Prolouge: The Decision
Trixie was pacing back and forth through the caverns solemnly. The caverns in question were located directly beneath canterlot. After there recent discovery of them during a certain wedding fiasco, it was now used effectively as the slums the reason for this was simply out of necessity, the higher ups got more room to build shops that sell tiny cakes and coffee. Those who were poor got a better hiding place for their "dirty dealings". While none of this was official or forced and most of canterlots residents are unaware of the change, an unspoken agreement was made between both sides of the city. The lawmakers separated them by banning access to the caverns out of "danger" yet not enforcing this rule. This kept the well brought up out, and those less inclined to follow the law in. This created somewhat of a predicament for Trixie because, due to space constrants, Trixie could not get her caravan inside and was forced to leave it as her final possession (a family heirloom) outside, risking it from being stolen. After bartering her hat and cape for a few extra bits, She could no longer do showbuisness, Trixie had to sell everything she had just to get by.
Trixie looked to her flank and wondered why she got showbuisness in the firstplace, nobody liked her stupid act and it didn't pay well enough to keep her fed. What was the point of even living if she couldn't even do the very thing pasted to her flank for the rest of her life. Her talent was essentially useless, the very thing she was destined to do was all a lie and that was a crushing realization to Trixies psyche, despite that, the only outside appearance she revealed was a single tear sliding down her monotone face. Her pacing stopped, she looked around at everyone within the main cavern of the slums, everyone she could see had 'something' they were good at, even the beggars of the dirty slums, yet SHE was a complete an utter failure at the only thing she knew how to do. Trixies face turned from monotone to a scowl as rage swelled up inside of her. WHY HER!?!?, who was responsible for the loss of everything in her life. Was it Twilight Sparkle? The foolish coachpony caused her parents deaths? Princess Celestia herself???
For some reason, Trixie remembered her second encounter with Twilight Sparkle. She had wielded the very power of corruption itself and yet she apologized after Twilight humiliated her and took away her only chance of redemption! It was a spur of the moment back then but now that she had time to sort through her thoughts she knew exactly why she had apologized. It wasn't because of anything she did to Twilight or her friends, it was because she was sorry for herself for being such an utter fool. Trixies face returned to monotone with just a hint of sadness. The question remained, who was responsible? Trixie looked around the large cavern carefully and noticed a glint, not a physical glint but more of a spark in everyone she saw, it was more noticeable in some ponies than others and she had recognized it, it was corruption, she had tasted the power of pure corruption when using the alicorn amulet and because of that she now sensed, no matter how small, the corruption in everyone she saw, and yet, despite her desperate search of the cluster of makeshift stores and homes, everyone had corruption in them. The reason why she ended broke, in the slums, with no talent and nothing to her name was because everypony had corruption in them. This must have been why her life failed so completely to the point of near oblivion. Trixie wondered if terrible things happened to ponies other than her.
Trixie knew something now, Equestria wasn't governed by harmony, it was complete chaos. The powerful ruled over the weak and the only reason for this was because that was the way they were born. Celestia and Luna ruled because they were born and raised the strongest and yet Trixie had nothing, no friends, family, talent, money, power, or fame, all because of her upbringing and the worlds response to that. Worst of all, nopony would or even could do anything about it. Trixies face hardened as she came to a decision, she could either try to change everything for the better, or suffer the consequences of failure.
Either way it'll be quite the show.
