What counts as reality? What counts as a dream? How does one tell one from the other? Can someone tell the difference between the two while in either? How does the mind tell them apart and if it could, would it truly believe? Have the sounds and songs heard come from within or without? The images seen real, a dream, or a meld of them?

Questions, all I truly know now are questions. They come from my mind or so I hope and not from my own twisted reflection. I don't know how long these questions and probably many more have been going through my mind.

All I wanted to do was escape from want ever the world actually was at the end and I thought I had finally found a way. After all the things I had seen through that green and red haze done for what ever reason that was bought into at the time and everything I had done myself by my own hands. I hoped it would be the end of myself imposed torment when I closed my eyes that last time.

However, something happened before or during the time my eyes became heavy. There was suppose to be nothing, nothing of every kind and it was going to be the end for me.

At first I think it was. There was nothing, I was nothing. Then I slowly started to see and hear things. The past, possible past, my hopes and dreams, my fears and terrors. They were random with no order  to them. Then they seemed to play out with only chaos seeming to rule them.

Soon they stopped and returned to what they had been before, however this time they seemed to filled with sorrow, longing and great sadness. Then what I believed to be songs filled that with a hope that it would one day end. They seem to be growing stronger with time but I can't make them out just hints of voices and notes of some ethereal music.

Soon I felt darkness creeping back into my mind but not from within it was from outside. Along with it I felt the means to return to whatever the outside world is. It wasn't the darkness that would do this but the eight colored blobs of hazy lights I thought I saw. Parts of me raged against this.

They simply wanted to go back to the near nothingness it embraced. Other parts wanted to return to the world to live again to attempt to correct its past wrongs. What I knew to be me just didn't care, content just to let things happens, from what I guessed was a broken mind.

The colored lights seem to be coming together now or at least most of them. They seem be running after another blob that maybe coming near me. I begin to wonder what is going on. Could they be trying to use the fail safe that was put in?

Before I could think more on it one of the hazy blobs exploded and when it died the blob was no longer. In its place was a small well lit sphere among the other blobs. They again all moved on after one of the others.

Was all this happening or was it all a product of my mind like everything else since I closed my eyes? As I watched and time passed another of the blobs exploded and was replaced by a well lit sphere. This time the world I was in became clearer.

Everything was a little clearer and I felt more in control of myself. It seemed as though I was starting to stop fighting myself. I turned my attention to the lights. Soon a third explosion and then another sphere and more clarity and strength.

Something was different with this one, it started to fell as if I was forgetting something important but wasn't sure. It tugged at the back of my mind until the fourth sphere appeared.

There was something important I was forgetting about my situation or was it before or both? I couldn't remember but I know it was important, what was it?

After the fifth explosion of light and sphere it was clearer.  I now knew it was something from before the darkness that would effect me after I awoke. Yes, that was it but what specifically? A since of panic was starting to make itself known to me and after the sixth sphere I remembered.

I was injured before I had come to this place to try and escape from the world. I didn't know what was going to happen after I awoke if I did at all but I knew I needed medical assistance. My thoughts were soon interrupted violently as the six spheres drew together and focused their light at the seventh blob.

When they hit they peeled away the shell which drifted away into the ether and exposed another that was growing in brightness. I knew this brightness it had brought joy and sorrow in the world outside to me. Along with that I now could fell my physical body and it now knew pain again. I knew I had to awake now or I would not survive but did I want to?

If I did finally die I would have what I had been wanting. I would no longer question. I would no longer have to fear the reflection. I would not have to redeem the past. It would end. I thought this and more when I come to my answer.

I would survive, I would fight , I would question, I would redeem. I would die only after fighting to the bitter end, it was what I was, what my species was.

During all this I guess I failed to realize the eighth and final blo... no, sphere it was always a sphere, had appeared and joined the other seven. Suddenly, I was actually seeing and hearing and feeling again for the first time.

I quickly stood from the throne I was sitting on and was greeting with a new burst of pain. I let the world, what ever it may be, know with a loud primal scream of pain and fury I was still alive or so I believed. I now felt the warmth running down my left arm and side and the outside of my right leg.

Gifts from my last battle, ones that made me decide to end my existence through nothingness. I looked down and saw my tools of the trade. I moved to pick them back up but I suddenly felt weakness wash over me from my entombment. I needed to get out of it and find help, I still had things to due.

I took a deep breath and slowly walked to the exit at the end of the camber, then the corridor to make it to the stairs to leave this place behind me for now.

At the exit of the room with the stairs I found it had been sealed off. I was confused it had been open just moments a... Wait, I just realized I had no ideas how long I had been down here. Those that had awaken me may not know I was here. I thought I heard voices coming from the other side but couldn't be sure. Soon my weakness was quickly replaced with a angry, fury, hate and desperation driven strength.

I threw that strength into my limbs and assaulted the stone. There were cracks as my fist and feet hit the stone. Following them were screams, threats, and insults. I refused to let it end like this but in the back of my mind I heard a part of it said just let it happen, let it end. With my next punch I got results.

I felt the stone crack and buckle out with a solid crack. That wasn't the only thing I felt. The bones in my left fingers, hand and wrist did the same as the stone with noise and shape. Now I knew there was someone on the other side.

Most sounded afraid and panicky, two others did not though. One sounded angry, upset, with fear creeping into their voice. The other while sounding happy and joyous had angry and fear lacing it.

I started my screaming and yelling again as I attacked the stone again fighting to escape. Soon a dark blue aura appeared around the stone and ripped it apart as I landed another blow with my right fist. I stood there as the wall crumbled along with my strength. As the light poured in I was blinded to the outside world as I fell to the ground completely expended. Before I passed out I heard a single sentence that I could not understand. I answered it regardless with a simply sentence myself with a dry horse voice.

"I am alive."
