Song Of Light And Dark The Blade Chiaroscuro
The glow of flames illuminated the forge, as the auditory sensation of metal being worked filled the room. One could hear chanting and weeping as the blade was cooled and heated aging, as the moon light entered through a window above the forge. Each hit of the hammer made the sword glow with a blue aura. The smith a unicorn, whose fur was gray, her mane and tail black and her cutie mark was a great hammer, her eyes glowed blue like the blade.
After a few more times of heating the blade and cooling it, the smith started to engrave ancient runes onto the sword. The blade seemed to glowing brighter with each rune engraved upon it. As the rune was made, a powerful, blinding light filled the room. Once the light had past, the smith held the blade high, as the light from the moon seemed to dance around.
The sword glowed a gentle, low illumination, as the light from the forge reflected off the silver blade. The hilt of the blade was made of ivory, it had one large pearl embedded in the pommel of the hilt. Two silver phoenix decorated the cross guard of the hilt. The smith smiled at her hoof work, this was her greatest and powerful weapon she, or anypony had ever forged.
Two great doors swung open, as light from the hall illuminated the room, revealing many unicorns wearing robes with their heads bent. A unicorn entered the room whose fur was dark brown his mane and tail were teal, and he wore robes of white and gold. His long beard touched the floor as he walked, and his eyes held great wisdom.
“You have done well Blue Valor.” The unicorn who had entered the room said, as he inspected the blade.”But let us hope this blade never falls into the wrong hooves, for it could begin a reign of evil unheard of in the history of pony kind.”
Blue Valor placed the blade gently on the anvil.”Yes, but in the right hooves it will destroy evil and bring peace, and the blade is called Chiaroscuro. But we should hide it until the time come when it is needed.” Blue Valor said.
“Yes and we will, for I have seen a great darkness that will come upon this world one day, when I know not. But we will guard this blade and watch for the one meant to wield it.” The dark brown unicorn said.
“Good, but if you don’t mind ,I’ll take my leave for now since I need to rest.” Blue Valor said, with a yawn.
“Very well, we talk more about it when you awake.” The dark brown unicorn said. As Blue Valor started walking to the doors.

Rainbow Dash laid lazily on a cloud, as she enjoyed the sun’s warmth. In the distance the birds sing their songs, as fillies and colts played games of all kinds. Rainbow Dash was slowly drifting off to sleep as clouds moved lazily overhead. It had been a normal day for Rainbow Dash, and a little boring. Twilight had been standing old pony tells, Applejack and Big Mac were hard at work. Fluttershy and Rarity were at the spa, and Pinkie Celestia only knows what she up to.
It was then Rainbow Dash felt like somepony or something was watching her, with cold uncaring eyes. It made her open her eyes and look around, but all she found was foals play near by and the green glass under her. Then she looked around the skies trying to see if anypony was up there, but not a soul.
Great I’m acting paranoid like Twilight does from time to time. Rainbow Dash laided back down on the cloud, but couldn’t throw off the feeling of being observed. Rainbow Dash found she was becoming more nervous every second she layed there. Maybe Twilight or Applejack would like some help, Not that I nervous or anything.
Rainbow Dash leaped of the cloud and flew towards Sweet Apple Acres, looking over her shoulder from time to time. Her heart started to race as a cold shiver ran down her spine, which made her fly faster. The unseen forces seemed to follow her no matter how fast she went. Rainbow Dash then tried flying every which way, just so the sensation would stop.
Rainbow Dash felt some relief when she saw Sweet Apple Acres come into view, but the malevolent remanded. What is wrong with me today there is nopony or anything following me, but then why does it feel like there is. Rainbow Dash passed over one of the orchard, she looked down hoping to see Applejack or Big Mac working.
To her dismay see don’t see earth of them. Please be at the barn or farmhouse. Rainbow Dash flew quicker and faster as she looked for any member of the Apple Family. She reached the barn and found not one soul in sight, so she made for the farmhouse. She reached the farmhouse, but nopony was home, which made her blot for Twilight’s library.
Then, without worrying the fear overtook her, freezing her in mid flight. Her wing snapped closed and she started falling, unable to think or move, only able to look on as the ground glow closer. She closed her her as the rocky ground below was a few feet away. She prepared for the her painful end, as the images of her friends, finding her body bloody and broken upon the rocks ran through her mind.
She then felt not the pain of that she was expecting but of being lifted into the air. The feel of the wind as somepony carried her through the skies but she could not open her eyes. It was as if she was Fluttershy fearing to open her eyes as a dragon or some other monster came closer, it breath right in her face, as it’s opens it powerful jaws revealing rolls of sharp teeth.
Then came the feeling of being laid on the ground came, as voices spoke to one another. One was deep most likely a stallion, the other a mare, who sounded out of breath. Then Rainbow Dash felt herself lifted as some thing is placed around her neck. The fear slow fades and a feeling of a sweet relief came. Rainbow then opened her eyes and looked up to find two ponies.
One a brown unicorn with a teal mane and tail, his cutie mark was a sword and quill and his clear blue eyes did not break off any notion of caring at all.. The other a night black pegasus with a white mane and tail, her cutie mark a shield with a tree upon it. Her eyes emerald green and unlike the unicorn show worry.
Then Rainbow Dash looked to see what they had placed around her neck. It was a steel necklace, that had strange things engraved upon it. There was a golden dragon in the center of it, in the dragon claw was a sword.
“This is what we have to work with great, this mission just keeps getting better doesn’t it.” The brown unicorn said, as he looked to his company.” Could the seer have been wrong?”
“Well, it could be worse it could had been that mare who kept referring to herself as the Great And Powerful Trixie, or that little stuck up filly who we past in that town.” The night black mare said.
“Yes, very true, but it could have been, somepony like that farm mare in town or her brother or how about one of those alicorns I bet they would destroy the great darkness. This mare on the other hoof is going to need training on the way back to Highever and a lot of it.” The blown unicorn said.
Rainbow Dash ready herself to blot as she didn’t plan to go anywhere with these ponies, she was grateful that they saved her life.”Wait a minute pal, first I’ll thank your um… friend here, but I’m not going anywhere with either of you.” Rainbow Dash said, as she turned to fly away. To her dismay the unicorn had her encased in a silver aura.
Rainbow Dash then felt herself starting to drifted off to sleep. Can’t sleep must get away. As staged to get free, but her leg,wing and eyes started to become heavier, she open her mouth to say something but found she was too tired to.
“Don’t worry Nightwind I’ll carry her till night fall, by then she may be less fearful.” The brown unicorn said, with a sigh.
“I hope your right, Golden Valor.” Nightwind said. As Rainbow Dash’s world went black.

A few thousand miles away, upon a high mountain, surrounded by a forest so dark that no light can escape them. The beasts within the forest are as dark hearted as were they make their homes, only liveing so they may feed upon anything or anypony foolish to enter.
If one should make it past the forest and the beasts within and make it to the top of the mountain they would be met with a fortress, that was built to inspire dread. Its walls had jagged metal spikes running up their sides, a gate made of black steel, and guarded by unicorns clad in blood red armor. Their eyes cold and hard ready to kill any who dare to stumble upon this forbidden place.
Inside the fortress Blue Valor sat upon on her haunches looking over the blade she had forged so long ago. Chiaroscuro floated in the center of the room, giving off a soft blue light. It seemed to hum as it awaits it's wielder. Blue Valor let out a breath.” Please by all things holy, let Golden Valor be safe on his mission.” Blue Valor muttered.
It should have been my duty to find the wielder of this cursed blade, not my little colt. A tear drop hits the floor, as blue Valor becomes lost in thought. First Chiaroscuro cursed us with long lives filled with darkness, then bless us with great heath. Then we had to stop power hungerly ponies,dragon and griffons. Yet the seer said that the three great darkness will come upon this world before the greatest of them all.
Then he tells me that my son or myself will aid the two of the great darkness, maybe even both of us. The seer even said that he would die before the first of the great darkness arrives upon this world. Blue Valor slammed a hoof down on the floor, is the great doors to the room opened.
Then the sound of hoof steps walking slowly up to Blue Valor made her turn to see who it was. She found the seer walking as his beard dragging along the floor.”You really need to cut that beard you know.” Blue Valor said.
“I do from time to time.” The seer said, as he sat down next to Blue Valor.”I have seen a darkness following Golden Valor, and Nightwind.”
“I see and I take it you won't always me to to go to them?” Blue Valor asked.
“They most faced it alone, there will also be one who changes from at will that may aid or harm them. They will met a fool and a warrior, and as fate has always loved fools he will help the chosen. But magic will try and stop them, if she succeeds darkness will destroy a city upon a mountain. If she doesn’t the city will be spared and that all I have seen for now.” The seer said.
“And of my son?” Blue Valor asked hopefully.
“I have seen many paths he may walk, as I've seen many you you could and may have walked. The future has yet to be written and if we play our hooves right we can change some of what I have seen.” The seer said.
