"Luna. Please speak to me."

"You want to change me. Ponies hate my silken night but relish your shining day. 'Oh Celestia! You're the only one we ever see! Princess Luna is stupid! All she can raise is the moon!' You know what, Celestia?! I'M PUTTING AN END TO THIS! I'M SICK OF THOSE B-"

"Luna. Some ponies adore your night."

"Oh don't start it, sister! You KNOW they cherish your bright, glimmering sun but hate my opal moon."

A young Celestia bit her lip. Ponies DID enjoy her day better than my night.

I had known this all along.

The door flung open. The white alicorn filly looked up. She backed up, her light pink mane being smashed against the alabaster walls.

"Luna! Sister! Calm  yourself!"

A gargantuan mare stood before her.

It was me.

My coat was as black as the night itself, and just barely blacker. My mane was laced with nightmares and terror. A silvery-blue helmet clasped tightly around my ears.

"YOU WANT THE WEAK LUNA!! THE LUNA THAT FALLS TO YOUR EVERY WHIM AND WILL!!" My voice was thick with horror. I lowered my voice to an ominous growl as tears started to brim the shaking filly beneath me."You know what I think of that Luna?" I used her magic to constrict the trembling Celestia around her small neck.

I don't know what overtook me. It was a tiny nagging in the corner of my mind.

"Hkgh... L-Luna... Krahkc.... Ple-ease d-don't... KHARCH! DO THIS!" She choked on her words.

"Pitiful Foal. MY NAME IS NO LONGER LUNA!! YOU SHALL ADDRESS ME AS NIGHTMARE MOON!! I SHALL WREAK HAVOC ON YOU SIMPLETON PONY FOLK FOR A THOUSAND YEARS!" I thought this had scarred her enough, but something inside me ached to make her scream.

"Oh Celelstia," I mocked, slamming her onto the floor. "don't you wish I would be docile? Be kind? Merely a pony again? HAH! Don't make me laugh, foal. Send me to the moon. I don't care. Send me off to another universe where apes walk on two legs and talk!"

"I-if that's w-what you w-w-want, then f-fine." Her horn shimmered. It gleamed with a thousand shards of sunlight.

I'll be honest.

It blinded me.

Made my eyes burn.

But I couldn't back down now.

No, she would never forgive me.
