of her as a bad flyer or anything else cuz that’s not true! It was my mistake to do that ta her.” AppleJack looked down, feeling guilty.
“Ah promised her that ah would prank her, and that after ah did, she would be crying like a foal." AppleJack admitted. "But I never really meant ta do this and make ya’ll ruin all her d-dream 'bout becomin' a Wonder Bolt!” AppleJack continued as big, fat, tears slowly began running down her face.
Spitfire saw this and her heart-whether she like it or not-melted. So did Fleetfoot’s.
“Well, I don’t see why we shouldn’t try to interview her again…” Fleetfoot suggested after a few moments of silence between the three ponies.
Spitfire sighed. “Fine, fine, we’ll...interview her again. Tell her to meet us in an hour, here in this office.” Spitfire awkwardly began to laugh. “Really? Why am I only making it an hour? Course you've gotta tell her somehow, but she’ll take about ten seconds to get here!" Spitfire's face suddenly went serious. "But seriously, tell her to be here at EXACTLY ONE hour, starting now, at 5:11 P.M.! Now!” Spitfire pointed her hoof towards the door, just like she had done earlier that day with Rainbow Dash.
AppleJack saluted. “Yes, ma’am! Thank ya’ll kindly!” AppleJack beamed one last smile and turned around, running past the door and onto the puffy white clouds beyond.

“RAINNNNNNNBOOOOOOOW! WHERE AREEEEEEEE YOU?” AppleJack shouted as she walked through PonyVille, causing ponies to stare at her strangely. “THE WONDER BOLTS WANNA SEE YA AGAIN FOR ANOTHER INTERVIEW!” She screamed, as more ponies began to give her wide eyed looks.
AppleJack ran over to Twilight’s castle in hopes she find the cyan pegasus there. “Twilight! Do ya know where Rainbow is?” She knocked on the door frantically just before Twilight opened her door.
“Yes, I do. And with that, I know you’ve ruined her life by some prank.” Twilight asked indifferently.
“Well, then where is she? The Wonder Bolts wanna meet her in an hour!” AppleJack yelled.
“Oh! In that case, she’s on her napping cloud.” The purple alicorn pointed towards a nearby cloud, -with what they could make out- a huge lump of cyan pegasus sobbing on it.
“Oh! Thanks, Twi! RAAAAAINBOW!” AppleJack turned around without another word and galloped off.
“What do you want?” Rainbow Dash sniffed when AppleJack got to her cloud. (Which took like, only ten seconds flat.)
“Rainbow! The Wonder Bolts want to meet ya at EXACTLY 6:10 tonight!” AppleJack shouted in a huff.
“WAIT WHAT?!?” Rainbow shot up like a firework, hope gleaming on her face.
“A-Ah guess Ah just fixed what Ah broke, and Ah hope you can forgive-” AppleJack was suddenly blown back by the rainbow maned pegasus.
“Oh, thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!” Rainbow
“Thank me for what?” AppleJack asked, confused at Dashie's sudden outburst.
“For...for showing me that you are a truly great friend.” Rainbow said sincerely, smiling one of the warmest smiles the green eyed country pony had ever seen in her life. The speedy pegasus's magenta eyes sparkled like never before-she knew now that she had a chance.
AppleJack face held shock and utter surprise. “Wow, t-thanks.. Rainbow, that’s ‘bout the nicest thing Ah ever heard.” The two ponies hugged each other tightly, then, after a few moments of silence (and cuteness) each let go.
“Now, make sure ya get there at EXACTLY 6:10, 'kay?” AppleJack repeated herself to Rainbow Dash so she wouldn't forget. "Ah don't want cha to mess up this time!"
“Well, yea, DUH! When have you ever known me to not be on time? Actually, don't answer that but-I gotta Dash!” Rainbow "Dashie" Dash zoomed off, and AppleJack, now left alone for the second time, sighed.
This time, everything was turning out to be alright.

“Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!!!” Rainbow screamed later on as she ran into AppleJack, hugging her tightly.
“Woah! Rainbow! What happened?” AppleJack asked, practically knowing the answer due to her best friend's behavior.
“They accepted me, AppleJack! I am going to be starting my pre-show training next week!” Dashie squealed. “All of my dreams to become a Wonder Bolt came true! Because of you!” She cried, lifting her cyan hooves up in the air to cheer.
“What? How?” AppleJack asked yet again. She, AppleJack, was only fixing things, right?
“They told me that if it weren’t for you and your chat with them, seeing how you would go through so much for me, they probably wouldn’t have employed me! Now they think of me as an even better flyer!” Rainbow explained, finally bringing down her hooves from their positions.
“Well, Ah'll be! That’s simply amazin'!” AppleJack remarked, a new, happy smile upon her freckled face, she took off her ol' dusty brown cowpony hat and set it on her chest, excited for her fast flying friend.
“I know right? Hey! We should tell the others! You up for it, AJ?” Rainbow asked in a challenging, bold tone.
AppleJack stuck on her dirt brown hat once again. "You bet Ah am! Let's go!"
Galloping side by side, the two pals ran off towards the evening sunset, off to share the tale.
