Sailor ponies!

Twilight was lounging in her bed and was snoozing blissfully. The sunlight was beaming through the open window and creating an orange glow on the bed. She rolled over and yawned. The violet unicorn sat up and looked at her alarm clock. The time read 8:10. Her eyes grew in horror. Oh no... She was late again! She hurredly pushed the duvet off her body and galloped over to the bathroom. She picked up the hairbrush in her magical aura and frantically combed her hair. She set the hairbrush down and levitated her toothbrrush. She squeezed the toothpaste onto her brush and wet it. She raised it to her teeth and started brushing. After a few minutes, she spat out the mixture into the sink and rinsed the sink out. Twilight ran over to her dresser and got out her uniform. She slipped it on and ran downstairs, nearly tripping over her saddlebag.

Her mom was cooking pancakes in the kitchen, her annoying litle brother playing with his game station and her dad reading the paper.

"Mom... why didn't you wake me up?!" Twilight groaned, hurredly packing her bag. "...late again" her dad muttered under his breath while turning the page over. Her mom set down a plate of toast.

" I tried to sweetie.. five times, in fact. But everytime i told you, you said you were getting up." Twilight sighed. She slipped the saddlebags over back and held the toast in her purple magic. She looked at the clock, 8:40. She ran to the door.  "Uh, bye mom! Got to go!" She galloped out of the door before she could get a response. ".. I don't understand that girl sometimes." Her mother sighed, before returning back to the housework.

Twilight was panting while hurredly rushing down the street.. " I cant be late again! miss H will kill me!" Twilight glanced over to her right. She saw young boys pulling a cat's tail and laughing. Twilight frowned and walked over to the troublesome boys.

" You boys better leave that cat alone right, now!" Twilight commanded. The young boys looked at twilight and at each other and scurried away. Twilight glanced down at the poor cat and bent down to stroke it. The silver-blue tabby cat was pawing at the bandages on its head. " You want me to take this off?" The cat looked at her with pleading eyes. She shrugged and took the bandage off with her magic. A cresent moon was emblased on the cats forehead. The unicorn thought it looked mysterious. She then remembered she was running late. " I need to get to school!" She quickly got up and started running to class. Boy, was miss Haruna going to be mad..

Twilight sat down in class, she lay her head down and sighed. Ponies from around the classroom were doodling and throwing scrunched up pieces of paper and chatting, not taking any notice of Miss Haruna's mini lecture. She half consciously watched miss H whine on about how algebra was important.

"... And this is why algebra is important and why you will use it in later life. Any questions?" Everyone groaned in response. The bell rang. Twilight sleepily packed her saddlebag, throwing in her pencil case and her book. She glanced over to the new girl. She was quite small and timid. She had a flowing magenta mane and a butter coat. Her cutie mark were 3 butterflies that formed a triangle shape and were of a pink hue. She had kind, bice blue eyes. She was packing her saddlebag, too. Twilight closed her bag and quietly trotted over to the filly.

"Hey, my names Twilight. Must be pretty scary transferring from another school, huh?" Twilight kindly smiled, expecting a response. The timid mare looked at her desk, fumbling with her hooves.

"... H-hi... My names.... fluttershy ..." She shrunk slightly under her desk. Twilight slightly cocked her head. her bright smile slowly faultering, the atmosphere felt very gawky.

" I'm sorry, could you say that again? I didn't quite catch that." Fluttershy looked at twilight with her deep turquoise eyes.

"My names... Fluttershy." Twilight heard her faintly and looked at the filly with affectionate eyes.

"So uhh.... You live a few streets down from me. Wanna walk home?" For a little while, there was silence as Fluttershy pondered the request of walking home with someone else. Normally, she would go down to Sugarcube Corner and get a treat for the way home and look after her bunny, Angel. She supposed a change from her normal routine would be nice. She looked up at Twilight and faintly smiled.

" I'd like that."

The two fillies were walking along the cobbled pathway. They were talking small talk and getting to know each other. Fluttershy talked about her love for animals and how she got her cutie mark while Twilight listened intently. "... So then my three butterflies appeared. I was so happy... I was one of the first in my class to get my cutie mark." She sighed. They stopped as they arrived outside Fluttershy's house.

Twilight walked her to her door and smiled goodbye as Fluttershy smiled back and gently closed the door. Tilight trotted down Mane Street. She felt happy that she had made a friend. She happily trotted up to her front steps and opened her door.

"... An F?! Again?! That's the 3rd time this month! I thought you studied last night with Rain Chaser! " Twilight kicked the floor with he front hoof. She mumbled.

"If by studying you mean staring at me for a full hour." Twilight slumped and her mother eyed her annoyingly.

" I don't want to hear another word coming from your mouth until you think about what you've done. Now go." Her mother turned sharpishly and trotted into the kitchen. Twilight noisily slammed her saddlebags down on the wooden floor and stomped up the steps noisily. She opened her bedroom door and slammed it shut. She turned off her bedroom light and climbed into her bed.
