Twilight Sparkle finds an old collection of notes in the Everfree castle written by Starswirld The Bearded pretaining to an original spell specifically for dimensional viewing. However, the spell expands unitentionally and pulls Twilight Sparkle and Princess Luna into the portal along with two multidimensional travelers.

It is cannon up to Daring Don't of season 4.
