I walked down the hall of my ship to the bridge, where Gilda and Derpy were sitting checking how the ship was doing. "Captain! I found us a potential target." Derpy said.
"Where?" It had been weeks since we had gotten any real targets, and the bounty on our heads didn't make it any easier.
A system just a jump away, with only one planet colonized, a single city called Ponyville. It wasn't settled too long ago, so they're still relying on some traders and merchants." She said.
"Perfect. Gilda, as soon as we get into the system, prepare the weapons. Tom?" I asked through the earpiece. "Prep the engines for a jump." I told him.
Wait, let me tell you first who my crew is. Derpy is a pegasus, and was the first crew member I ever had. Tom was a changeling, and I found him robbing the ship, and was about to shoot him, when I saw how hungry he was. I took him in, and he's been part of the crew ever since. Gilda I found in an alley, about to be captured by slavers. Got her ass out of there, now she's weapons master on the ship.
"Got it, captain!" Tom said.
"Jump in three... Two... One... Now!" The ship accelerated, a blue light surrounding as we entered Hyperspace. "Derpy, how long is this supposed to take again?"
"Only a few minutes!" She smiled, munching on a muffin she had got from who knows where.
"Tom, what's the exact time of our arrival?" I asked him.
"Right about now!" He said.
"Gilda, fire up the three plasma cannons, prep at least two missiles, and get the ray gatling gun online!" I shouted when I saw what was happening. It was a total war zone. The Lunar Republic was attacking the planet, more like sieging, though. Lines of plasma flew through space, bullet like beams tearing through armor, and missiles destroying ships.
"Tom, I'm really glad our bridge is in the center of our ship now." I told him.
"Me too."
"Captain! The colony defense ships don't have Solar Empire markings!" Derpy told me.
"What? But... All colonies are controlled by the Solar Empire or Lunar Republic!" I said, amazed. Who would go so far as to pronounce a colony independent? I asked myself.
A communication request popped up on my console. Tapping on it, a woman with fiery green hair with pink highlights and green eyes stared back at me. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Stalker. I was here to pirate, but now I'm here for..." I paused, before shrugging my shoulders. "Hell if I know."
She glared at me. "Who are you going to help? The Republic, or us? The only independent colony?" She asked, getting frustrated.
I thought about it, stroking my stubble. "You, I guess. There was a reason I became a pirate. Gilda, fire two missiles at the capital ship, fire the plasma cannons wherever, and give me control of the gatling gun." She nodded. A screen flickered on my console, this time of a view of space. I grabbed my video game controller, because it was easier to shoot that way, and started looking for targets. They had already noticed us because the two missiles crippling the capitals ships engines.
"Missile lock!" Derpy shouted.
"I'm on it!" I responded. I spun the gatling around, looking for the missiles, before my eyes widened. Coming for us was a swarm of hundreds of missiles. "Tom! Use the jammer! Also evasive tactics!" I shout, pressing the trigger. The gatling sent hundreds of ray bolts into the swarm of missiles, blowing up tens, and causing a chain reaction because of how close together they were, but it wasn't enough. More had made it through.
"Jammers active!" Didn't help. The fifty so missiles that made it through were headed straight towards us.
"Maybe you could pilot us away from their path?" I asked him.
"You do that."
"Oh... Yeah... Lets just go!" I let go of the game controller to make a sharp right turn. "Wait! Man I'm an idiot."
Noth piloting and gun shooting were controlled by the PlayStable controller. I could do both at the same time! "Sir, another missile wave incoming!" Derpy reported.
"Damn!" I cursed. Firing at the missile, I swerved left then right, the missile jammer having gone off after the first wave. Getting an idea, I said, "Hang on, ladies and gents!" I piloted the ship to the capital ship, making sure the missiles were following me.
"You're not doing what I think you're doing?" Gilda asked.
"Yeah I am!" I replied.
"Lets do it!" She said. We were almost about to crash with the capital ship, before I made a sharp turn left, meters above the armor. The missiles, however, couldn't make a turn like that, and impacted on the ships side. I saw bodies, electronics, and in one case, the contents of a missile tube.
"Target he missiles near the ship!" I told Gilda.
"Yes sir!" She took aim with the plasma cannons, and sent three beams of plasma towards the missiles. It was beautiful. Not only did it add to the damage, it also made quite a nice light show. I kept on flying around the ships, so firing missiles were not a good idea. On fact, firing anything at all was a bad idea.
"Gilda! Fire at will!" I took aim with the gatling, and started to put holes in any ship I passed.
A comm request popped up on my console. I tapped it, and it showed the woman from before, this time smiling. "They're retreating. At least those of them that can." She said.
"I suggest boarding those and capturing them for extra strength and possibly materials if you can't repair them." I told her. Looking around at the screens, only a quarter of the ships were retreating.
"No need for that. The crews are surrendering as we speak. One of them said something about you being a survivor of the Griffon Rebellion. But what are the chances? There were only three survivors!" She exclaimed.
"Put me through to that captain." I told her. "Now."
She nodded. Another image popped up, of a man with dark brown hair and grey eyes. "Dan." I said coldly.
"Stalker! That you!" He asked, smiling. "I knew it was you as soon as you used our missiles against us. Only you could pull that off perfectly."
"Why are you here?" My face was expressionless.
"Luna wanted us to take this colony for some reason. I'm not authorized to know the rest." He sighed.
"Surrender your crew and give up the ships to them. Understand?" I said coldly. He nodded. "Good."
I turned off that image and asked the woman, "What's your name?"
"Chocolate Pie. I'm a descendant of Pinkie Pie!" She said proudly.
"Can I have control of the colony?" I asked.
"No! Absolutely no-" I cut her off.
"You are in no position to argue. I survived the Griffon Rebellion. You defense force is nothing to me." I growled. "You'll give control to me, now!"
She nodded, obviously frightened. "Good. I'm coming to land." I cut off the comms and sighed.
"Was that the best idea?" Tom asked me.
I rubbed my forehead. "I don't know. I just did that to so I could make sure this colony didn't die. I used to lead. I know what to do. I just hope they don't hate me for it."
Landing was uneventful, and we touched down on the edge of the city. I had my M-4 strapped to my back, as usual whenever i left the ship, and the others all had their respective weapons. "So we're really doing this?" Tom asked. I nodded. "You've gone mad." He told me. I nodded again. "Your idea is ridiculous, idiotic, and has so many fucking flaws it could make a battleship. I like it!" He concluded. I chuckled at that.
"Now I'm a bit scared about the part where you actually like my plan. That's when i know you're spending too much time around me." I said.
"Probably." Gilda said.
"Anyone want a muffin?" Derpy asked. I held out my hand, and she put the muffin in it.
"Where do you get these?" I asked her, taking a bite. I sighed contentedly.
"Oh, all I had to do was... Wait... Sorry! Can't reveal that secret!" She told us.
I shrugged. "As long as we can get muffins, I'm OK with it." We neared the town hall, people cluttered nearby, where a sizable crowd was gathered.
"Wonder what's going on?" Gilda asked.
"Not sure." Tom said.
"The author says it's the huge crowd to hear the pronouncement of the F.U.P!" Derpy exclaimed.
"Not even gonna question it. Not even gonna question it. Just ignore it. Don't think about it." I muttered to myself as we approached the huge crowd.
"... And that it was a huge honor to be the leader of this town!" Chocolate Pie said. "Our new leader is here, it seems!" She noticed me. I walked up to where she was standing, and we switched places.
"Ladies and gents! While you may see this as a hostile takeover, it isn't. I did this, in fact, because I wanted to form... The Federation of United Planets!" I shouted. "Just thought of it on the ship coming down! Genius, right! Together, we will topple the tyranny that is Celestia and Luna! They have waged war too long! It is time to bring an end to it!" I could hear people whispering.. "Why should we be caught in the crossfire while they wage war? While they murder innocent people, changelings, and griffons? Take their fathers and mothers away from their children? Well I say no more!"
This time a cheer rang out. "I'm sick and tired of all this war, waged for no reason! Can anyone tell me why this war started? Because I sure as hell can't!"
"It started hundreds of years ago because Prince Blueblood insulted a Threstal!" Someone shouted out. "This all started because some idiot noble!"
"Do you see what I mean? A noble started this! Because of a simple insult, an intergalactic war was started!" I waited for everyone to settle down. "That is all!" I walked into the Town Hall.
"That... Was amazing." Chocolate Pie said, Gilda and To, nodding in agreement.
"The author is trying to think of a way to make you seem less of a Gary or Mary Sue!" Derpy said.
"Ignore it." I said.
"She's right." Chocolate Pie said. "Anyway, the town has a metal mine, ship yard, and farm."
I shook my head, sitting at the mayors desk. "Nope. Build another mine, and get an arms factory up. You'll need it. I would also suggest putting a military base... Here." I pointed at a mountain range. Inside the mountain. Easily defended, can withstand bombing, undetectable, and makes a pretty good fallout shelter, just in case. It's also not too far from here, which is another plus. How long would what I want planned take?"
"The buildings maybe a few days, courtesy of a science breakthrough, a device that only needs the blueprint and materials to build something. The mountain military base a few weeks if we start tomorrow." Chocolate Pie told me.
"Send out the orders. I want this town to be working until we are at tip top condition. I would also suggest another ranch and orchard." I said.
"Understood sir. Will that be all?" She asked.
"Get the ships captains we captured earlier in here. Then that's it." I told her. She nodded and called whoever was holding them.
On there way now."
I nodded, then got ready for my day to go bad. As soon as the seven captains walked in, I sighed. They had that look of confidence, that look that said, 'I'm invincible! I can do anything!'
"You all know why you're here. So what will happen to you? You can't go back to the Republic, and the Empire is a huge no." I told them.
"Outrageous! I demand to go back! There is no reason for me to be here besides idiotic battle plans by him!" He pointed at Dan.
"I don't think so. I've known Dan. He wouldn't have been so stupid as to place everything he had in the front, where the battle was. He learned that the hard way." I could see steam coming from the officers ears. "In fact, you're the commanding officer, correct? You have the highest rank, Admiral." I smirked.
"How dare you! First, you capture me, make me come down so the commoners can laugh at me, then you say it was my fault!" The man roared. "I will not stand for this!" He pulled out a pistol he had hidden in a secret compartment in his jacket.
Before he could do anything else, over twenty red dots were aimed at his head and face, my M-4 was pointed at his groin, and Gilda, Derpy, and Tom all had their guns aimed at him. "I would drop the weapon now. That is, unless you want your chest and head to be disintegrated." I had won, and he knew it.
Nodding, I sat back down. "Now, lets get down to business, gents." The lady officer glared at me. "And lady."
