Chapters Helix
Nothing. That’s all I found, when I died. I couldn’t believe it. I had been Christian before it happened, before I got hit by that truck. The one thing I expected to feel was pain. Pain at the truck hitting me, pain at the glass shard in my chest, pain at the fact knew I was about to die. All I felt was happiness. My life was terrible. I was in massive debt, my wife was being dragged down with me, and my kids hated me. I was alone but I knew that my death would bring them relief. My job may have sucked but it had a damn good health plan. I was leaving knowing my family would be set for life, or at least they wouldn’t have to deal with my debt anymore.
About a year or so before it happened, I became a brony! I never thought it would happen! I had so much prejudice against other bronies for years. I hated them so much I didn’t want to even talk to them, like so many others. The day before I “turned” my best friend told me he was a brony and wanted to watch a marathon of ever episode from the 4th generation, the only one he liked for some reason, and I was so dumbfounded he took it as a yes. Not wanting to tell my life long friend I didn’t want to watch, I decided to finally give it a chance.
The next night I watched every episode with him. When I woke up, I knew I had “turned”. I hated them for so long, and all I felt was guilty for yelling at them all the time. I became a huge fan, my favorite pony, Twilight Sparkle. She was an egghead, just like I was. Both of us loved to read and we were both fascinated by magic, even if only one of us could use it. After that first night I wanted nothing more than to be a unicorn in the MLP universe.
After a couple of minutes of my death I saw a blinding white light. I was so happy. I knew there was a god, and I was going to heaven. But something was off. I felt……weird. What was weird is that I actually felt something. I always thought when you died you would feel nothing if you went to heaven, nothing but joy. I, however, was feeling……dizzy, tired, and above all light headed. I was certain I was going to throw up. Thankfully, I didn’t, other wise the next thing probably would have been a lot different.
“Uuuuuugh.”
I couldn’t tell what it was but I defiantly felt different. I got on all fours trying not to puke when I realized, my arms and legs where the same length! Being a biology major in collage, and being alive my entire life, I knew for a fact my legs were longer than my arms. Being blinded by whatever the hell just happened, I just began to see. And what I saw freaked me the hell out. I swear I heard glass shatter. What I saw was two, red……..hooves. Not the every day hoof like you’d see on a ranch, no these were MLP hooves. Panicked, I started to look around. I notice I was in a library but nothing else, not the number of scrolls on the floor, or the fact that I was the inside of a tree. But, when I turned around, I noticed her. I knew for a fact that it wasn’t possible. She was just a cartoon character, there’s no way I could be HERE. Here in Equestria.
“Uh…..hi,” I said. That’s all I could say, my mind was racing trying to process what the hell was going on.
“Hi”
“Twu…Twilight?
“Yes?” she said, rather scared I might add.
After that I was once again embraced by the nothingness. Obviously I passed out, the odd mixture of joy and panic gave a sensory overload, and, in turn, made me faint. While I was out I could still think. The one thing on my mind, How? How am I here? How am I still alive? And, more importantly, how the fucking hell did I end up in her house? I could understand in the middle of town, or even the middle of Canterlot castle. But why here? Here in the one place I actually wanted to end up if I fell into this place. It was unthinkable, yet I was still happy.
One Hour Later
When I awoke, I was in a bed. I thought I was in a cloud, Honestly, I thought I was falling and gonna die again! In my ridiculous panic I shot up, giving my self the worst headache I ever had.
“Oh, you’re awake.”
I knew that voice; it was the voice of my favorite pony.
“Yeah, and I have a splitting headache. Could a get a glass of water?”
Opening my eyes I saw a glass float over to me, but I failed to see Twilight. Thinking she wasn’t around I dove for the glass and just barely grabbed it in my mouth. I chugged it like I just ate a mouthful of Pinkie’s hot sauce covered cupcakes.
“Heh, you sure were thirsty!”
When I heard that I was about twelve feet in the air.
“SPIKE, don’t scare him like that. You nearly gave him a heart attack!” As she said that she came around to the front of the bed and I could see she was pretty angry with the tiny purple dragon.
“Oh come on Twi, I can’t be that scary.”
“He’s right, I was just startled.” I don’t know why I was defending him, but I felt I needed to.
“That’s no excuse for what he did. Spike, go organize the section of books that got thrown around when he teleported in.” Twilight lectured turning her head slightly to point with her horn at the books that littered the floor.
“Fine.” He grumbled in a rather disgruntled tone of voice and marched off twitching his tail behind him.
“So, how are you feeling? I hope he didn’t scare you too badly.” She smiled gently blowing part of her mane out of her eyes.
“No, I'm okay. Thank you though.” I mumbled trying hard not to think of how beautiful she was.
“Hey, I was wondering, how did you know who I was? I’ve never seen you before.” She questioned stepping closer to me.
“That’s a long story, and I'm sure you wouldn’t believe me even if I told you. Even I don’t believe it.” I mumbled the last part to myself.
“Okay, well how did you get here?” she smiled.
“Actually I was hoping you could tell me that. And, if you would be so kind at what species of pony I am?” I asked and she did a face hoof.
“Well you’re a unicorn like me. Duh.”
No way. I looked up and I couldn’t believe it! She was right! Cutting my brown mane on my crown was a horn. I became the pony I wanted to be, a red unicorn stallion with a brown mane. I was slightly more muscular than I would have expected. I didn’t look like the scrawny man once was. When I was human I was about six feet tall and about a one hundred sixty. Now I was about four feet tall. I didn’t know how much I weighed but if I had to guess, I would say about two hundred pounds. If I was like my OC then I also had blue eyes in place of my hazel ones.
I was overjoyed that I was a unicorn, but I couldn’t revel in my victory, I had to figure out how much, exactly, am I like the character I thought up. Moving the blanket and looking at my flank I saw just what I wanted, a golden infinity symbol. This was shaping up to be the best accident that ever happened to me! Then I remembered. I COULDN’T USE MAGIC.
The mane six.......and a couple extra
The next morning I was woken up to eight mares and a dragon staring at me intently. Seeing them right when I woke up scared the crap out of me. I jumped up into the air and felt like I almost wet my pants…that is…if I wore pants in the first place.
“Hey, why are in here and not in the living room. You scared me.”
“You’re the one who sacred our friend.” The voice was none other than the element of loyalty, Rainbow Dash. She hovered an inch over my face with a look of utter disgust. I could tell she didn’t like me.
“How much do you know of me, Rainbow? How much did Twilight tell you all?”
“Well she said ya came from nowhere, said your name was Helix, and that she took ya on as an apprentice. Oh, and she said ya know all of us. How is that possible?” The element of honesty, Applejack interjected this time. Her tone was less stern and more curious.
“Well, she obviously didn’t tell you all she knew about me. My name is helix, as Twilight said. The reason I know you all is that I’m from a different dimension. In that dimension this world is just a story. Used to teach morals to who you’d call fillies.”
“Then how do you know us. You’re a colt. That story was for girls.” Rarity could tell I was hiding something but I was to smart to get outwitted by a dress maker.
“Hey, I had friends who were girls, and if I want to hang out with them Im stuck watching what they want to watch.”
“Hey has a fair point”
At that point I realized how rude I had been I the presence of the princesses. Remembering my manners I bowed my head and apologized.
“I’m very sorry your highnesses. I forgot you were their, but that is no excuse for how I acted. Please forgive me.”
Some of them were astounded by my humility. Others were indifferent, but the element of kindness was just ecstatic.
“Wow, he’s so kind. I didn’t think an otherworlder would have so much curtsy.’ She obviously forgot her timid nature for a second.
“Um… Fluttershy. When did you get so talkative?” After I spoke I instantly regretted my decision. She squeaked so loud everypony went silent.
“Oh god, im sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. If it makes you feel any better, I would gladly help you with your animals as an apology. I love working with animals. It was my job before I came here.” I rambled on and on and hearing about my job seemed make her a bit happier. The words from her friends helped to.
“I would love some help. Sometimes the animals just run amok and I have to use ‘The Stair’.”
“Well when I can walk and use my magic to some extent, the first thing I’ll do is come over to help, if that’s okay with you that is.” Her face made a huge smile with that.
“I would love that; just give me a couple days to prepare.” Right after she finished talking, Pinkie jumped right on to my lap. IT HURT.
“OWWWWWWWWWWWW!’ I yelled
“Pinkie, don’t do that! He must still be sore from crashing into Twilight’s floor!” Applejack lectured.
“Sorry, I just wanted to tell you that im going to throw the biggest bestest welcome party you ever had.” She smiled jumping up and down and up and down and up and down AND UP AND DOWN ON MY CROTCH.
“Well I wouldn’t expect anything less from the greatest party pony.” I said holding my crotch in pain. Hearing my complement she gave a little blush.
“Aww thanks, I didn’t know you knew that much.”
“Yes, how much do you know exactly?” The princess of the night interrupted. The tone of her voice was impatient. I can tell she wanted answers now.
“Okay, since your all here, I will tell you what I know. But, you must know I’ll keep some secrets of my knowledge. Some things could not have happened yet.”
I told them almost everything I knew about their world. I didn’t tell them I was a brony, or what a brony was. I asked a couple of questions of my own and figured out I was about a month or so from the Canterlot wedding. I didn’t tell them anything of what was to come. I did, however, ask for a quill and parchment. When I got it I used my magic to pick them up! I did it subconsciously! I was a little freaked but was ultimately happy. I knew at least something.
“I thought you couldn’t use magic?” The sound of Twilight’s voice was of disbelief.
“I didn’t think I could! I’ve never done this before. In fact im a little freaked out. What do I do?”
“Okay first calm down. Then, once you’ve done that, simply think of what you want each thing to do. If you concentrate, it will happen.” I was surprised to hear Celestia’s voice in my panic. Doing as she said, I started to write a letter to the future twilight.
In the letter I described all I knew about the wedding, who was getting married, the different jobs they would have, and of the changelings. After I had finished the letter, of which none of them had read yet, I folded it carefully and asked for an envelope.
“Whose tha’ letter for?” Applejack asked. By that time it was already in the envelope and sealed it.
“The letter is for twilight. I don’t want it read until I know it is of relevance.”
“What’s it say?”
“Applejack, if I told you two things could happen, completely ruin the future, or you would all become insane.” The tine of my voice couldn’t be more serious. I didn’t want any of them to touch the letter. ESPECIALY the princesses.
“What could be so bad? Besides being insane sounds fun!” The pink mare of laughter had a huge smile. If she wasn’t pinkie pie, I would have thought her idiotic.
“Pinkie you’re already insane. Anyway, this letter holds secrets of the future of Equestria. I didn’t tell you everything I knew because I didn’t want to destroy this paradise.”
“Wait, ya didn’t tell us what could destroy us? Ya put us in danger? Ya lied to us!” The amount of anger on AJ’s face was unfathomable. I could tell her honesty couldn’t take my lies.
“Applejack, I lied a LOT when I was younger. I actually haven’t lied in fifteen years. The only reason I lied was to protect the one place I would rather be than my own home.”
The entire time I spoke, I was looking at the bed sheets. My shame was obvious. Seeing my sullen face, hers softened. She could tell I was speaking from I heart.
“Ah’m sorry pal. Ah didn’t know ya wanted to protect this world. Was yours really tha’ bad?” I could tell she was worried.
“AJ, I would rather not talk about it yet. Maybe when Pinkie’s done with the party, and I have had a couple of lessons to control my magic, then I will think about telling you girls, and spike.”
“Thank you for not calling me a girl.” He had the funniest look of relief.
“Helix, I would like to know why you asked Twilight to teach you magic. I would gladly teach you my self.” Coming from the sun goddess, this was a huge surprise.
“Thank you Celestia, but I would rather Twilight teach me. She was the one who took me in as a roommate, and I trust her with my life. I hope she will help me get accustomed to the traditions around here.” At the time I didn’t realize the blush on twilights face.
“That’s very noble of you. Now, if you will excuse us me and my sister have some royal duties to attend to.”
“Celestia, Luna, I hope you have an amazing day. Thank you for not showing any hostility towards me.”
“You seem like a very trustworthy pony Helix. Good luck with Twilight. She can be a very……. odd at times.”
“Hey!” Twilight tried to interject, but no one paid attention.
“I will be careful Luna. Thank you.” With one last bow of my head, they flashed out to the castle.
“Well, thank you all for coming, but Twilight told me she was going to teach me some magic today.”
“Unfortunately, he’s right girls. Sorry but you will have to go home for now and come back later.”
“Okay Twi. We have work to do too. See you later Helix.
“Bye ladies. Fluttershy I might come help in a couple days. I try to talk to you about it though.”
“Okay Helix. We can talk about it when I come over tomorrow.”
Once they left, I tried to get out of bed. With the help of twilight I was able to stand, and soon after able to walk. It’s a lot easier then you’d think. Even though I never walked on four legs, I found it really easy once I could stand.
“There, now that you can walk, let’s go upstairs to start you training. Once we’ve finished I have a couple of book for you to read while I go out and help Rarity. I promised her to help model a new dress she made.”
“Okay. When I’ve finished the books, if you aren’t back by then, I’ll help Spike with his chores.” ‘Hopefully I can get him to like me more,’ I thought.
“Great. Once you get up there we will start with a couple simple spells. First we’ll master your telekinesis.”
“See you up there twilight. I just got to make my bed first.”
“Don’t take to long.” And with that she teleported away.
I quickly ran my ‘hooves’ over the bed spread and straightened it out. After I walked up the stairs and opened the door with a slight nudge. Thankfully the doors in Equestria don’t have doorknobs that keep the doors closed.
“Okay, let’s get started.” I was never as excited as I was in that moment. I was about to learn about the one thing I longed to do since I became a brony.
The lesson was rather easy. My telekinesis was easy to master. All I had to do was concentrate on certain thing to move them. Next, I learned haw to make a simple force field. Then a beam of energy. When I started, I finally noticed the aura I create was a brilliant crimson. The only thing is I had to hold back a bit. The power I felt was a little….. overwhelming. I didn’t want to hurt Twilight, or Spike who happened to be in the room. I hadn’t found anything that could be harmful yet, so I didn’t tell Twilight.
Once we finished our lesson. Twilight let to help Rarity while I was left to read The Guide to Magical Theory Vol. 1. Which was about two inches thick and rather big. Thankfully I didn’t have to read all of it, just the first two chapters. I finished in a half an hour and spent the next half helping twilight’s little brother, Spike. We had a nice conversation about rock candy. He found crystals ponies could eat fascinating.
Twilight came home looking rather bored, so I decided to try and cheer her up. My plan was to have us go to Sugarcube corner. By that time I was sure Pinkie had a welcome party set up. Twilight however just wanted to read. Letting her do what she wanted, I told her I was going to take a walk around town. She didn’t care and told me so.
The town was bigger than expected. I visited the different shops, and got acquainted with different ponies around town. I eventually found my way over to Sweet Apple Acres. The path from the entrance to the farm itself was beautiful. The trees were covered in apples, like always. About halfway to the farm, I was interrupted by a high pitched voice.
“Hey there mister, Ah’ve never seen you before.”
A cute little yellow filly was standing a behind me. The red bow in her hair told me it was Applebloom. Knowing that she didn’t know me I acted dumb. I didn’t want another pony being scared on my part.
“Hey there little filly. I’m Helix. I was just looking for Applejack. Who would you be?”
“Ah’m Applebloom sir. What do you want with mah sister?” She was a little apprehensive. She probably thought I was just a weird stalker or something.
We got to the club house pretty quickly. We had to walk through a weird path to get to the club house though. The path had tons of low lying branches I had to move with my magic. It gave me plenty of time to practice though. After a while I got bored of using my telekinesis, so I just used my force field spell.
Once at the club house, we met with two of her friends. A snow white unicorn filly named Sweetie bell, and an orange pegasus filly named Scootaloo. They both were exactly the same as the show. I didn’t know what crazy thing the would try today, but I knew it was something dangerous.
Before either could say anything, Applebloom introduced me. “Hey every pony, this ‘ere’s Helix. He was bored so I asked him to come along.”
“If you say so AB. But I don’t want him getting in the way of our crusading.” The way Scootaloo said this in front of me was with the same exact skepticism as her ‘sister’ Rainbow Dash.
“You, little one, are acting exactly like Rainbow Dash. You aren’t giving me a chance to help. If I had time to study your personalities, I could probably tell you what you talents are.”
“Really, you could tell us what our marks are going to be? What we’re doing now just hurts.” Sweetie’s smile was huge. I could tell she wanted nothing more but her mark. I had to tell them I couldn’t guarantee them their future cutie marks.
“Girls, I might be able to tell you. I would have to know a lot more about you before I could make an accurate guess. Even then I wouldn’t be 100% sure if what it is. I don’t even know your names.” Of course I was lying, but I couldn’t tell them what I knew. They’d think I was crazy.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Helix, this is Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo. They are my best friends. Us three and my cousin, Babs Seed, are the….” I could tell where this was going.
“CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!” Having them all yell so loud next to me left a ringing in my ears. I didn’t think they were so loud.
The white filly came forward fist, eager to get to know who her new friend had brought to their meeting. “Hello sir. Just call just call me Sweetie, I like it a bit more than my full name. I am the little sister to the owner of Carousel Boutique.”
“You mean Rarity? Yeah I met her; she was a little distrustful for some reason.”
“Well, what did you do? She doesn’t do that unless she has a good reason.” Well, she would know how Rarity feels toward new ponies.
“Well, I passed out in Twilights house after being teleported there somehow.” I couldn’t lie to those kids, I like them to much.
They all had an astonished looks, except for Scootaloo.
“Scaring the crap out of Twilight, nice.” I appreciated the sentiment, but I couldn’t tolerate Scootaloo’s choice of words.
“Scootaloo, thank you for the complement, but I would rather you not use that kind of language. I won’t care when you’re older, but right now I don’t think Rainbow Dash would be proud.” I pulled the RD card for good measure.
“What, Rainbow wouldn’t care, would she?” Scootaloo couldn’t tell whether to be worried, or to just not believe me.
“From what I know from talking with her, she would defiantly care.” This time I was dead serious. “But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be yourself. If you do let one slip, I will forgive you. She would too.”
“Really?” I couldn’t stand the puppy dog eyes she was giving me. Since this was so powerful from Scootaloo, I didn’t want to see it from Fluttershy.
“Of course. She may seem like a really distant pony, but if you just talk to her you would realize she cares deeply for every one of her friends. You will be too.”
“Thank you Helix, I will speak better from now on. Please don’t tell Rainbow.”
“Okay, I won’t tell her. I Pinkie promise. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” I finished the promise using the gestures.
“Thank you. So crusaders what are we doing today. I suggest spelunking.” Scootaloo forgot about that pretty quickly.
“I think we should try sword fighting.” Sweetie might have been a little psychotic back then.
“Nah, we should go for gambling.” Apple bloom was just a little naïve.
I had to save them. They were defiantly going to get hurt.
“Girls, none of that is a good idea. I can guarantee those aren’t going to be your cutie marks.”
“How would you know? You don’t know the future.” Scootaloo looked at me with utter contempt. Why do some ponies just don’t like me.
“Look, im going to be honest. I know some of the future. Neither of you will get your cutie marks in those activities. Trying to do those at your age is just a little stupid. You could get really hurt, or worse! If you think about it, the cutie marks of all your friends are things they either stumbled upon randomly, or something they loved to do before they got it.”
“Wow, we didn’t know you cared. And you can see the future! That’s amazing!” Sweetie never thought about it that way.
“Thank ya helix. Ah won’t suggest anything stupid again. Right girls?”
“Yeah!” The other two agreed at the same time.
I saw the sky start to turn orange and decided it was probably time to go back to the library. I thought Twilight was freaking out. Also, I was getting hungry.
“Sorry girls I got to go. I need to make sure twilights not worrying me about me.”
“Okay, see you later Helix.” Again they all spoke at once. It was getting really annoying.
By the time I got back to the library, the sun started to set. I was surprised by how big Ponyvill is. Thankfully, Twi was deep in reading and spike was organizing a big shelf. Unfortunately, right as I walked in my stomach rumble really loud. I made both of them turn to me.
“Oh, you’re back, and apparently hungry. Don’t worry, Spike made you some daisy sandwiches for when you got home. They’re in the kitchen.” Twilight said turning around with a quill in the corner of her mouth.
“Thanks! Im starving.” I quickly trotted into the kitchen and picked up the plate of food with my magic. I then turned and headed back to the living room, “So, are you feeling better Twi?”
“Yeah, I just needed some time to relax.” She sighed turning back to reading and finishing her notes.
I sat down and took a bite of the first sandwich. It was amazing! Yeah, it had a leafy taste to it, but it was so good. The little amount of honey the flowers produced was divine. Once I was done gulping down the rest of the sandwich, I was over come with depression.
“What’s wrong Helix, is that not what you wanted?” She asked sounded concerned.
“Kinda. I um... never really ate...green a lot before in my world." I mumbled thinking of a big juicy steak with a yummy cheese burger.
“What, exactly, did you eat in your world?” She asked raising an eyebrow. I figured that moment would come, and I was loathing it.
“In my world every one is a human. I don’t know if you have any myths about us, but we're omnivores.” She had a face of misunderstanding so I had to tell her what exactly that entailed. “We eat meat and vegetables. Some go for only meat, others only for vegetables, but almost all of us ate meat. I wish I didn’t like it so much.”
“Helix... YOU ATE MEAT! That’s a serious felony in this universe! No pony eats meat without major consequences! Most get put to death for crimes against nature!”
“Twi, in my world it’s not a crime. In fact, its openly encouraged from some groups. Our bodies were made to eat both types of food. Ponies, on the other hand, aren’t supposed to eat meat. I hope you aren’t to mad at my race, we tried only to kill those who were unintelligent. Here, though, they are.”
“Well, what animals did you eat exactly?” She sounded like a mixture of curiosity and distraught.
“Well we ate cows, chicken, fish, pigs, turkey, lamb, and plenty more I don’t know about.” I finally looked up since the conversation started and she looked like she was going to throw up.
“Twi, I didn’t want to tell you, but I had to let you know sooner or later.” I tried to comfort her while I started to eat the last sandwich.
“It’s okay helix, I didn’t expect your world to be so…..”
“Vulgar?” I finished her sentence for her.
“Yeah. I don’t want to be mean, but your world is just so evil sounding. I don’t think I would like it there.” I finished the sandwich as she said this. (Nothing important, I just thought it was worth noting.)
“My world’s not evil. It may seem different, and it may be we weren’t the best of races, but we only did what nature made us to do. If you think about it, even bears do what we do. You may not see it happen, but I assure you that bears defiantly eat meat. Its just part of nature.”
“But, bears don’t need to eat meat. They can eat berries and nuts.” Pleading, she tried to refuse my argument,
“True, they can eat just berries. If they did, though, they would be unhealthy. They would probably die when they hibernate due to malnutrition. They have to eat meat to survive, I did to. I’m sorry Twi. I can’t change what I’ve done, but I can’t eat meat now even if I wanted.”
“Well, I guess you’re right. I can’t change nature. And if what you say is true, it was your nature. I guess I can forgive you. Just, don’t eat any meat here okay.”
Feeling a little bit better I replied, “Thank you Twilight. I’m going to go to bed.”
“Okay, I’ll take some time to work on a report to the princess. In the morning we’ll work on some more advanced spell. They have to be charged, so get plenty of rest.”
“Okay, good night.” I said as I walked toward my room
“Night.”
That night I had a dream about my life before. I was weird. I saw my funeral. My wife and kids were weeping; my co-workers were looking solemn, and I was lying stiff in a coffin. I was looking from a spirits standpoint, floating above everyone. I couldn’t believe what I saw, a huge ceremony celebrating my life. I knew I would have one, but I didn’t expect it to be this big.
As the ceremony started with a priest saying verses from the bible, I felt as if I was being watched. I turned to my left and saw a pony. He was floating there like I was, just standing on thin air. I had never seen him before in the show. What surprised me the most was the fact that he was an alicorn stallion! If I had to guess, I would say he was a bit bigger than Celestia. He was looking up and down my new body. His face showed a look of utter confusion.
His coat was a slightly dark shade of gray and he had silver eyes. His mane and tail flowed like Celestia's, and had the little stars in it like Luna's. Both his mane and tail were tri-colored. They were black at the core, gray in the middle, and had a white trim. His wings were flared and I could see that under his wings were the same as his mane and tail. The thing that looked weird to me, besides the fact he was another alicorn, was his cutie mark, a pair of old scales on top of a yin-yang symbol. Right after seeing his cutie mark, I saw that he had a scar going over the left eye, his right. Looking directly up, I saw that he was wearing a crown too. It was black on the half with the scar, white on the other half, and had three gray gems on the top. He wore a whit necklace with more gray gems and black shoes with more gems.
"Hello Helix." How does he know my name? I've never seen him before. How did he get into my dream?
"Who....who are you? I've never seen you before." I said with a rather shaky voice.
"I am here to show you what happened after you died. This is your funeral. In fact, its happening right now. you might want to watch." He said with a blank look on his face. The stoic look he gave me while waving his hoof toward the scene before us frightened me.
I turned back to my own funeral and saw something I never thought I would see, my own son crying over his fathers death. The way he talked to me when I was alive made it seem like he would be laughing when I died. His resentment for me seemed never ending, but here he was, crying. The mere sight of it made me start to cry. I wanted to hold him and say that I was okay, but I couldn't. All of my family, everyone of my friends, was their crying like they just had a piece of them ripped out and stomped on.
I turned back to the mysterious stallion, but he was gone. A note, however, was left in his place. It said, I will come to you when I have need of you. until then -M. Who's M? Oh well, it doesn't matter. I'll see him again apparently, so I can ask him then. I dropped the note and saw something else written on the back. I can't believe you're the one she's been having dreams about. I had just enough time to get a confused look on my face before I awoke with a start, the sun filtering through blinds.
My breakfast was extremely quick. It was a simple bowl of oat meal with apples. Spike had some gems, and Twilight had an apple. Surprisingly, she was just now eating her breakfast. From what I can tell, she woke up just a couple of minutes before I did. I wanted to tell her about what happened during the night before, but I felt as if it would disturb the main storyline of MLP. I didn't want to disturb anything. After we ate, we went outside to start today’s training.
“Okay, today we will start with a simple illusion spell,” Twilight began, “The goal of this spell is to create an image of an apple out of magic.”
“Okay, so how do we start?” I was eager to be able to learn how to learn how to do more advanced magic.
“Fist we’ll start with charging our horns. For you this will be a bit harder than for me. To start close your eyes and concentrate on bringing power into your horn. You should see an image of flowing colors. Try and focus on the one that looks like your aura.” When she was done explaining, she closed her eyes and her horn started to glow.
I closed my eyes and concentrated on power flowing into my horn like she said. The difference was I didn’t see an image of flowing colors. I saw what was around me like I was looking through a thermal imaging camera. Her horn looked like it was the hottest object in the room. I got concerned very quickly.
“Uh, Twilight, I might have a problem.” I said possibly sounding a little panicked. Okay, I was a little scared.
I saw her horn’s power go down through the image, and I could she opened her eyes. She looked concerned and confused. Apparently every thing seemed normal, but my horn wasn’t glowing.
“Helix what’s wrong? Are you hurt?” She said worriedly.
“I don’t know. You said I would see an image of colors, but I can see like normal. I can actually tell how much magic is in every object. It seems different than what I expected.” I was so confuse and hoped to Celestia that I wasn't sick.
“That doesn’t sound right. Try focusing on this.” She replied while holding up a ruby. Spike looked really upset at this. I think I remember him telling me it was his favorite.
“Okay, I’ll try.” I said worried. I didn't know a lot about how magic worked and hoped I didn't blow anything up.
When I focused on the gem, the magical energy from it flowed into my horn. I absorbed more and more until there was none left to take. I opened my eyes just in time to see the gem fade to gray and turn to dust. My horn faded and felt significantly more powerful.
“What the Celestia just happened!?” Spike yelled. Me and Twi were just as confused as he was.
“I think I siphoned all the magical energy out of the gem and into my body. I feel like I could perform any spell I wanted to.” I went to my hind hooves and flexed my fronts like I was a strong pony.
“Wow, I’ve never heard of such a power," Twilight said flabbergasted, "The magic in something keeps the atoms energized. Taking the magic out of them must have broken the bonds between each other.”
“Okay, I guess that makes sense. It still doesn’t tell how I got this power. Do any other unicorns in history have this power?” I asked hoping she would say yes.
“Not that I know of," she said making me a little worried, "I will look into it though. We should run some test’s to look for the extent of this power.”
“Okay, I’ll do it again if I can. This time I won’t take all of the power. After that I will try to filter the power into something else. If we continue to look into this, we could find out how much I can do. Hopefully we will find out how to use this and help every pony.” I was scared about what was happening but I also wanted to know more. I felt as if this could be a key to save a lot of ponies.
We tested my powers for hours. I could feel the power rush into and out of me. Every time I used too much of my own energy into the siphon, I would feel incredibly weak. I could actually filter magic into gems and power them, creating a light source or a magical reserve. Twilight could actually use her magic to envelope the gem and instantly absorb its excess power. I had not yet tried to use this power on a living thing yet.
“Twi, it’s been five hours. I think its time to call it a day. Im exhausted. Let’s go have some lunch and try to figure out our findings.” I said completely panting on the floor.
“Okay, I guess your right. Come on, I’ll make us some sandwiches. My treat.” Looking rather cheerful she turned and started walking back toward the kitchen. We practiced out on the balcony so the books didn’t get damaged by any stray magic bolts. I never did make an illusion.
Back in the library we both had a PB&J sandwich while spike had a bowl of gems that we didn’t use. He didn’t want to get sick from any, “magical mumbo jumbo” as he put it. While we ate I realized she was deep in thought. I was worried for her.
“Twi, are you still thinking about this power? It’s not healthy to dwell on something you can’t change.” I asked in a worried tone.
She finished her last bite of her sandwich and gave a long sigh.
“I’m worried about this power Helix," she said, "We don’t’ know fully what it does or how you got it in the first place. If the power gets to great it could corrupt and twist your mind. You could become evil. I don’t want to fight a friend. Even if you were given this power for a greater good, it could entail a war. I wish this world would survive, if that happened.” She looked almost depressed.
“Twilight, this power is something I don’t know of. But, if anypony can figure this out, it’s you. If it keeps bothering you, write to the princess. She will give you as much wisdom as she can,” I was very stern when I said this.
“Thank you Helix. I will write a letter to her in a couple of hours. I need to think about what I will tell her,” She replied a little happier.
“Don’t think to hard, you’ll freak out over it.” I said with a light chuckle.
She gave a light giggle and replied, “Okay, guess you’re right. Oh, I forgot, I never taught you how to make that illusion!” She looked a little startled at this realization.
“It’s okay Twi, you don’t have to worry. I’ll look in a book if I really want to know how to do it. Right now we have to relax from such a day of investigation. If you want to work on it some more tomorrow, we can test my powers on living things, see how it works,” I suggested.
“But who do we know that would be stupid enough to be a test subject for an unknown power?” She looked like she was looking through a list of all her friends.
I laughed so hared I thought I was going to have an accident.
“Twi, I meant with a plant or something, we don’t need an actual pony as a subject.” I managed to say through some light chuckles.
“Oh, my bad for not seeing the obvious. Heh heh heh.” Her face grew a deep shade of red due to embarrassment.
“Well, Twi im going to go over to Fluttershy’s. I want to see if she needs help.” I was just about to go out the door when I was interrupted.
“Helix, are you sure you want to go over. We still don’t know if you can control your powers fully.” Twilight sounded really worried. If it was for me of for her I had no idea.
“Don’t worry. I actually need to try to access it for me to use it. I can control it.” I said rather confidently. I left before she could interject again.
I made it to Fluttershy’s in about a half an hour. I didn’t know the everfree was so far from Ponyville. On the path I found many different animals looking out of their homes. A lot of them were rabbits. I also saw birds, snakes, and even a groundhog. I walked over to the door and knocked with my hoof. I didn’t get a response but I could tell she was home because I heard some hoof steps and what sounded like an upset rabbit. I knocked again and waited till she opened the door.
“Oh, um hello, Helix.” I couldn’t see her face. It was behind her mane like always. She even sounded a lot shyer than normal for some reason.
“Hey, I’m here to help if I can. Why are you hiding, you know me.” I tried to sound as comforting as I could.
“I know who you are, but I don’t actually know you. I’m still kinda scared I guess.” She shrunk back as if I was some murderer or something.
“Fluttershy, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about me or help with the animals in any way I can. You even said I could help. Please, don’t be afraid.” I said this as though I was talking to a scared cat hiding from a stranger.
“Oh, I guess I did say that. Okay, I guess you can come in. I do have some questions about where you come from.” She lightened up a little but still hid behind her mane.
I slowly walked in to her humble abode and realized how big it was. I didn’t expect a tree to be so big on the inside. The couch was in the middle of the living room, but there were so many different offshoots. Most of them were probably for the animals, but I couldn’t believe haw many there were. The house had to be at least twice the size of the library.
“Come, have a seat on the couch. You want some tea?” She asked very softly, but I could tell what she asked.
“I would love some tea Fluttershy, thank you.” I made a big smile as a said this and she smiled a little back, showing the rest of her face. I think my manners keep helping.
I sat down on the couch and began to admire her house again. I started looking at the pictures she had of her friends. Some were of their adventures; others were of them just having fun. My eyes fell upon a picture of her and Rainbow. They were both young. It reminded me of when I saw the episode showing the mane six’s cutie-mark stories. It looks like it was taken right after they got theirs. They were both holding out their flanks showing off their cutie-marks. It brought a warm smile to my face.
She came back with a tray holding a teapot, a couple of cups, and a small pot of sugar. She set it down on the table right in front of the couch, and she poured us each the same amount. She set hers down and started to add some sugar. Her eyes went wide realizing she forgot about me for a minute.
“Oh, I’m sorry, do you want some sugar? I should have asked first.” her face turned a light shade of red and looked away. Manners must be really important. I would expect this from Rarity.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to apologize. And yes, I would like some sugar thank you. I’ll get it.” With that I gently lifted the small pot from her hooves with my magic and scooped a little into my glass. I usually like a lot of sugar in my tea, but I didn’t want to seem rude.
She gave a small smile and said, “You seem to be getting better with your magic.” Her voice was very genuine and held none of the earlier shyness. I think I am starting to grow on her.
“Thank you, Twilights been a great teacher. I only know some basic spells but they help when you need them.” I gave a small smile and put the pot down. I forgot I was still holding it.
She got really excited and asked, “What did she teach you?” She leaned in close not to miss a single word.
“Oh, I learned how to use telekinesis effectively.” I smiled a little as I said this and tapped my horn for some added effect. It was a bad idea since it’s attached to your brain and all, but all it did was throb a little bit.
“I also learned how to make a small force field, shoot a force beam, and grow a mustache on ponies. I don’t know why she taught me that but it was funny.” I said with a chuckle. She giggled a little bit before she responded.
“Really, what did you do? Give spike one?” She giggled little bit more.
“Nah, I’ve seen that already. I gave Twilight one. You should have seen her face, it was priceless.” We both fell into fits of laughter at the absurdity.
The mustache she got was a great one. It was a big thick one that covered her entire upper lip and some of the sides. She had no idea I was going to cast it on her. She had spike be the test dummy. She stood next to him taking some notes. I changed targets right before I cast it and cast it on her instead. She was totally flabbergasted.
“Wow, I can’t even imagine her with a mustache,” Fluttershy said in between laughs.
I wiped a tear away and said, “Yeah, she screamed a little bit out of surprise. Of course she just un-cast it while me and spike were rolling on the floor laughing.”
“What did she do to get you back?” Fluttershy was still giggling a little.
I lowered my head a little out of embarrassment and said, “She made me read twice as much as normal and had to give a summary of what I read.”
She laughed even more making me even more embarrassed, “That does sound like Twilight, though using it as a punishment is usually reserved to spike.”
“Really, I feel sorry for the little guy. No wonder he’s so well behave when she’s around.” I thought about it and chuckled a little more.
“Helix?” she said this with determination but also with a little uncertainty.
“Yes Fluttershy.”
“Would you mind…maybe…..telling me about your world…..if that’s okay with you?” she hid behind her mane and shrunk a little.
“I don’t really want to.”
“Pleeeeeeeease?” she gave me a puppy dog face like I’ve never seen.
I sighed a little and said, “Okay Fluttershy, I’ll tell you. What do you want to know?”
“Owe, how about the animals in your world?” she said excitedly.
I chuckled and, with a smile, said, “Of course you would say that. We have many different animals in my world. We have dog, cats, fish, rabbits……”
“Wow, your world had so many animals we have!” She interrupted. She seemed to be daydreaming about animals, making me a bit uncomfortable. Maybe she’s a “furry”.
“Yeah, about that. We had some animals as pets you might not like.” I winced a little at my own words. I know I just made a major fuck up. I almost face-hoofed.
“What do you mean?” Her quizzical eyes looked so innocent I didn’t want to make her upset.
“Oh…. uh…. we had animals that were harmful and aggressive, but now that I think about it they aren’t that dangerous in this world. He he he.” I rubbed the back of my neck trying to look innocent but she quickly saw through that.
“That’s not what you were thinking. You’re hiding something aren’t you?” She glared. Something I didn’t think was possible form the yellow pegasus.
I gave a long sigh and hesitantly replied, “Yeah I didn’t want to tell you. In my world we have ponies as pets. Some use them as slaves and others use them as transportation.” She started to look a little disgusted. “Some of us, me included, don’t like it when you don’t let animals be themselves. Unfortunately, you can’t change everyone.”
That’s the second time I had to give bad news to a friend since I got here, and it’s the second time I forced myself into it by accident. I hated my self and I thought she hated me to, but when I looked at her face she had an expression akin to pity.
“I don’t blame you for what your world does. The rules are probably different between worlds. Thank you for telling me.” She smiled and placed a hoof on my shoulder making me feel a lot better. She didn’t even look disgusted.
“Thank you Fluttershy, I needed that. I love being here, in this world, but I am also kinda scared. Why did I come here instead of somewhere else? How did I get this body? How is my family dealing with my……… disappearance?” I didn’t want to tell anypony that I died, at least not yet.
“I understand. I’ve seen this happen to a lot of the critters that are lost. You’ll be fine. You are a very kind pony.” She gave me a huge smile and started toward the door. I didn’t realize that we had finished the tea, but my cup was empty, and I had a warm, full feeling in my gut. “How about we go help some animals?”
“Sure, that sound like a great idea.” I said hopping up from the couch. I was so excited to be back where I knew exactly what to do.
We spent the next couple hours helping many different animals. Some were shy, seeing a new pony isn’t always welcoming. Angle was being brat, but I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to get yelled at by Fluttershy, I knew she could bring me to tears with fear.
We did find a bunny with a broken arm. It wasn’t breaking skin so it didn’t freak the mare out, but I knew it would take a lot more than some soup and kind words to heal it. So after getting some supplies back Fluttershy’s house, I went to work mending the arm. It took a little while figuring out how to put every thing in place for the splint. Then I remembered I had magic and didn’t have to use my hooves.
“Thank you, I don’t think Rodger could have gotten better without your help.” She was cradling the poor rabbit in her forearms.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s my job to help animals. Although, I do better with small animals.” I was never really confterable around the big animals she deals with, like bears. You can guess why.
“Still, I have to thank you some how. I wouldn’t feel right to send you away without a reward for saving him.” After she ended her sentence, she nuzzled Rodger. This caused him to hug her as tightly as he could with one arm. I think I shed a tear.
I thought about what she could give me, and then I had an idea. “Fluttershy, do you know of where I could get a job. I want to earn some bits to get my own place, or at least pay Twilight a rent.” I scratched the back of my head.
“Oh, well I know of a veterinary clinic in Ponyville. I only take care of others animals when there sick or when they need a babysitter. They might hire you, and give you a great pay.” She said after a little bit of thought.
“Really, why didn’t Twi tell me? I could have been working during my free time after practice. Now all I have to do is learn about healing magic. That would be a good thing to learn if im going to be healing animals.” I was about to run off when Fluttershy stopped me.
“Helix, I should warn you. There are animals most ponies don’t like that get treated there.” She looked worried for a second, and then I gave a huge grin.
“Don’t worry; I will have the other vet’s to help me if something goes wrong. Besides, I don’t have a fear of any animal but manticores, maybe bears.” And with that, I ran off towards the library. I might even get some extra lessons from Twi.
Once I got to the library, I instantly went through the references looking for the books on healing magic. I found an entire encyclopedia on the damn subject. There were spells on everything. I found some on just dulling pain. I found others about disinfecting a wound. I even found a spell to fucking mend broken bones! I could have used that an hour ago when I was messing with the damn splint. I eventually found a spell to bring a pony back from the brink of death, but the user would have to either be an alicorn or sacrifice their life to do it.
“What you reading?” I heard twilight come from nowhere. It sacred the hell out me and almost made me buck her in the face. Heh, “buck her in the face” sounds really perverted.
“Twilight, don’t do that, I almost hit you. I swear you and Spike have no idea how to show up without scaring the hell out of me. Anyway, I’m reading a book on healing spells.” I said a little startled……I wasn’t really scared…..
She gave me a confused look, “Why are you reading that. We still haven’t covered illusion or transformation magic. Some of that magic is very high level.”
“I know, I found a spell that brings pony’s back when their about to die. I never knew you could do that. I’m reading this so I can teach myself how to do some of it to get a job at the vet’s clinic.” I went back to reading only to have my magic negated and it lifted away in an aura of violet. “Hey, I was reading that.” I said very angrily.
“You shouldn’t be reading that. You could get your self hurt. That one that saves a pony, it would kill you. You’re not ready.” She put the book back on the bookshelf where I found it.
“I know the cost of the spell. I never would have cast it. All I wanted was some spells to fix bones and heals cuts instantly. I’m not as stupid as you seem to think I am.” I glared at her while taking the huge book back off the shelf.
“We need to stick to the schedule,” she said while taking the book back out of my grasp, “You don’t need to know that stuff yet.”
“I was just trying to get a job to be able to pay you back for your hospitality. Was that so wrong?” I took the book back in my grasp pulling it a little bit toward me in the process.
“It’s a noble gesture, but I don’t need you to do that. I’m happy having the help around the library. Spike can’t always do what I need him to.” She said with a mix of modesty and insistence.
“I know you said that but can I at least get a job to be able to save up enough to by a house or plot of land? I love it here but im going to need my own space eventually,” I argued switching tactics. I really didn’t want to live in the library the entire time I was there.
“….Fine,” she said, defeated, after some thought, “But no jumping the magic schedule. We don’t need you hurting yourself. You’re going to have to find something else.” She was very stern about her schedule.
“I can live with that I guess. I’m going over to Pinkies, maybe the cakes need help,” I said. I really just wanted to get to my party. I know it’s going to be thrown when I get there.
I exited the library and started on my way to Sugarcube Corner. I wanted to get away from Twilight too. I didn’t want to hear about the “importance of a schedule” for the fifth time.
I was only able to get the first couple healing spells down before Twi came and ruined my studying. What’s wrong with studying? She is WAY to OCD about her schedule. The trick for healing spells, from what I could tell, is magic control. Apparently, Massive concentration is needed for the spells to be successful. The most advanced spell I learned was the first one I looked up, healing broken fucking bones. Im never putting a splint on a rabbit again.
“I should hurry, got a Pinkie party to get to,” I muttered with a smile. I walked a little faster to Sugarcube Corner which, unfortunately, is on the other side of Ponyville. Why are the damn mane six’s houses so far away from each other? I need to learn that Teleportation spell next time I have a personal study session. Fuck the schedule. Just then a pegasus landed on me.
“Ow! My wing!” it said while sitting on me. I couldn’t tell the gender of my new passenger due to the ringing in my ears. About a minute after I was landed on I was able to fix my minor concussion and say something.
“Can you please get off of me?!” I said a little loud and annoyed. Ponies are heavy and suck to be the cushion for.
“Oh, I’m sitting on somepony. I wondered why my landing didn’t hurt as much as usual,” she (I could finally tell by the voice what gender “it” was) said to her self before getting up. “Sorry about that sir, I don’t usually….” she trailed off staring at me.
She was obviously a pegasus but looked a lot different from what normal pegasi look like. She was a ZEBRA! She had an orange, striped coat and a blond mane with a gold stripe down the middle. Her beautifully messy mane style fell right over her stunningly purple eyes. I got lost in her eyes for a while. Then I looked at her wing. I was obviously broken and was not going to be able to fly for quite a while without attention.
“Oh no, your wing!” I exclaimed startled, “here let me fix that.” I took some gems Spike ‘let me borrow’ and drained each of almost all their energy. I focused on the healing spell but something happened. Instead of using the spell, my body started pumping magic energy into her body. All the energy I took from the gems was siphoned right into her wound, healing her instantaneously.
“Ouch! That stung a little,” she said as she finally stopped staring at me, “Im Clumclum by the way.” She lifted off the ground and seemed to be mesmerized by me again.
“No problem. I’m Helix,” I said extending my hoof. I finally notice her cutie mark as she started to fly. It was an upside-down smiley face with its tongue sticking out.
“Well, thanks,” she said quickly and sped off. I stared into the horizon she flew towards and stood there for a good 20 minutes. I started walking to the bakery and just couldn’t get that beautiful mare out of my mind. I think I have fallen in love.
“Twilight I need your help! I need you to teach me magic!” I yelled getting in her face just like how I had seen Pinkie Pie do thousands of times whenever I watched the show.
“Uh….Excuse me?” she blushed and stepped back.
“I. Need. You. To. Teach. Me. Magic.” I said very slowly so that she would be able to understand
“Why? Wait I don’t even know you, why do you trust me?”
She had a point. I could have been anyone. Wait anypony. Damn that got annoying.
“Because of where I came from, also, my name is… uh… Helix.”
“Okay, Helix, where do you come from?”
Well, I just got out played. I couldn’t delay it anymore. I had to tell her.
“Well twilight you might want to take a seat, this is pretty unbelievable.”
She left. Thinking I was going to get every element and both princesses at the foot of the bed I was in, I started to panic slightly. When she came back, I was qui relieved. She took a seat and levitated a quill over a piece of parchment ready to take notes.
“Twilight, I am from another world.”
Obviously, she didn’t believe me. She had a look of ‘you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.’ Seeing this I knew I was boned. I couldn’t possibly expect her to believe me. I was just some pony who came out of nowhere and said I was from another world. Just thinking it sounded crazy.
“Look, I know its weird, but you’ve got to believe me! I know a lot about this place, but I couldn’t walk even if I wanted! Why do you think I passed out? I couldn’t believe I was in this amazing world!”
“I have to admit it would answer a lot of questions, but that still doesn’t explain how you knew who I was.”
…..Damn.
“Okay, I’ll give you that. In my world, this universe, or whatever this place is, is just a T.V. show.”
“T.V.?”
“Basically, moving pictures that tell a story.”
“Thanks.”
Thank god she didn’t ask any more about that particular subject. I was never very proud of my “brony” status. Thankfully she didn’t ask about TV either. If she had asked, I couldn’t have told her. I may be smart but I know nothing about TV’s or computers.
“Wait…..What kind of story?” From the sound of here voice I could tell her mind went to the place all bronies go from time to time and I freaked out a little.
“Whoa… it’s just a story to teach morals to kids. That’s all. In fact, that was a weird question.” The look I got was hilarious. You had to be there to understand.
“What do you mean? I wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything inappropriate about this ‘TV show’.”
“Suuuure. Anyway can you please teach me some magic?”
“Fine, but no funny business.” The way I heard that was ‘no funny business or else’.
“Okay. Thank you for helping me Lady Twilight.” With that I bowed my head a little to show respect.
“Please, drop the ‘lady’ it’s embarrassing.” The amount of blush she had on her face was huge.
“Okay ill do as you ask, also can I stay here for now? I don’t exactly have a place to stay.”
“Sure, you can stay. But, you will have to help with the library.” Her voice was a little…….disgruntled? No, more of she didn’t have a choice.
“No problem it will give me a chance to read up on different spells and equestrian history!”
“You READ! Damn, I thought you were just another Rainbow Dash.” She realized she didn’t say anything about her friends till now and went to reply. Knowing a lot about them already I cut here off.
“I know who Rainbow is. The show depicted various adventures of the Elements of Harmony. I know every Element bearer, their respective element, and their personality. Considering you were my favorite of the six, im happy I appeared in your home. Even if I did pass out.”
She responded with a rather large amount of blush,”Oh, well thank you. I’m gonna just make a schedule for your training and see how Spike’s doing. Better rest up for tomorrow. We’ll start bright and early.” She responded with a rather large amount of blush.
With that said, she left to tend to whatever. I was left to think. I was going to learn magic. It will probably be hard, but it will be worth it just to have my life long dream come true. The only thing to do now is to make a good impression on Celestia and Luna so they don’t kill me, or worse, send me back to earth. I love my family, but I just can’t make them suffer anymore. I have decided to do everything in my power to make my new life here one of absolute paradise.
“Hey dude, how you feelin’.” The dragon’s voice startled me again. I swear he learned to teleport from Twilight somehow.
“Hey Spike I’m guessing Twilight already told you about me.”
“Yeah, she also had me write a letter to the princesses.” Of course she did. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Twilight.
“So, how much did she tell them?”
“Well she told them to meet her and the elements here, and that this was important enough to warrant them coming here.”
“They shouldn’t have to come here, the princesses need only to concern themselves with those who are worthy of their audience.” I didn’t have to tell him that I wasn’t able to get there, but I couldn’t have them come here if it was just for me. I was just a foreigner. Someone (somepony) who didn’t even belong here. I didn’t need their audience the only reason they came was because of twilight. I couldn’t thank her enough.
“Naw dude, from what I was told your story is defiantly worth their time.”
“Thanks Spike, that means a lot.”
“Just don’t think I’ll let you hurt my sister! Or Rarity!” he said getting up in my face and baring such tiny teeth I wanted to awe.
“Whoa. I would never hurt any of them. Besides, I thought twilight was more of your mother?”
“Whatever.” And with that he left without another word.
Well that was weird. With that I decided to go to sleep. Hopefully I would have a better day tomorrow.
“I’m here to talk to her. I finished my job at the library and wanted someone to talk to.”
“You work at the library? Ah thought that’s was Twilights job?” She tilted her head and cocked an eyebrow, clearly confused.
“It is. I have to work there in exchange for living there. I didn’t have a place to stay when I got here, and she was nice enough to give me housing.”
“Well, if you get sick o’ twilight, you could always stay with me and mah family.”
“That’s very kind of you Applebloom, but I’m more like twilight than you think. We both love to read, and we both love science.”
“You like science? Ah expected you to play sports, or do lots o’ hard work?” If I had kept saying unexpected things her face might have permanently looked confused.
“Yes, I love science. What I do, however, is hard work. I am a veterinarian.”
“A veti-what now?” I didn’t think she could look more confused than when I said I liked science, but clearly I was wrong. If she had turned her head anymore I would have thought she snapped her neck.
“A veterinarian. I pretty much do what Fluttershy does, except I work on severely wounded animals. I take animals that would die and save their lives. I wanted to do that since I was young.”
“Then why is your cutie mark an infinity symbol. Ah would expect you to have something relating ta animals.”
“Applebloom, my cutie mark, I have no idea what I means, and I don’t want to talk about it right now. When I figured it out I will tell you” I was dead serious.
“But Helix, Ah still need mine. Maybe listening about yours will help me get mine. Ah don’t want to be a blank flank forever.”
“Applebloom, if you just keep doing what you do, you will get yours in no time. Just be yourself, and everything will be as it should. You will be exactly who your supposed to be.”
“Thanks Helix! Hey, Ah’m going to go try and get my cutie mark with my friends. Want to come with?”
“Sure, I have nothing better to do.” I should have said no. I wouldn’t have had to endure the heart attacks that are the CMC.
