The border between Equestria and the Griffon Kingdom has never been particularly... secure. After a moment of insecurity leads to that kingdom declaring war on the pony nation, best pony Rainbow Dash is sent to said war as a combat flier for the Air Force. After a gruesome battle that leaves her and her commander heavily wounded, the two end up grounded- behind enemy lines, and have to work together to get home and end the war.
