War & Hoof was originally a Dungeons & Dragons campaign created for friends. The entire group was thrilled with the main antagonist "Shade" whom they chased all throughout Equestria and beyond.

Shade the the bastard son of King Sombra, the former king of the Crystal Empire. Having his memories stripped from him Shade is cast forth into a entirely different world 1000 years into the future. With only a simple journal Shade starts to put the pieces together of his lost past. Shade is witness to his fathers demise and on the kings deathbed informally inherits his fathers legacy. Now placed on the list of most wanted ponies in Equestria, Shade makes his way throughout the land and seeks out rumors of lost Lorekeeprs of ancient history. But soon Shade finds out that he is not alone on this quest, friends and enemies alike all seek the same answers he does.
