Chapter 1: Breached

As far as ponies go I’m not the most social well I’ve become this way living in the world where ponies kill each other for scraps of food, but I digress. This is my story, but I fear it is coming to a close. At the moment I’m hiding in a closet bleeding out with people looking for me and when they find me they will kill me. Let me get you up to speed on my journey.

Firstly my name is Silverdawn, I’m a dark grey unicorn with a curly coal black mane and tail with light blue eyes. My cutie mark is two swords crossed over for my talent in fighting with weapons. I live in a town called Apple Loosa with my family, Holly my mother, Lance my father, and Stargazer my little sister.

“Wake up Silver,” my sister said shouting, before pushing me off my bed.

I landed hard on my back hitting the wooden floor, “Did you really have to do that.” I groaning, rolling to my feet standing up one hoof at a time.

“You didn’t wake up after my other attempts so this was my last resort.” She said leaving the room, “By the way if you don’t get downstairs fast enough, Dads gonna eat your food.”

“I’ll be right down.”

I move over to a chair I had left some clothes the night before and picked them up with my magic. As I yawned I slowly pulled my tethered red t-shirt over my head and placed my front legs through the holes for them. I moved over to my sink and splashed my face with water to wake up fully.

I leave the room and stumbled on the steps nearly falling down, but regained my balance with the side railing. I stepped in the kitchen seeing them there. My mother with her red mane and tail, grassy green fur and horn, her caring blue eyes, and her cutie mark which is a bundle of herbs because she work with herbs making herbal medicine. My father who I take after most after, with his Black mane and tail, grey fur and hazel brown eyes, his cutie mark is of a dagger because as you could guess he is good with weapons. Finally, my sister with her red mane and tail with a black stripe in it, lime green fur and horn, brown eyes, and her cutie mark was of a plus sign because she was good with anything to do with healing, from making potions to fixing bones with her magic.

We had a small kitchen, but we had enough space there. We have a wooden table, oven, sink, fridge, and a radio that had music playing nearly all day because of DJ-Pon3, that’s all we ever needed.

“Your finally up, I kept your food in the oven, so your father wouldn’t eat it,” my mother said smiling.

“Thanks,” I said walking over to the oven picking up the food out eying the food “Yum, hay fries and a toasted daisy and apple sandwich. Looks good.”

I walk over to the table and take a big bite out of the sandwich before eating a few of the hay fries. I finished the sandwich and hay fries and went to wash my face.

While in the middle a loud blaring noise could be hear from outside followed by the words, “Raiders are trying to get in all able-body stallions pre-pare for battle.”

Me and my father looked at each other for a split second before speeding up the stairs to our rooms. I flung the doors of my closet open revealing an armored suit, two swords and a lever action rifle with a box of ammo for it. I quickly pulled on the top half of the amour, followed by the bottom half and helmet. I attacked the swords to the sides of the amour and placed the rifle on my back. This was going to be the first time I had to kill a pony, but not the last.

I hurried back down to see my father ready outside saying goodbyes and after I said mine we left for the gate. We saw the gate shaking from the attacks of the raiders and some their Pegasus flying over the wall, but taken out fast. Me and my father ran straight for the gate to help the others keep it closed bashing against it.

“Oh shit,” one of the ponies on the wall said, “Run they have a missile launcher.”

Hearing this we all ran as fast as we could the gate was blown to pieces flying and landing on some of the ponies. Most were dead and the ones who survived wish they were dead. When I turned to see all that had happened I saw the blood seeping into the grown and pieces of flesh from corpses and some of the unfortunate living. I watched as one of the raiders ran at me with a sledge hammer, and after seeing what they caused I was enraged. I used my horn to levitate out my swords that slashed at the raider who didn’t expect me to react so fast, his face was turned into four chunks of flesh. The raider slumped to the ground dead this was the first pony I ever killed I thought to myself. I saw more raiders coming at me so I put that last on my to-do list. Running at the raiders I cut the first one’s head off with it falling to the ground in a bloody mess, next ones leg hearing its screams and the last l stabbed in the chest followed by stabbing it in the back of the head finishing it off. The second one was still screaming on the ground clutching where I had cut off its leg. I walked over to it putting away my swords and levitating over a hand gun off the ground placing it at the side of their head. It turned to face me crying begging for me to finish them like I did to their friend. I slowly moved the trigger until a shot was heard, and with that shot everything I just did.

I fell to the ground and put my face in my hooves, “What… what have I done.”

“Silver,” I hear a voice to my left say, “Silver help, me.”

I turn to see my father trapped under part of the gate and rush over to him, “Dad, what happened.”

“Don’t worry about me,” he said weakly before coughing up blood, “There’s no point I’m going to die no matter what you do. Now I have to tell you something, under the couch. I was going to give you it when you are older. Now run home and get out of this town before it’s too late.”

“Dad I’m not leaving you hear,” I said trying to move the metal off him.

“Silver, don’t try if you want to help me shoot me,” he said the last two words were stuck in my head on replay only stopping when the noise of something metal hitting the floor.

I glance down at the ground where the noise came from my father’s colt that was in our family for years. I levitated it up and placed it to his left temple and pulled the trigger. With this I turned and ran back to the house holding back tears. Nearing my house, I hear screaming coming ahead I run towards it seeing my house on fire and my sister being dragged behind two raiders and I’m not going to let her die.

I ran over levitating out my rifle slamming the stock into the first raiders knocking him over. I aimed the rifle at the other one and took too shots the first hit his shoulder, and the second lodging in his skull. Returning to the first who had stood up and ready his revolver in his mouth and took two shoots off the first missing and the second hitting my leg, but only denting my amour. I winced in pain trying not to fall and getting off a shot that hit him in the chest sending to him the ground.

“Star are you ok?” I say helping her up.

“I’m fine, but mom is still inside.”

“WHAT!”

I turn and smash down the door covering my mouth from the smoke. I gallop around the house looking for my mother, till I found a burnt up body upstairs. The body was my mother’s there was no pony else it could be, I could always remember what she looked like, the one thing that stood out was her hair still red, but now red with blood. I didn’t want to keep looking, but I couldn’t even move. I felt a tear run down my cheek, no I have to be strong for Stargazer I thought to myself, shaking free of the grasp of sadness. I galloped downstairs now remembering what my father said as I entered the living room, I pushed the couch over moving the floor boards to see a large wooden box. I levitated it out before running back outside to fresh. After leaving I fell to the ground in a coughing fit from the smoke.

“Silver,” Star screamed as I hit the ground, she ran over, “What happened. Where’s mom.”

“I’m couldn't,” trying to speak more, but it came out in coughs only.

She knew what I meant and I could see the tears filling her eyes. I sat up and hugged her to give her time to cry. We sat there for half an hour in a silent before I spoke.

“We should leave,” I said.

“Can’t we stay for a bit more,” she replied sniffling

.

“We have to leave or we will be killed.”

“But… but…” she sighed “Ok, but shouldn’t we check what’s in the box first.”

I look over to the box I completely forgot about it. I levitated the box off the ground and brought it over to us. I opened the box, and inside was a pair of hoof crafted swords and silver amour that had a crest on it of two swords crossed like my cutie mark.

“What the hell,” I said looking the amour over, “This looks brand new, did dad make this for me.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true. He was the black smith.”

“I’ll put this on now before we leave and you can take my amour it might not fit the best, but it will stop you from getting killed.”

I took off my amour giving my sister and put on the new amour. Placing the new swords on the sides on my amour and gave my sister the old ones and told her she didn’t have to kill anypony unless it’s an emergency. I gave her the revolver from the raider, the rifle, I kept the colt my dad gave me and my lever rifle.

“We should leave now, if you’re ready?” I asked.

“Sure.”

We walked to the exit me walking ahead of my sister. Nearing the gate I getting a flashback of all the gore that happened, first the mass killing of the other ponies, what I had done and what happened to… I was standing still paralyzed I didn’t even realized it till my sister said something.

“What,” I said, shaking my head escaping my mind.

“I ask if you’re ok.”

“I’m fine. Could you cover your eyes there is something ahead I don’t want you to see.”

She did as I asked and I held her hoof guiding her to the gate or what was left of it. Seeing two raiders at the exit I whispered to Star to stay in a hiding space I led her too. I crept to the gate taking out my swords neither of them seeing me. Walking over to one I slashed and took of his head blood pouring out, but he stood still not falling to the ground for a few seconds. The other saw this and tried to scream, but I had her trough slit before a noise could be heard.

I galloped to Star grabbing her hoof again, but she opened her eyes when we were nearly at the gate to see all the bloodshed nearly falling to the ground. I picked her up with my magic to get her out fast.

When we were about 20 minutes away we had made it to an abandoned house where we decided to make camp.

This was the start of my journey, but nowhere near where I am today. I have much more to my story.
