A Lonely Kingdom on The Moon
Luna's eyes fluttered open, and she blinked a few times before stretching out her long legs and standing. Once she had woken herself up, she walked over to the window, framed in a dark mixture of wood and stone. Her wings stretched as she gazed out on the small kingdom, only a few ponies visible to be trotting around. When she had been on Earth, they had been her royal guard... now they were forced into isolation.
A sad smile crossed the princess's features as she remembered Equestria, her home... Though she quickly shoved the thoughts to the recesses of her mind as she started to remember her sister. Their mother... The fight that she and her sister had. It was the cause of her thousand year banishment. She felt no resentment towards Celestia, in fact-- she missed her dearly. But she just shook her head as tears threatened her vision. It was her own fault, there was no crying over spilled milk.
With a sigh, Luna turned and slowly started towards the door. Her horn glowed blue-purple as she used magic to open the heavy door-which had ornate carvings of different scenes of the moon. Rather beautiful... But Luna had seen it far too much to be bothered by it anymore. Stepping out into the corridor, she walked across the deep blue rug and towards the door that led to where she would eat her morning breakfast.
Glancing out one of the many windows, she put her fore hooves on the sill and gazed out at the stars. In the eternal night, she could stargaze whenever she felt the need. Though she greatly missed the view of the sun and the clouds. Sad eyes watched the ever twinkling stars, and with a deep sigh she watched a shooting star begin it's descent. Closing her eyes, she made a small wish.
"I wish upon the shooting star, that I could be like my sister. Respected and looked upon. I wish I was no longer alone." Luna whisperer, a few tears trickling down her furry muzzle.
The Lunar Princess slid her hooves off the sill and wiped off her cheeks with a hoof. Shaking her head, she admired her long mane. It's gentle sparkling reminded her of her father, which helped her relax slightly. The late King Cosmos, she had many fond memories. She knew that he was with her, in the stars and all around. There was never a day she did not miss her parents, but she had long since accepted that they walked beside her.
Casting a last glance out the window, Luna felt the previous lonely feeling that she had felt for all the years she'd been in the moon castle. Time flew by, yet dragged on simultaneously, her life was lonely. Her only company was herself and the stars. The only word she received from the outside world was a letter from her sister every solstice. Every letter was received with excitement.
So far she had learned that her sister was working hard to raise both the moon and sun. Also, she had taken on an apprentice- Sunset Shimmer. That didn't end well at all... But her sister had since taken on a new pupil. A young pony named Twilight Sparkle. On occasion, she would receive a letter that Twilight had written to Celestia. From what she had learned, Twilight was very studious and serious, with a pet dragon named Spike. The princess longed to meet 'Twilight Sparkle' . But her sentence was not yet over, and she would not meet Twilight for another while.
Shaking her head, Luna continued to walk. Her stomach was informing her that she was hungry, and it would be wise not to anger it. It wasn't uncommon for her to get lost in thought-- she had been up here a long time, and she found that thinking was a pastime. Her horn glowed again, though before she opened the door-- she paused and furrowed her brows. There was something off about it today. Something different. Forcing herself to relax, Luna's horn brightened again and she used magic to push open the door.
