The Children of the Night
"Come on, Run! She's gonna start without us!"
Three small ponies ran through the dark and shadowy garden, exited to get to the elder, Gari's house. As they ran their hoods flew open, revealing their faces and manes to the moonlight. They didn't stop to pull them back up and just kept running, letting the wind flow through their manes.
"What story do you think she'll tell us this time?"
"I don't know Star, maybe the one about the cocky dragon"
"OH!, how about the one about the evil king?"
"oh I've heard that one a hundred times Raven, how about something new?"
"yea but we haven't had a new story in forever"
"Well Dusk, maybe tonight will be-"
She stopped as the house came into view.
"Quick! We can still make it"
They slowed to a stop as they reached the door and knocked.
Knock Knock Knock
Another elder, Tingle answered the door.
"Ah at last, come in. Tonight's story is very special."
The stallion led the three to a room with all twelve elders sitting in a semi circle. Tingle took his place in the circle and waited for Gari to begin. The three wondered why all of the elders were here and what made tonight's story so special. All the elders seemed to be happy but a serious aura filled the room. Gari entered the room with a old-looking leather journal in her hoofs and took her place in front of the three.
"I wrote this very journal myself when I was in my teenage years."
The blew the dust off the cover.
"Now tonight you will be hearing the story of how we came to be. And not like that, no, I mean how we became followers of Princess Luna. How our lives were turned upside down. And why you are here. On this very night. To listen. And learn."
She motioned for the three to come closer. She then levitated the book above so that all could see its contents.
"Tonight, you will hear the story, of The Children of the Night"
