It's been a long time since I took the left road home.

My name is Daylight Moon. You probably are thinking "why are you called Daylight Moon that name makes no sense!". You're probably right. I even have no clue what my name is supposed to mean.
Even worse, the fact that I'm a unicorn doesn't help.
Again, you might be thinking, "how can being a unicorn not be good? You get to teleport and levitate and make things appear out of nowhere and things like that!"
Well, that would be great, except I have no magic talent. None at all. Can't even cast a single levitatation spell.
But, that's enough about me. Let's get to today.
I usually take the right road because the left road is where all the other students are and if you think the CMC get teased a lot, you should see me every single day. Not only am I a unicorn that can't use her magic, but I don't have a cutie mark either, and if you think that would get me anywhere, you'd be wrong.
But today I felt brave, so I took the left road.
Diamond Tiara, of course, happens to walk to me.
"Hey Sunlight, or whatever your name is. Why does your horn never work?" She sneers trying to look concerned.
"It's Daylight. And you don't need to ask me that every. Single. Day. I don't know why my horn doesn't work. Okay?"
"What-ever, blank flank."
And then she's gone. Good grief.
I open the doors to my home and find

Shattered glass and broken wood.
EVERYWHERE.
It looked like I was going to be the first pony to die by choking on glass or cutting herself or something. Even though I know I wouldn't be the first in this kind of city. I miss Fillydelphia, how small and kind and quiet and rural it was. People didn't care that I was a blank flank or that my magic didn't work...
But this is Ponyville now. No more of that, my mother would say. Ponyville is wonderful and you are wonderful. A perfect match.
My mother shares the same caremel coat as me. Her mane is a beautiful nutmeg that falls over her shoulders like oozing chocolate sauce on a rasberry sundae. Her cutie mark is a rasberry sun and her name is Sunlight Glow. A lot of people get me mixed up for my mom sometimes(not Diamond Tiara though, she did that to make me mad.). She is so sweet and beautiful and... perfect. She was originally a teacher at a Fillydelphia school. Now she works at an orphanage.
My dad though, Moonstar Bright shares my mane color, a rusty silver with hints of gold , and his coat is a dark maroon. His cutie mark was a silver full moon complete with gold stars. He is a bit strict, but he has a warm heart under that metal suit of armor. He's a night guard.
We were a very clean and quiet family, so glass and wood bits all over is a bit unsettling.
"Mom? Why is it all...?"
Mother came over at the name "mom" using a quick teleportation spell. Her horn was alit in a beautiful golden glow.
"Ah! Daylight! You're home! The mess? Well, I don't know how it happened but..." she brought her silky voice to a quiet Fluttershy-tone whisper; "I was cleaning when a strange light grey pony with yellow ditzy eyes flew in. She broke the window. But she apoligized and said she'd buy me a new stain glass window. Then she gave me a letter and flew off."
