It is the seventh year of the joint princess rule, Celestia and Luna have lost control of the dangerous criminal known as 'Nightingale' who has gone to the city of Stalliongrad and masterminded her own army of criminals. An elite mercenary force known as the Shadowbolts at their head. In response, the princesses have authorized the Royal Equestrian Guard to hunt down Nightingale, with the aid of the Wonderbolts. The war has been going on since the fifth year of their joint rule, and the city has since been reduced to little more then empty streets and graffiti, but still the army of the Gale fights on. The Guard have succeeded in gaining a major foothold in the city, but gangs and various crimelords have made it hard for them to fight their true enemy, and if nothing changes this will always be.

Two members, one of the Shadowbolts and one of the Wonderbolts have shared a secret for nearly three months now. One that could very well tear the horrific Nightingale out of power, and leave the citizens of Stalliongrad again in the hands of the Royal Guard. The Captain of the Shadowbolts known as Drakalyte and the well known Rainbowdash of the Wonderbolts, are in love. This itself born out of the fires of the very war they vie against each other in. Nopony knows of their love, and nopony can. For if the Shadowbolts were to lose their captain, there is no certainty that Nightingale would not issue a full strike against what little foothold the forces of the princess hold.

So it has been kept secret, the two of them sharing a small room out of the way of the war, trying to hold onto the most precious thing either of them has ever had: The love of another pony.

"Dashie, you know I can't be here." Drakalyte continuously glances about, nervous beyond nervous at being so exposed with no support. "You know what could happen to us."

"I know." The rainbow maned Pegasus answers, moving closer to the pure black Shadowbolt, "I couldn't stop though, I had to see you. It's been nearly a week now Drak."

"Dash, you and I both-" He starts at a noise, ready to fly should it prove hostile, but relaxes when it isn't, "Know that this is dangerous. We can't be caught together. If any of them suspected..."

"Hush." The rainbow mare kisses the unicorn stallion, effectively silencing him for the next minute at least "I love you, and you love me. That's all that should matter. Nevermind the war, if it makes both of us sad to think about it, we shouldn't. We need to be together, I don't care how, or why, I just want to be."

"Anything for you Dash." The Stallion sighs, "I will do anything for you. You know that we are simply waiting for the Wonderbolts to get off their mighty throne and ask us to fight for them. A few bits and we wouldn't have to hide our love. Have you asked Spitfire about it? I promise that I would be willing to agree to any price. We need to end this war! The things those gangers have been doing..." He trails off, a haunted look on his face, before the pegasi mare nuzzles him.

"She has looked at it, and has been strongly considering it. I'm not sure what she plans to do, but I know that whatever it is, it will work for the both of us. Neither one of us will ever have to worry about hiding our love again, not with both of us so needing of this." She relaxes against him, resting her head against his throat, his head resting on hers in a rare-for him-moment of weakness.

"...Boss said to look for the Rainbow one, and kill anyone with her." The couple starts, glances at each other, then head off in the same direction. Towards the darkened interior of the Shadowbolt Outpost 127, the outpost abandoned by the gangers and Shadows alike for once reason: It was haunted.

"I know what the boss said!" A dark earth pony stallion growls at the pegasi walking with him, "You know we are not supposed to kill any of them Shadowbolts, and I'm sure the one she's always with is one of them!"

"That can't be right, no Shadowbolt is gonna be with a wimpy Wonderbolt." They both pause outside the outpost, "Place gives me the creeps. Can't believe it's haunted, you never actually see anything til you start looking."

"Ya, so let's get out of here. Said she would be in that dark apartment building. You know, The Woodlands?" A nod from the pegasi, and the both of them meander towards the place where Dash and Drak usually reside during their... vacations.

"They better not destroy my apartment. I will kill them and whoever they work for." Drak mutters to himself, Dash just looking relieved at not being caught and killed. The stallion glances down at her, having covered her body with his own to keep them from seeing them in the lighting, "You know, if your that needy, I could always take another vacation..." He teases, the pegasi blushing and pulling away with a mumbled few words.

"Alright, now, let's both get home before we get some strange twist of fate. Like Spitfire coming into the apartment when you were just about to enter the bedroom." He starts chuckling, much to the pegasi's chagrin, "I'm serious! Go on, we don't want another twist of fate."

"The look on her face when she found me at the bottom of the tower." He laughs, falling onto his back at the hilarity of what had occurred. "You know what she was thinking!"

"Ya. 'What. The. Buck. He's naked!' I know." The pegasi grins, shaking her head a bit at the stallion, "Now go on, find your partners in crime and get them taken care of. Hopefully Spitfire is reviewing that note again and I can get her to agree to it."

The stallion kisses her gently, "I love you. Be safe." This ends with the rainbow pegasi flying off and leaving a ponderous stallion to get back home. "Wait..." He pulls a Wonderbolt decal off his suit, then a second one, "Again? What does she think is so funny about trying to-" Of course, a perfect moment for his sergeant to arrive. "This is not what it looks like."
