For hundreds of thousands of years, humanity has been extinct, with most traces of their existence wiped from the knowledge of the world, save for a few ancient blueprints that soon became adopted to Equestrian lives, starting with the "Train" and moving up to the "Helicopter".

Deep in the caves below Canterlot, an ancient town, void of life, rests. The only sources of light within it is the glowing mushrooms that radiate a magic blue and green aura. Within one of the old, broken down houses, is a young man, untouched by age, and covered in a similar aura as the mushrooms. He was sleeping peacefully on a bed that looked as worn out as the town around him.

On the day that Nightmare Moon was saved by the Elements of Harmony, a shock-wave of a new kind of magic burst through the air, even affecting the towns on the other side of the world. The princess of the night has been saved; the ways of the world have changed, after a thousand years, as predicted from the stories in the Canterlot Archives.

One of the changes, however, was never foretold. When the shock-wave reached the town, the man's eyes slowly opened.

This is the first story of a possible recurring series I may work on. Somehow, this is also the first story I managed to complete for once! (Insert applause here.) The tags of the story pretty much explain the overall feeling I hope this entire series brings, and not just this individual story itself.

Important Note: If you're sensitive to death in any way, then the first chapter might give you the feels! That's not to say, however, that important details are in it, so if you wish for the full experience, minus the sadness, then I recommend you skip the scenes that make you sad, until you reach the "Time Skip" moments.

This series will have a non-anthro Pony/Human pairing, but not this story itself. The "Romance" tag is there for that reason. This book, of course, has a reference to the upcoming romance, but I won't say where! Can't spoil too much, after all!
