He dismissed all the claims as nothing. He never saw the dangers. He neglected his duties for a wedding. And now as his final ounce of energy is rapidly leaving him, Shining Armour looks on as all he has known and loved is being taken away from him and his. He tries to argue that it was the work of the Changeling Queen who ruined everything for him, but she retorts with a fact that makes him realise with horror who was at fault for all of this and how it will cost him all that he has known, loved and what he has left.
