A Kings arrival is never silent...
“Jake, are you still trying to get into that costume!" Came the enraged shout of my dear sister.
"I'm trying to get the spikes on straight; the entire image is ruined if it's not done right!" I shouted back, pretty mad at both myself and her, myself because I was taking so long, and her for rushing perfection. You see, I was a huge fan of Godzilla, with His Majesty being my favorite, Final Wars, GMK, Zilla and 2014 being my favorite incarnations of him. It was even reflected in my name, Jake Gojira Johnson. I kid you not, my parents even named me after the big green king.
"And boys say that we girls take too long to get ready! Just get your scaly butt down here before I come up there and kick it down myself!" We really are the best of friends. Most people can't believe it, what with our differing personalities, Cody's being a constant swirl of differing emotions that made her a difficult enigma to get along with, and me usually being pretty good at keeping a calm and collected attitude, but becoming ticking time bomb when angry. Anyway, the thing we were arguing over was a costume that I had spent several weeks on following the release of the Godzilla 2014 trailers. I don't usually care what people thought about my appearance, but when it came to my namesake, well, not even the most serious fashion models could hold a candle to me.
"All right, already! I'm coming!" I shouted, grumbling to myself as I tugged the mask and spines in place, making sure they really were in the proper place before stomping out of the bathroom. My costume, like I said before, was one I had worked several weeks on, and I had added my own features to it that weren't on the original plans. I had added a frame of titanium made from the scrap metal that my dad threw away. It covered my back while the tail section of the frame went down to a third of the way down my rubber and cloth tail, but since the top layer was to thin, I had put another layer of rubber and padding over it, an unintentional bonus which caused me to mimic his walk and hunched over stature almost perfectly. The only thing I couldn't make in time was the light up frame I had intended to make for my spines, oh well, guess I'll just have to make it before Halloween.
"Finally! I was beginning to think you'd flushed yourself down to the ocean." My impatient sister was sitting at the bottom of the stairs, car keys in hand, and looking at me with a critical eye. "Wow! If I didn't know better, I would say that the King himself was in front of me."
I couldn't help but take pride in the way she praised my work. Apparently the weeks I had worked on this costume had been a success. I gave my impression of Godzilla's growl to her, and she gave an even bigger smile. "Alright, 'You’re Majesty’; let's get you to that party." She said, herding me to her car as she did so. The weather outside was very overcast, so we had to hurry unless we wanted to get rained on. I fumbled with the door handle a little before finally getting it open, my gloves getting a bit stuck in the narrow opening. I laid across the back seat, unable to sit up with the tail. Good thing too, otherwise I would've missed the shop. In the window was the perfect thing to complete the costume, a frame that was just the right shape for the lights. I got Cody to pull over and lumbered into the shop taking off my mask as I did so.
"Hello, good sir! That is a great costume if I do say so myself." The old man behind the counter greeted me enthusiastically.
“Thanks! Made it myself.” I said, inwardly squealing with joy at having weeks of hard work being recognized by someone other than my sister. Don’t get me wrong, I was glad that my sister acknowledged the fact that I had worked hard on the costume, but it was nice to hear that from someone who wasn’t there.
“You must have great talent, young man. I almost assumed that you bought that costume, but it looks too detailed to be store bought.”
I couldn’t help but swell with pride, but quickly snapped out of it when my sister started slamming the horn outside. "Sorry about that, but how much for the frame in the window?"
Looking back, the way his eyes lit up like that should've tipped me off, but I was in to much of a hurry to care. "Just $15. Your the first person to acknowledge that old thing. Then again, I did just find it in the storage area, so it was pretty much collecting dust anyway."
I got the money out of my wallet and paid for it. "Would you like help putting it on, sir?" The old man offered.
"Sure, thanks." I turned around and allowed him to clip it on. Thanking him again, I lumbered as fast as I could to the car and jumped in. Cody took off before I even closed the door.
"So, got the frame?" She asked.
I nodded my head, not trusting myself to open my mouth while my sister was driving like this. Wait, are those-oh, crap! I se bright flashes of red and blue in the rear view mirror as Cody got the cops attention, again. That would be the fifth time this month that she would get a ticket for reckless driving! That I have to pay! That's when I noticed something funny about that frame. It was glowing, and I hadn't turned it on. I felt a strange tugging sensation, then everything went white as I heard myself scream. Funny thing though, it almost sounded like Godzilla's roar.
In the Royal Castle of the Two Sisters, Celestia and Luna both heard and felt the impact of a massive object hitting the ground, along with a roar that made their blood freeze in their veins. Without a word both of them shot out of the new hole in the wall, streaking across the sky towards the source of the disturbance.
I groaned as I woke up, trying to shake the cobwebs out of my head. Then, the sound that had come out of my mouth finally registered. Well, it and the fact that the place that I was holding in pain had been nothing but rubber a few minutes ago. I shoot up as fast as I could, which wasn't very fast, and looked in all directions to find anything to see my reflection. It was then that I discovered that I was way bigger than before, as I was standing eye to eye with the mountain tops.
"What the!" I tried to say but all that came out was a low rumble. I looked down, and was struck speechless for the second time in less than less than two minutes. I was Godzilla! Every painstaking detail I had put into my costume was now real flesh and bone! Before I could really register this thought, I sensed something behind me. Turning around, I saw two, horses? Before I could attempt to say anything, the smaller blue one fired some sort of beam at me, starting a rivalry that would span across millennia,
