//-------------------------------------------------------// The Missing Element -by colors4712- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Missing? //-------------------------------------------------------// Missing? I trotted into the Throne Room to see my mother pacing back and forth. The guards were at the sides of her throne, watching. "Mother, what are you doing? Did you loose your brush again? I'm pretty sure I saw it this morning." I told her walking up to where she was pacing. "Speed Paint, this is not a time to humor." She said seriously, while looking at me. She stopped her pacing and looked behind me. I turned around. I wasn't surprised what I saw. There standing right at the Throne Room's Entrance, was no other, than Princess Twilight Sparkle, and her friends. "Great." I quietly muttered to myself. My mother rushed pass me and straight to Twilight. I went towards my Mother's Throne and started talking to one of the guards named, Silver Shot. Besides Lighting Dust, Trixie, and Sunset Shimmer, Silver Shot was one of my greatest friends. "Ugh, You know what? I think she likes Twilight more than me." I told him sitting down on the Throne. He looked up at me. "Speed Paint, you can't actually be serious." He said raising an eye brow at me. "I'm as serious as my Mother's own name. I know I sound selfish, but it's true. She never trusts me." I concluded putting a hoof on my chest. He rolled his eyes and gave a heavy sigh. "She trusts you. Remember when you saved Equestria from Nightmare Moon?!" He lifted a hoof, making a rainbow. I shook my head and lowered it in shame. "That was Twilight." "What about when you stopped your father from utter chaos?" "Twilight again." "Crystal Empire from King Sombra?" "Twilight." I said with a small sigh. I lifted my head up and looked at him. Silver Shot had his head down. Like he failed. "Hey, cheer up. It's not your fault that my Mother doesn't trust me. Besides, maybe one day-" I stop and think about what I was going to say. I give a small chuckle to myself. "Ha! Never mind." "I'm sorry, Speed Paint." He simply said. "What? Why?" I asked confused. "Because, Well, actually I don't know. You have it hard, I guess." He tried to smile. I smiled back. "Oh, Silver. You shouldn't be sorry. And truth is, I don't have it hard. I don't even raise a hoof in this place. Only because my mother doesn't trust me. But, I have you." I smiled big at him. He gave me a true smile. "And Speed Paint will be joining you." My mother suddenly said gazing at me from across the room. I quickly looked at my mother with wide eyes. What? What was I doing? "You were saying?" Silver quickly whispered to me. I shot a look at him, and he was pretending to ignore me;looking forward with a straight face. "What?" I asked blankly. "Come here, Speed Paint." My mother said. My ears shot down and I wearily came down the steps of the Throne. Silver Shot's eyes were now wide open; looking at my every move. The other guard just stood in his royal position, with that same royal serious face. I lifted my head a little, as every pony was now watching me. I trotted over to my mother. I looked up at her and she glanced down at me. I managed to spread a small grin. "Speed Paint, I'm trusting you to go on a very important mission. If you want to have balance, you will go with Twilight and her friends to save an element." She told me. I didn't understand. "What? I thought we had the Elements of Harmony already. Why do we need to save one?" I asked confused. I wasn't sure what my so call 'mission' was. "Not the Elements of Harmony, the Life Elements. Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. But the Element of Fire, named Burn, has gone missing. I have too many duties to attend the mission. If we can't find where Burn is, I'm afraid, even just one element, will create dis-harmony. Tagging along will be the other Elements. Airis, the Air Element, Grasslin, the Earth Element, and Typhhon, the Water Element. Daughter, can I trust you with this important mission?" My mother asked. All the weight was on my shoulders. If I said no, than Twilight, her friends, Silver Shoot and my own mother would think I'm a coward. But, if I said yes, I could risk my life trying to save Equestria's balance. So, instead of saying something awesome like, 'I'll do it! For Equestria!' or, 'I won't let you down, Mother! I promise!' I simply said, "But, Why include me? What if I fail, or something?" "You won't. I included you in this mission, because, well, I never let you out of the castle. I was too afraid of loosing you. I can't loose my little Filly. But, you have to grow up, and-" Tears grew in my mothers lavender eyes. "And, I have to trust you." She finally said. Well, now I couldn't just say no. I gave a big sigh and bravely(Mostly) said, "Fine. I'll try to do my best mom. For you." And with that, cheers filled the room. Mostly by a pink Earth Pony by the name, Pinkie Pie, I think. My mother pulled me in a warm embrace by her wing. After my mother released me from her tight grasp, she walked off crying to my Aunt Luna, who was in the Throne room entrance. I felt a hoof on my back. My wings flared and I shot back. It was Silver Shoot.I gave him a weary smile. He nodded, gesturing me to follow him. Silver and I walked out of the Throne Room, into the hallway. It was a one of the thousands of hallways, but this one happened to be my favorite. It had giant windows looking out the gorgeous land of Equestria. We stopped right in the middle. "Are you okay?" He asked me. I sat down and looked out the windows, completely ignoring his question. "Speedy, are you okay!?" He asked, a bit more concerning. He sat down next to me. "I don't think this is what I meant by saying, ' I want her to trust me more often.'" I told him. I saw him give a small nod. "Do you think you'll be alright? I can try and come with you. For protection, of course." He said in a much more serious tone. I shook my head. I was glad for his offer, but I didn't want him hurt. Besides his Job remains in the castle. Protecting my mother, not me. "Thanks, but I'll think I can maybe make it." I lied. I was just about to burst in tears. I was so nervous. "And your jobs here. Not with me. But, thanks for trying." I told him with a very weak smile. "I suppose your right, and what do you mean by maybe?" He curiously asked. I gave a small giggle. He always knew how to make me laugh. Even at the worst of times. Hay, he could make me laugh even If I knew I was going to die in the next 4 minuets. "Alright, I will make it out alive. Happy?" I smiled sarcastically at him. He had a weird look on his face, like he knew I was lying or something. "Really?" "Really." "Really, Really?" "Super Really." "I don't believe you. Your a horrible liar sometimes." He told me. I couldn't help it. I was. (Sometimes.) All the tears were about to rust out of my eye sockets. All the fear and tremble. All the confusion. All the anxiety. I just leaped into his hooves and started to sob. "I don't know, Silver. I don't know If I can make it back! What if I can't? I can't let my family name go into ashes if I fail! Everything is on my hooves! The fate of Equestria depends on Twilight and I!  What if she makes it back, and I...I don't?" I asked myself and Silver. I just kept sobbing and saying, "I'll Fail! I'll fail! What if I don't come back?" "Shh, shh. It's okay. Everything will be okay, Speedy." He kept saying while holding me. I don't know why, but at that moment, I felt so safe. Lying in the arms of my Best Friend. I didn't feel so...so Anxious anymore.
