We all like to believe we are masters of our own fate. For the most part, everything that happens to us is in some way a result of whatever action or inaction we have done in the past. It makes sense after all, the universe in which we reside in is a chaotic mess of seemingly random occurrences. Of course this is not how the world of Equestria works, a neatly organized universe where everything happens for a reason.

I knew from the very moment I awoke in the Everfree forest that my sole purpose in this world would be to disrupt this organization. I was the variable, the one who should not have been. Even now I don't know where this sense came from,  maybe intuition, maybe a higher power, it didn't really matter in the end. I was on a grand mission, terrible, but grand all the same.

My journey began with a rude awakening. As if jolted by a bolt of electricity I snapped into consciousness, on my back, in what I later learned was the Everfree forest. What had struck me most odd, aside the fact that I was not supposed to be there, was the lack of any exhaustion I felt 'waking up'. It was as if I never was sleeping, an instantaneous transition from my world to theirs. After taking a moment to digest it all I stood from the ground and began to walk. With no clue as to where I was headed I walked, I knew that somehow it would all work out for me. It was the nature of this world after all, and as I emerged from the edge of the forest and the familiar view of Fluttershy's cottage came to view I knew it to be true. Everything here happens for a reason.

Much to my surprise Fluttershy did not react to me in fear as I had thought she would. It was with cautious curiosity that she had approached me with. From her garden she flew to me, slowly, stopping a few feet away. She stared at me for what seemed like ages, not a single sound came from her, and I eventually chose to break the silence.

"Hello" I spoke softly, not wanting to frighten her, and had given a little wave. She seemed to have been caught off guard by my ability to speak, but she walked closer to me anyways, a faint smile slowly growing on her lips.

"Hello there, I didn't know you could talk" Her voice was soothing, sweet, audible chocolate and every movement she made was graceful and enjoyable to watch. She walked right up to me, any cautious instinct she had before had melted away when I spoke. I was a little surprised by her size, the top of her head reaching the bottom of my stomach.

"My name is Fluttershy. I don't mean to sound rude but, I've never seen anything like you before"
