Whispers
Chapter 1
Load Full Story"So, Twilight. How is it that you have a new castle for yourself?" Rarity inquired.
Twilight looked up from her food that she was eating and gulped down. "Oh, that. It's alright, I guess," Twilight said. "It's a little cold in there, but I think I can get used to it in due time."
Rarity nodded and took a bite of her food herself. It was a sunny day in Ponyville and the noon breeze kicked in, making a nice atmosphere just for lunch. The two sat outside of a restaurant, eating daffodil sandwiches and enjoying the nice weather. The suns rays bounced off of the looming castle that towered above the city. Rarity looked up at the castle and giggled.
"Heh heh, it must be nice that half the town gets a shady spot!"
"Har har. Very funny, Rarity," Twilight retorted.
Although she had to admit that it was pretty true. The castle wasn't as big as the castle in Canterlot, but it was sure ginormous, perhaps too big for the small town. While Twilight was grateful that she had a castle for her own, she didn't know what to do with it. It was a big space for herself and she didn't know where she could store anything. Also, the inside was big.
Extremely big.
Twilight has not even scratched the surface of navigating the long and big corridors, and she knew there was an underground section of the castle which she has not even began to explore. Twilight would have figured that Celestia would at least give her a map where everything was but alas she has not. Spike complained that he couldn't find his room half the time, and Twilight herself got lost in the castle's corridors.
"Liven up, Twilight! You have yourself your very own castle where you can make important decisions in the political world of Equestria! How could you not be happy?" Rarity questioned.
"Well, it's a pretty good castle and all, but it's a lot to take in. There is just so much to the castle that I fear I'll get trapped in it for eternity and never make my way out!" Twilight said. Rarity scoffed at the complaint.
"Twilight, you are being too modest! You will get used to it as time wears on," Rarity said.
"Yeah, I guess," Twilight muttered. "Hey, the weekend is coming. Do you want to do something? I don't have anything to do."
"Hm. Well I suppose if I finish some important orders that I got to do, I suppose we could arrange something," Rarity said. She widened her eyes and gasped as a thought entered her mind. "Hey, maybe we can get the girls and have a little get together at your castle!"
Twilight blinked a couple times. The thought didn't seem so bad and it might be a good idea to map out the rest of the castle and explore it's corridors. But what if somepony gets lost? What if somepony gets lost and we can't locate her? The whole thing seemed like a headache waiting to happen. But the positives outweighed the negatives at this point, and Twilight have not seen the girls ever since the battle with Tirek.
"Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. Besides, I haven't been able to navigate around the castle at all, so maybe if we had all the girls to explore it, it would make it easier for me to get around the castle," Twilight said. Rarity clapped her hooves together and jumped up in her seat.
"Eeh! This will be so much fun! Exploring the depths of your glorious castle! That sounds so great!" Rarity said. Twilight giggled a little.
Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
Twilight went to the throne room after a couple of moments of searching for it. The seven thrones, if you count Spike's little throne, stood in a circle formation each with their cutie marks implanted in stone. It looked marvelous as they shined like beacons from the light above. Twilight went over to her throne and sat in it. Her skin came in contact with it's cold stone surface and gave Twilight chills.
Twilight relaxed her neck and closed her eyes. She didn't mind the castle, but it didn't sit in with her stomach that it was her new home. While it was quite spacious, she liked the cramped feeling of the library just a little better. She loved to organize the books into nice dusted shelves and if she had the time she would take one down from the shelve and read it on her coffee table. It was a nice and enticing feeling, and she didn't feel it here in the cold castle.
This castle is just a house; it wasn't a home to her.
Suddenly she heard the echoing footsteps from outside of the throne room. Twilight tensed up and quickly opened her eyes, searching on the source of the noise. The sound grew closer and closer as Twilight braced herself.
The noise cutted a corner and poked through the doorway, revealing itself to be Twilight's assistant, Spike. Twilight sighed in relief and got up from her throne and went over to Spike.
"Hey, Twilight! What's up?" Spike greeted.
"Spike, you scared me for a moment!" Twilight said, distraught.
"Sorry, Twilight. I was just looking for you," Spike said.
"Really? Why were you looking for me?"
"Because I was a little scared. The corridors are just so dang big and dark! I just keep thinking that I'll get lost again!"
Twilight could relate to what Spike was saying. Twilight only had this castle for a couple of days, and she wasn't liking it one bit.
"Sometimes, I just wish we could go back to the treehouse again," Spike said. His head dropped down and he didn't look up. Twilight knelt down to his level and put her hoof on his shoulder.
"Spike, just because something is missing in your life, it doesn't mean we have to keep remembering about it. Sometimes it's good to just let go," Twilight said. Spike looked away, causing Twilight to sigh. "Look, I'm not really happy either, but we're going to have to make the best of it. It's hard to start over, but you just have to trust me and it will get better. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I guess," Spike muttered. He turned his back to Twilight and exited the throne room. As Spike left, Twilight had a sick feeling in her throat.
Twilight turned around sat back in the throne and made herself comfortable. She closed her eyes as burning droplets streaked down her face. She didn't want to hide it anymore.
She hated this castle. She just wanted her old treehouse back.
