Chapter one: The Forbidden Room
I wake up to a shining bright morning. It's July Twentieth(A.K.A, my B-DAY!). I hop out of my bed, stretch, and skip downstairs to the kitchen.
I bump into my Aunt Miranda on the way down. "Oh, morning sunshine! I've got a special birthday breakfast prepared for you. Eat up, it's an important day!" she cheered, walking past me. As I stepped into the kitchen, I saw a huge plate full of fried eggs, bacon, and a pile of toast with a candle sticking out of it in front of my reserved spot of the table. "Yum." I smiled sitting to eat.
Fifteen minutes later, I had finished. Miranda and Bryan(Miranda's husband and my uncle) had joined. "Hey squirt, go get ready. We've got a big day planned today." Bryan said as I washed my plate at the sink. "Alright, be down in a few." I smiled, rushing back to my room.
I picked out a nice outfit for the day, really casual though, jeans a tank top and flip flops. I stepped out, when something caught my eye.
I glanced to my right and looked up. I saw the attic's door slightly open, and something shining.
The attic. When I had moved in after my parents passed six years ago, it was the one room Miranda, my dad's younger sister, had banned me from going in.
'Should I go in?', I thought to my self. The 'Angel' part of me ushered, 'No! Don't go, you'll lose Miranda and Bryan's trust!'. While the 'Devil' said, 'Go in! They'll never no you just looked around!'.
Me, being a rebellious teenager, sided with Devil. I took in a big breath, and opened the door. Luckily, it made no sound, not even a creak. I walked around, and was amazed by what I saw. The room was full of old antiques in glass cases and spiffy, if dusty, outfits hanging around. I saw a shimmer again, and looked at the back of the room.
There was a small necklace. It was a ruby(My birthstone) and was shaped like a horse... strange. I flipped it around, and saw an 'A' engraved on the back in silver.
It was so pretty.
Naturally, the greedy part of me told me to put it on, and I did.
Suddenly, I saw a blinding white light, and I blacked out.

I groaned as I opened my eyes to a shining sun. 'How did I get outside?' I thought to myself. I rubbed my eyes, and it took me a second to realize my hands were larger than usual... wait.
Not hands... but hoofs.

Hooves. I had hooves.
I gingerly stood up, balancing myself out, and examined the rest of me.
I had a silky white coat with a flowing aqua blue mane. My tail was the same color, tied in a bow and braided. I realized, I had wings too. I stretched them out and flapped them. Then, I got another shocking realization. I had a horn too.

I noticed a small pond a few yards away. "Good, I can get a better look at my self." I said. I took a few steps forward, and realized it was pretty easy to walk, or should I say trot? Well, I 'trotted' over to the pond and gazed up my reflection. I had bright teal eyes. I noticed on my rear end, or for horses it's a flank, I had a mark. I looked at it, and saw it was a ruby with a crescent moon encircled around it.
Weird....
I turned around, and was greeted by a loud, "Oh my goodness!"
I found my self face to face with a unicorn. What else does this place have, dragons? She was my height, and had a white coat like mine, but her mane and tail were purple and curled. She had dark blue eyes and a mark on her flank too, but it was three shining diamonds.
"Uh... hi?" I said sheepishly. "My my, I've didn't know there was another alicorn in Equestria. Are you royalty, darling?" she said examining me, which made me feel awkward. "Um... no. Why, is it normal for 'alicorns' to be royalty?" I asked, testing out my new vocabulary. "Yes, all the known alicorns are. Like Celestia and Luna-" she said, but stopped.
"Oh my, where are my manners. I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Rarity, fashonista and designer extraordinaire." she bowed. "Oh, my name's Amber." I smiled. "Amber, not a common pony name... but so exotic! Anyways darling, come with me. You must explain everything. You also must meet my friends, they'll be so happy to meet yet another alicorn!" she smiled, ushering me into a small town near where I just popped up. "Oh... alright." I said unsure, as I followed her.

Apparently, Rarity even had her own business in Ponyville(Rarity said that's what the town was called). It was a small boutique, where she designed and sold outfits for the people- sorry, ponies- of Ponyville.
As we walked in, I was taken aback by all the outfits. Most of them were beautiful dresses, but their were some specially made outfits for boys- or is it colts and stallions now?
"Wow, Rarity, you've got some talent." I said, examining a midnight blue dress decorated with the moon and stars. "Well, I don't like to gloat, but it's part of why I got my cutie-mark. Finding jewels too-""Cutie-what?" I interrupted her.
She looked at me curiously. "Do you not know what a cutie-mark is? I mean, you have one on your flank." she tilted her head slightly. "Oh, that's what it's called. I had no idea... strange." I replied. "Yes, strange indeed. Come Amber, I'm taking you to Twilight." she said pulling my hoof and leading me out the door. "Who's Twilight?" I asked.
She stopped and looked at me. "You don't know Princess Twilight Sparkle?" she asked me. I shook my head to say no. "Okay then, you really need to see her."

Rarity led me through Ponyville until we stumbled upon a huge tree turned into building... strange, but I'm a human turned magical pony so it doesn't really surprise me.
She knocked on the door, and we were greeted by a small purple and green dragon. Really? A dragon? OMFG!?!?
"Oh.. Hi, Rarity." he said, patting down his scales. He looked up at her with a dreamy look in his eyes. "Hi, Spike. Is Twilight here? I have something I must speak with her about." Rarity answered, ignoring the look Spike gave her. "Oh, she's in the back. Come on in." he said, opening the door wider. As I slid past him, I noticed her looked at my wings and horn. "Uh, hi, Spike." I said. "And you are?" he asked. "Oh, the name's Amber. You can say I'm, uh, new around here." I answered, following Rarity.
I gazed around the room and saw the shelves filled books upon books. In the center of the room sitting on a pillow was another alicorn, like me. She had a light purple coat, with dark purple mane and tail with streaks of pink in it. Her cutie-mark was a magenta six pointed stair with white sparkles around it.
"Twilight." Rarity said, but the mare didn't look up because she was in the middle of a book, and from what I could see, she was very sucked into it. "Twilight?" Rarity said again. She rolled her eyes, and a light blue aura appeared around her horn. It formed around the book too and then the novel snapped shut. "Hey!? I was- Oh, Rarity, it's you. Sorry, I was-" she stopped short though when she noticed me. "Twilight, meet Amber! Amber, meet Twilight!" Rarity said in a cheery tone of voice. "W- where'd you find her? I didn't know there was another alicorn!" Twilight said. "Nor I, she's apparently not royalty either. I found her near the pond outside of Ponyville. But, Twilight, I must discuss an important matter with you, in private." Rarity said, pulling Twilight to the corner of the room.
They spoke in a hushed conversation, occasionally glancing over at me. After a minute or two, Twilight called out, "Spike!"
The little guy came running in, "What is it, Twilight?" "Spike, please take a letter." Twilight told him. He ran over to a shelf and pulled out a quill and a blank parchment. "Dear, Princess Celestia," Twilight recited, "I have come across an urgent dilemma. I must speak with you immediately. No need to reply, for me, my friends, and a special guest will all be on our way to Canterlot soon. Signed, Princess Twilight Sparkle." Spike wrote it all down and inhaled sharply. He breathed out a green fire that caught the letter and sent it away with the wisp of smoke. "Whoa." I muttered as I watched it trail out the open window. "Come on, Amber. We're going to see the Princesses of Equestria. But first, we need to go pick up four of our friends." Twilight said, trotting out the door, followed by Rarity.

As we walked through Ponyville, random people- sorry, ponies (I must get used to my new grammar!)- kept throwing me glances and looks.
"Um, why is everyone staring at me?" I asked Twilight as we walked down the dirt path. "Oh, it's just strange seeing a new alicorn, that's all. And it's everypony, not everyone." she said, and corrected me. "Oh, alright." I nodded.
We soon arrived at a cake shaped building. Rarity explained that it was called Sugar Cube Corner. A bakery. She said their friend, Pinkie Pie, lived and worked here.
We walked in, soon to be happily greeted by a short, blue pony with swirl top pink hair. "Oh, hello Twilight, Rarity. Oh- and who's this beautiful young mare?" she said, with a smile. "Oh, hi Mrs. Cake. This is Amber. By the way, do you know where Pinkie is? We're looking for her." Twilight said. "Oh, Pinkie? I believe she went to the market. Said she needed more supplies for her party cannon." Mrs. Cake answered. "Party cannon?" I asked. "Oh, well, it's... It's rather hard to explain. You'll just have to see it for yourself." Rarity said. "Well, thanks Mrs. Cake. Come one, girls." Twilight said.

A few minutes later, we were at the Ponyville market. I saw many stands and vendors. Some stands sold fruits and vegetables, like carrots and cherries. I also saw beautiful flower stands too, with roses and lilies.
Then something caught my eye.
I saw a bouncing pony hopping from stand to stand. Her coat was light pink and she had a very curly hot pink mane and tail. She was also being followed by a yellow pegasus with a long pastel pink mane and tail. In the pink one's saddle bag, I saw confetti and streamers hanging out.
"Hey Pinkie! Hey Fluttershy!" Twilight called, waving her hoof. The two ponies turned their heads, and trotted over.
"Hey Twilight, Rarity, Spike and random alicorn I've never seen before!" Pinkie smiled. I noticed she had three blue and yellow balloons as her cutie-mark.
"Pinkie, Fluttershy, meet Amber. She's an alicorn as you can probably tell." Twilight said.
"I-I didn't know that t-there was another alicorn." Fluttershy stuttered in a quiet voice. She had three pink butterflies as her cutie-mark.
"Neither did we, but that's why we're going to see Princess Celestia in Canterlot. We have to go get Applejack and Rainbow Dash now, so come on." Twilight said, turning around and trotting away. We all shrugged, and followed her.

We soon found ourselves at a farm. Specifically, an apple farm. "Sweet Apple Acres." I read aloud from the sign. "Yep, this is where a friend Applejack lives! She's an apple farmer, like her family!" Pinkie smiled, hopping down the path towards the farm house. "The name makes that obvious..." I sighed, galloping to catch up with everyone.
Before I could ask where their other friends were, a blur of colors zoomed past, before rocketing into the sky again.
"Rainbow! Give back my hat!" A southern accent yelled behind us.
I turned and saw an angry looking orange mare with a yellow mane and tail, which were both tied with red bands. She also had three red apples as her cutie-mark.
"Sorry AJ! I can't hear you from all the way up here!" Rainbow smirked, sitting on a cloud. "Rainbow Dash! Stop fooling around! We have something important to do!" Twilight yelled, a magenta aura forming around her horn. Next thing I knew, Twilight had disappeared and reappeared on the cloud with Rainbow. She grabbed Applejack's hat off Rainbow's head, then flew down next to us.
"Thank ya kindly, Twi." Applejack said, once Twilight returned the hat to it's owner. "Come on girls! We're going to Canterlot!" Twilight smiled.

Next thing I know, where on a train heading up a mountain to Canterlot.
