Tirek thrust his hand through Fluttershy's beating heart. She gave Discord one final teary look before gasping her last breath. Discord let out a cry of pain seeing his friends die. He knew he could of saved her if he still had his magic.
Tirek let out an evil laugh, that to most would sound like a roar. "Discord you truely are a fool if you belived you could stop me. In fact I will thank you for helping me destroy Your friends, by giving you death! " Discord tried to defend himself, but he knew he couldn't. He watched, as energy flared up between Tirek's horns, finally giving up. As the blast hit he realized he was the reason this all happend, so the pain of his betrayal filled him even more than the physical pain of the blast. Before his death though, things became different.
Discord was laughing at a picnic with his friend Fluttershy. Discord thought of how beautiful she looked as she poured him a glass of tea. "One sugar cube or two?" She asked him.
Discord had dazed off for a second before saying, "Three sugar cubes please. I want tea almost as sweet as you. " he knew his attempt at flirting was cheesy as hell, but whatever.
Fluttershy blushed at his response, but she didn't know what to do but squeak, "Okay, Mr. Discord." Discord laughed so hard at her response that soon he was rolling all over the ground. Fluttershy was angry for a while, but then she started to laugh along too.
Luna was happy to see that Discord's dream was now happy. For a while she was upset with Discord because of him taking advantage of her sister's generosity, but now she felt bad for the spirit of chaos. Of everyone effected by the events he was the worst, everyone else had a couple of nightmares and let it go, but Discord has had nightmares every night for almost two months. She saw times when he would burst into tears in his restless sleep, that was what shook Luna the most, watching the jokester cry. She had never seen him cry before, and almost every night when Discord's dreams got unpleasant she would change them.
If only things were that easy though, Discord had not left his home in Permany for nearly a month. No doubt he was guilty, but what could she, the princess of the night do about it. "Why, do ponies have to be so complicated! " she yelled at herself,but then she got an idea.
Luna appered outside of Discord's chaos manner. The place was huge, with mismatched architecture, and magical flying fish flying in front of it. Luna walked to the 20 foot tall door, and knocked on it. Luna waited for nearly 10 minutes, before discord answered with a frown on his face. "What do you want Princess Luna?" He said in a grumpy tone.
"Just to spend time with a friend, that's all. " she replied surprised at how he was acting. Discord gave a half hearted nod before pulling her inside.
"Would you like some tea? " Discord mumbled. Luna nodded her head, now she knew Discord needed help urgently. Not only was he not making his usual jokes, the inside of his place actually looked normal. Discord brought Luna to an inside garden set up for him and Fluttershy, which had two cups of steaming tea on it. After sitting down Luna broke the long silence.
"Discord I'm worried about you, we need to talk." Discord face suddenly became full of anger.
"If that is what you want to talk about, please leave? I am a monster who deserves no sympathy."
As he said his last sentence he burst into tears, moaning in agony. Luna was almost in tears herself at his display of sadness. "I was friends with her, I had tea parties with her, I held her hoove, I helped her animals, and I loved her. I betrayed her though, and even though she said she forgave me, I know, I don't deserve friends. I am, and always will be a monster." Luna hugged him hard, and started to pat the back of his head as he sobbed into her maine.
After a minute she let him go and said, "Discord you are not a monster, you just made a big mistake. Now I know that if you want to feel better you must do what you have never done before, embrace the magic of friendship. " Discord looked at her with curious eyes. " I have arranged for you to stay with each of the elements and learn how they work. Please Discord, agree to work with me for yourself, and for Fluttershy." He looked surprised for awhile before responding with some confidence in his voice.
" Okay, princess I will stay with the elements, and do what they say, if you think it will help me. But why are you helping me?" He asked, because he and Luna had never really seen eye to eye. Luna smilled at Discord before responding.
"I want to help because I was in your position once, but my friends taught me how to embrace the magic of friendship. " Discord giggled at how cheesy that sounded, but now he had been lifted out of the dumps.
"Discord I will talk with Applejack to see if she will let you stay with her. I think you should learn about honesty first before anything else. If things go well I will tell you." Luna teleported out of the room before Discord could say bye. That isn't what worried him though, how would he befriend 6 ponies he hurt twice now? One thing was for certain things were not going to be easy on Discord.
Luna teleported to the front door of the apple farm. Luna took a moment to look at her surroundings before knocking. She saw trees all around full of apples of many kind, glistening with color like a painted picture, and the aroma of ripe apples filled her nose. For that one moment she was in bliss, but then she remembered the reason she was there.
Luna rapped he hoove on the door three times, hearing it's deep echo resonate through the old house. After a moment a familiar pony with orange fur opened the door to let Luna in. Luna was taken aback by Applejack's maine, which was messy, and had the symptoms of bed head.
If Luna was surprised by appearance, Applejack was surprised by the pony at the door. It was not that she didn't like her, it was just rare that Luna ever visit her. Applejack broke the silence saying, "Why don't y'all come in? "
Luna expression changed from a surprised one to a happy one, "Yes, I would love to come in, in fact I came to talk, if you don't mind?"
"Ofcourse we can talk, why would y'all think I wouldn't be happy to see an old friend." Applejack said with a teasing smile. She then waved Luna inside her farm house.
Luna was surprised at how neat and comfy the place looked, and as she followed AJ to what seemed to be the kitchen she saw photos of the apple family going generations back. Luna said with Sincerety, "Wow, you keep this place nicer then we keep the castle."
AJ chuckled before explaining Luna the ways of the apple family, "Nah, princess, it isn't as nice as y'alls palace, but here everything has significance. Our family works hard fo even the simplest of items. Luna nodded, she never really thought so much about how other none royal ponies lived, until now.
Once they've arrived in the apple scented kitchen, applejack sat Luna down in the biggest chair she had. "So, princess what y'all come ta talk to me about? " AJ asked trying to contain her curiosity.
Luna became serious for what she had to say. "I'm here to talk about Discord. " AJ cringed at the name at wich she was just told.
"Why, should we talk about that varmot, he is as bad as scum. " lunar was shocked at AJ, she had hoped AJ would have calmed down after the Terik incident, but she still seemed as mad as the moment Discord betrayed Fluttershy.
"Discord is in more pain then I've ever seen him in, he might be on the virge of destroying himself. " AJ noticed how serious Luna was, when she said that, but it didn't make any sense. When she last saw Discord he was in a good mood, just after Tirek was defeated, why would things be different now?
Luna noticed the confusion on AJ's face, so she added, "Discord's pain comes in dreams, which every night of Fluttershy being murdered in someway. Discord after a couple of nights of these dreams realized just how severe the consequences for his actions could have been. I know you don't like Discord, but Ive seen him cry, and now he's stopped doing Chaos. Please help him learn the meaning of friendship, which can't exist without honesty.
Applejack sat in silence for a while, for a while, for there was a lot to take in. Finally she said with uncertainty, "Alright I will help Discord, but if he stays longer than a day, he has to sleep in the barn. Luna sighed in relief.
"Thank you Applejack." Luna said before disappearing to tell Discord the news.
Luna appeared in the middle of Discord's room. Discord gasped covering himself up, "Can't you at least knock Princess, I know you like me but not enough to see me naked." He said with a smirk. Luna was surprised he actually made a joke, he seemed to feel a bit better. Discord noticed Luna's obvious surprise. "Princess crying my eyes out seemed to make me feel better, I guess it was the fact I knew someone cared. Anyway did you speak with AJ about your idea?"
"Yes Discord, I did, and she said yes. Just please don't try to piss her off to much, she wasn't to happy with the idea as it is."
Discord gave a mysterious grin and said, "You know me?" He then snapped his fingers and disappeared.
"That's what I'm afraid of. " Luna stopped and thought, was Discord really worth it, and why did Discord have mood swings in such amount of times? Was he really sad? Luna gasped, "Why does chaos have to be so chaotic!?"
After a minute Luna broke into a fit of laughter. She calmed herself down, and reminded herself she had faith in Discord. Anyway she had 5 other ponies to talk to I better get going, she said to herself.
She lit her horn up and disappeared.
