She spread her wings, and tried to take flight
To catch up with her hero, who was always just out of reach.
Her wings fluttered at her sides, a hummingbird in flight
But even the strongest fliers start out small.
She picked herself of the ground, and saw the rainbow streaked mare fly out of sight
No tears shed, as the small filly stares determinedly ahead
Don’t worry flightless hummingbird, your wings will grow
Remember the strongest flies start out small.
You try, and try to fly across the sky
Catching up to heroes painted into the colors of rain
But now is not the time
Even the strongest fliers start out small
Days turned to months, months turned to years
She looks up to the painted sky, praying her rainbow hero will see
The struggle, the pain, and the sorrow
Soon, she prays, I’ll fly
But one to many falls were taken,
and now she sits alone crying to the hero that she is invisible to
Hope is fading, the light is breaking
Nothing but drops of rain
You try, and try to fly across the sky
Catching up to heroes painted into the colors of rain
But now is not the time
Even the strongest fliers start out small
Warmth protects against the cold
And she looks up to her hero painted with rain
A warm smile smiles across the face she adores
Reassurance passed, darkness fades for a small moment in her eyes
Days turned to months, and she is soaring on the ground
Faster than anypony dares to go
Following her painted hero on grounds stable base
Flying with her hero above her
You try, and try to fly across the sky
Catching up to heroes painted into the colors of rain
But now is not the time
Even the strongest fliers start out small
