The air blew gently over Rainbow Dash's wings as she flew through the air. She sighed as she felt the warm rays of the summer sun on her back, making her flight all the more enjoyable. However, a grin plastered on her face as she heard the giggling of the filly above her.
Scootaloo scanned the skies around them, her small wings buzzing in joy as she hovered above her idol and sister, albeit she was being held above Rainbow. The filly leaned in time with Rainbow, her wings rotating as hers did, the two in sync as they soared through the air.
The filly turned her head torward the scenery around them. She was amazed that such a beautiful place such as Rainbow Falls even existed, rainbow streams and waterfalls looking just as natural and common in the area as water was anywhere else. The entire field had a aura around it that made her heart soar and gave her the need to fly through the falls as if it were nothing.
Sensing her wishes, Dash grinned as she abruptly changed their course and brought Scootaloo under her, into a more secure position. The filly yelped in surprise and was about to ask why she was moved when she saw their destination.
She let out a loud laugh as the two of them barreled through one of the falls, sending bits of rainbow in lall directions, including the four ponies watching from below. A certain fashionista was quick to pull out an umbrella from nowhere just in time as the drops of rainbow hit them.
Scootaloo squealed in joy as they raced through the sky, the feeling of the air rushing past her a long forgotten memory brought back with a smile. Rainbow couldn't help but smile down at the filly, watching the expression of pure joy and amazement. It made her feel proud to have taken the spot of being the filly's older sister, always there to protect her.
She frowned as another thought crossed her mind. What does an older sister do? She looked down in time to see the others already setting up the picnic. She banked down towards them, deciding to ask Applejack and Rarity about it later.
Scootaloo let out a disappointed whine as they landed by the others. "Can't we fly for just a little while longer, Rainbow Dash?" asked the filly with a pout. It took everything in her will not to pick up the filly and take her back into the skies.
"Tell you what, when we head back home, I will take you back to the next campsite, deal?" Rainbow watched as the filly's frown turned into a massive grin, her tiny wings buzzing with excitement at the idea.
"Deal!" she shouted before running after her friends. Rainbow chuckled as she trotted over to Applejack and Rarity, the two mares setting up the picnic area. The farmpony looked up from her work with a smirk.
"It almost seemed like ya didn't want ta come down there, RD," said Applejack as Rainbow came over. The cyan Pegasus shook her head.
"I think that was the first time the little squirt was actually in the air for more than a few seconds before falling. I didn't want to remove her from that," She sighed. "Doesn't help that I dont know what to do with this whole 'older sister' thing. I was an only child."
"Being an older sibling isn't something you teach, Rainbow dear, it is something you learn to do," said Rarity with a small smile, "Heavens know I had no clue how to be Sweetie Belle's older sibling, but I learned how over time."
"She's right, Rainbow, you can't expect ta know what to do right away with younger siblins'," agreed Applejack with a nod before she went back to setting the placements.
Rainbow Dash was about to answer when the three fillies came running back over to the group. "Rainbow Dash! We found this huge pool filled with rainbow water! Can we go swim in it?" asked the filly, hopping up and down in excitement. Applejack chuckled at the three balls of energy.
"Sorry girls, we are about ta dish up lunch. But Ah see no harm in lettin ya'll go swimming after. What says you, Rares?" asked the farmer. The fashionista let out a thoughtful hum.
"I suppose we could use a little swim before we head back. Oh, but I think I wil refrain from getting in the water. Rainbow must be terrible to get out of one's mane." said Rarity with dramatic air.
"Rainbow is just like actual water, just more colorful. You just need a towel to dry it off," said Rainbow with a shrug. "Now let's hurry up and eat!"
There was a chorus of cheers as the three fillies immediatly took up places around the picnic blanket, patiently waiting for their food. Applejack blinked before smirking at her. "Won't be a good sister mah hoof."
"Oh shut up and dish out the food." said Rainbow with a roll of her eyes as she took a seat next to Scootaloo, the filly slowly scooting closer to the cyan mare. Rainbow saw this and pulled her closer with a wing, causing the filly to let out a yelp and blush deeply.
Lunch was rather uneventful. It was filled with idle chat as the six of them filled their stomachs. Rainbow was more detached than usual as she tried to figure out how exactly she should 'bond' with her new sister. It wasn't exactly an easy thing to do when you never had a sister yourself, it also didn't help that one was flightless at the moment.
She listed off the things that she could do that not only would Scootaloo enjoy, but would bring them closer. She looked down at the blushing filly under her wing, idly eating a daisy sandwhich as she stared off into space. She tightened her grip slightly, earning a yelp and an even deeper blush from the orange pegasus. Rainbow grinned as she came up with an idea. But there was one question, how would she get the others to wear the ear plugs?
The sun was setting by the time the others made it to the campsite they had set up. Rainbow saw a group of four coming up the path, sighing as she reluctantly came in for a landing. There was a disappointed whine as she came for a landing.
"Can't we fly for just a little longer, Rainbow Dash?" asked Scootaloo as she slid off Rainbow's back. The older mare bit her lip as she looked away from the sight of the pouting filly.
"Sorry squirt, we have to set up camp. We'll fly more tomorrow." Sweet Celestia, she hated saying no to that face. Scootaloo gave a defeated sigh as she went to go to meet up with the rest of her friends.
Rainbow Dash looked anxiously up at the sky. Trying to gauge the time until she could start her bonding time with Scootaloo. It wasn't the most legal bonding time, but it was still good for what she had in mind.
The next half hour was spent starting the fire. They were at the edge so dead wood was not as common as it was further in, making it harder to get the fire going and stay going. The rest of the night after that was simply spent in moderate silence, the group calming down after an eventful day at the falls.
Again, Rainbow sat right next to Scootaloo, her wing around the filly. As before, the filly blushed with a quiet yelp and barely said anything the rest of the night. The older mare grinned at the display, her theory being proven right. She was even more sure that her plans for tonight would be perfect for the filly.
"Alright, Ah think it is 'bout time we call it a night," said Applejack, standing up. As the others started getting up, Rainbow Dash was quick to reach into her bag and pull out a small bag.
"You guys might want to put these on tonight." said Rainbow, holding out the bag. Applejack reached in and pulled out a smaller baggy with little green marshmallow like objects inside.
"Ear plugs?" asked the farm pony with an unimpressed look.
"I snore."
"You haven't the past few nights."
"That's because I....uh....leave! Yeah, I leave so you guys don't have to listen to me snore, but tonight I want to sleep with my lil sis." said Rainbow with a wide grin. Heh, I'll be sleeping with her alright.
Applejack gave the mare a suspicious look before sighing, tearing open the bag. "Well, Ah guess its a good reason as any." The orange mare started handing the packets out to the others.
"What about me, Dash? Should I take a pair?" asked Scootaloo, looking up her idol.
"Um....nah, I have a pair forgot in the tent." said Rainbow, shifting a bit. She watched as the others began to walk over to their respective tents, each putting in their ear plugs. She let out a sigh as she followed after Scootaloo, the filly already having made it in the tent.
When she got inside, she found the filly looking around the tent, under pillows and sleeping bags. "Uh, Dash? Where are my ear plugs?" asked Scootaloo, looking up at her with a confused look. Rainbow Dash chuckled as she zipped shut the tent.
"I made the whole 'snoring' thing up so they wouldn't hear us while we....play a special game." said Dash with a smirk. Scootaloo's ears perked up, her wings buzzing.
"Really? What is it?!" The filly bounced up and down in place. Rainbow chuckled as she dimmed the lantern, picking the filly up and placing her on her back.
"Has your teacher taught you about sex yet?" asked the older mare quietly, silently preparing herself.
