Shine on You! Crazy Diamond
A Cruel Month
Load Full StoryThe unpaved roads of Ponyville had the tendency to turn into pigsties in the heavy rain, with plenty of ponies to wallow in it. Diamond Tiara looked outside the comfort of her carriage with respectful pity at the ones who were less fortunate. A stallion in despair over his flipped over cart. She guessed that the several small bulges in the muck around the cart were probably vegetables the cart held, which were now held submerged in the mud. A filly heading to school sunk to her neck in the mud while balancing her school books on her muzzle. Her brown coat complimented what she was submerged in, and for a half second as Diamond looked out she swore it was a sludge monster carrying those books.
"Idiots. Complete Idiots." Diamond wasn't talking about the commoners. It was a well known fact the PVWT (Ponyville Volunteer Weather Team) were rather incompetent ever since Rainbow Dash and a few other noteworthy pegasi left for greener pastures. This was not just an opinion the ponies literally underneath their jurisdiction held to. Weather teams loved gossip, and a good portion of it was some rumor or exaggerated story about the PVWT's latest failure. Today's new hot topic was how they were flooding their own town all because of a nursery rhyme. One they turned into a stupid superstition.
"April showers bring May flowers..." Diamond adjusted the knot in her tie to look a little more casual. Then tightened it up again with a huff. Just a stupid habit from her not-so-stupid Father. She never watched him put on the tie much, but she still felt like whenever she wore it now somehow her father's old quirks were coming back to haunt her. Maybe it was punishment for not burying it with him? It was not in his will, how could she know? It was a good tie too. It didn't deserve to go waste rotting in the ground.
