Long Way From Hell
Chapter 3: Lamentation
Previous ChapterGone…
She’s gone…
My best friend, my sister…
I should have- I should have done SOMETHING!!
But what could I do? What was it that I could possibly do as the fire had burned away at her?
Fluttershy…
I wish I could say sorry but that isn’t going to bring you back now will it? Not even thinking about this as the glass bottle of everyone’s favorite way to drown their sorrows simply known as alcohol.
My name? Why would you want to hear such a pitiful excuse for a name? What type of name do I have if it means I am supposed to protect the ones I cherish? Can you tell me voices in my head?
….
Fine, my name is Rainbow ‘Excellra’ Dash, Excellra is actually ancient equestrian for the term ‘Loved Guardian’ which is fitting for me since I am usually the one to be there for my friends when they are down at their worst. Honestly it wouldn’t even need to be 10 seconds flat but a simple millisecond for me to be there.
But now I am nothing more then an excuse of a pony!
I yelled as I threw the bottle of liquor across the room, my ears were barely able to capture the sound of glass shattering against the wall. I was lucky to be able to keep this house free of charge, at least for the next 4 years; Fluttershy even in death her kindness knows no bounds. Case and point being how she had saved up a large fraction of her money for a place for us to own in the case that both of our houses had been destroyed so we wouldn’t have to live on the streets.
My vision was blurry as I stumbled into the bathroom, it almost didn’t feel right being here but Fluttershy wouldn’t leave me to die now would she? Wish that her punch on that flank-hole didn’t kill him so I could at least torture that jack-flank for information…
I should continue looking for Fluttershy right now, as much as I try to convince myself that she is dead for the past few months it still doesn’t seem to sink in.
I just can’t seem to shake the thought that she might be alive, even as I look at Luna’s night sky as I fly out of my own house. The stars shined as brightly as ever while I continued to simply push forward across the sky, it had hardly accured to me about how my eyes were going to even see Fluttershy while under the influence alongside the night’s dark shroud that was currently covering Equestria.
Time to stop and think I suppose.
“How am I going to find her?” The words coming out of my mouth weren’t as alien to me as one would assume, no those words were at this point very familiar to me. Fluttershy had dissapeareed about 3 months ago didn’t she? The the answer was obvious on what to do.
“Look for the most unexpected places Fluttershy wouldn’t think to go to? Alright here we go!” My mind made up, the place that was number 1 on my list was the Everfree Forest. Princess Luna knew very well that there wasn’t anyone besides Zecora whom lived their, and she knew that the zebra would eventually find Fluttershy if she ended up there but that didn’t mean I exactly trusted that alchemist word.
The more I had thought about Zecora and the forest that same zebra had mentioned a cursed castle that came out of nowhere every blood moon, the time in which a great tragedy had unfolded almost 1,000 years ago right here in equestria. Fluttershy used to talk about it whenever she was reading those old history books….
It definitely means that I have to try and look into it at least.
All in all it wasn’t that har to find the old castle, my time spent playing hide and seek with Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie really helped me since the Everfree Forest has been known too have inhabitants that are dangerous to ponies everywhere.
The problem was the fact that flying in the forest was a horrible idea due to the pure wind pressure that was unnaturaly weak, the weaker the pressure the harder it is to fly sounds weird I know but that is how life here works so who are we to judge?
The loud creaking of the…stone floor?
“How the buck does stone creak?” I asked out loud which echoed throughout the room castle gardern, least I think it’s a garden since there are a few statues that seem to be cracking probably due to the fact that statues need to have some attention to from someone so they won’t crack so fast.
Either that or I am way past drunk to the point I ain’t thinking clearly.
Unfortunetly for me the floor has suddenly collapsed beneath my feet, I couldn’t help but yelp as I fell down the hole and landed onto the ground face-first. Like I said low wind pressure equeals trouble, luckily for me being a pegasus means I crash into the ground on occasion so it isn’t really that suprising, though if I were an earth pony then the height would have damaged my legs greatly.
“Ok who stole the floor?” I had spoke out loud as I stood back up on my feet, it wasn’t anything new for me to start talking to myself. Guess that is why I am talking within my own mind, course that just means it is easier to think.
Wow I am starting to sound like Fluttershy, I need to watch myself around her from now on when she gets back.
I walked towards the walls trying to see if there was anything I could find a switch to this room. I know from the treasure hunter stories I read in my spare time that there is always a way out from these rooms, and it turns out I was right as soon as I felt my hand going right through a hole and pulled on something.
The room started to shift and blur, as if everything was a like a window with rain pouring down on it. And the scenereary seemed to be changing, almost as if there was a ancient spell that was meant to confuse anyone who wandered into this place.
Unfrotunetly it landed me right inside a very large library, one that didn’t have any doors at all as far as I could tell anyways. But the library really felt like it was from one of the old equestria days, and the torn down flags around this whole library really took the cake; sadly due to the fact that the room has no doors and the window is most likely protected by magic seeing on how it isn’t cracked from age yet that meant the only way out was too read.
“Well, Buck”
