Twilight's Game

"Look out, AJ!" Rainbow Dash cried as she kicked a cloud directly over Applejack's head. "Watch it there, Rainbow." Applejack said, frowning, as her hat was zapped by a bolt of lightning. "Woops, sorry!" Rainbow Dash said, a hint of laughter in her voice. The cyan mare had been assigned to kick the clouds in Ponyville for the day, as they were coming in from the Everfree. Suddenly, they heard a bloodcurdling scream come from the center of town. "What in tarnation was that?!?!" Applejack said. "I don't know, but it sounded like Pinkie Pie!" Rainbow Dash said, clearly shocked by the terrible scream.

The two mares galloped into town and went right for Sugarcube Corner. There, Twilight Sparkle was sitting, an eerie grin stuck on her face. "Twilight, did you hear Pinkie yell?" Applejack asked. "And what's with the creepy grin?" Rainbow added, a little freaked out by their friend's unusual behavior. "Oh, nothing, girls!" Twilight sang, standing up. She trotted off, that grin still plastered on her face. Applejack and Rainbow Dash looked at each other, both of them a little suspicious. When they looked at where Twilight was sitting, they found nothing but a single chess piece, but something was off about this one: it was a regular piece, except with curly hair and a smile. "Hmm... this looks like Pinkie, Apple. See?" Rainbow said, showing Applejack the unusual game piece. "Do you think that Twilight could have done something to Pinkie?" Applejack said, a tinge of fear in her voice. Rainbow Dash started to look worried, but soon shook it off. "Nah, I bet it's just one of the Egghead's old jokes. What could she even do with it? Beat Pinkie at a game of chess?" Rainbow Dash chuckled. Applejack chuckled nervously, as well. "Yeah, I guess yer right." she said.
