Princess Twilight Sparkle has always liked to read. Much more than go outside that's for sure. But when her duties as a princess become more than just smiling and waving, the purple pony is having trouble finding time to just sit down and read. When her friend Rainbow Dash suggests a book to Twilight that she can't even read the title, Twilight refuses. Rainbow Dash is horror stuck by her friend. Twilight was the pony who showed Rainbow Dash the joys of reading, and Dash can't imagine what Twilight would be like without her books. But Rainbow Dash isn't giving up that easy! Now the athlete must show her friend that you can't judge a book by its cover, no matter how battered the book is.

Princess Twilight Sparkle, princess of friendship has always liked to read. But sadly enough, princess duties came first. Something the princess thinks her friend, Rainbow Dash, does not understand.

Rainbow Dash searched the crystal library castle where her friend, Twilight Sparkle, lived. The pegasus carried a book on her back, not letting in fall. The book was battered up enough already. In the main room, which held six chairs, Rainbow saw Twilight scribbling notes down on paper, holding a quill in her magical grasp.

"Twilight! You'll never believe how awesome this book is!" Rainbow Dash yelled, carrying the book on her back and raced across the room.

Twilight jumped and the quill fell to the ground, "Rainbow Dash!"

Rainbow stopped in front of her scowling friend, "Sorry, I just have this awesome book I found! I read it so, now you can read it too."

Twilight signed, the angry look on her face replaced by an annoyed one, "Rainbow, I thought I told you, I don't have much time to read anymore."

"Yeah, but you can make time to read this one, can't you? Twilight Sparkle loves to read, she can always make time to read."

"Let me see the book," Twilight said.

Rainbow Dash held the book out, and Twilight levitated it up to her face.

Twilight looked at the cover. The book was battered up, and dust covered it. The binding was tattered. Twilight couldn't even see the title or who it was even by. It was just a broken brown book. Most ponies wouldn't even think of reading it, let alone pick it up.

"What kind of book did you bring me?" Twilight asked.

"A really good book is what I have there," Rainbow Dash replied with a smile.

Twilight levitated the book to a near by desk. Then turned away from Rainbow Dash toward a book case, "Rainbow, my duties have become more important then just smiling and waving. I like to read, but when I can read-"

She paused.

"I wouldn't read such a tattered book, I don't have time."

Rainbow Dash's jaw dropped, "Wha-What!? Your Twilight Sparkle for feathering sake! You could read that book in a flash! Besides, you told me never to judge a book by its cover, what's your deal?"

Twilight turned, "I am not judging it!" she said, with her eyes closed and her muzzle in the air. "I am simply saying I don't have time to read, and I wouldn't be able to finish a book that thick, before I had to do something else. I'd forget what happened. I would never finish a book when I have to keep starting over."

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and muttered something.

"What was that?" Twilight said.

Rainbow looked at her, "If that's what you meant, then you should of said that."

"Didn't I?" Twilight asked.

"Not the first time," Rainbow Dash said.

Turning again, Twilight stalked away. "I'm sorry Rainbow Dash, I don't have time right now."

"But-"

"Don't Rainbow."

"But-"

"Goodbye Rainbow Dash."

Rainbow Dash growled and flapped her wings, zooming past the desk that held the book and grabbed it. Then jumped in front of Twilight, who had a different book in her magical grasp, Rainbow Dash smiled slightly, "Enough of this, it's time to finish what you started Sparkle."

Rainbow Dash grabbed the book from Twilight and zoomed away.

"Hey! Give that back, it's important!"

"You'll have to catch me then!" Rainbow Dash called.

Twilight flapped her wings, which she was finally getting used to, and raced after her friend. Twilight caught up with Rainbow Dash quite fast.

Rainbow Dash dodged a book case, which Twilight didn't, leading her to slam into it. Twilight slid down to the floor, with a small "thud."

Rainbow Dash stood a few feet away from Twilight on her left side, balancing her book on her wing, and Twilight's book laid in front of her hooves.

"Give up yet Sparkle?"

Twilight sat up and faced her friend, with a sigh she said, "I guess I could try to read your book, if you could do a few things for me."

"Alright!"

Twilight closed the book, and sighed, That was a good book, the alicorn thought. She levitated some paper in front of her, with a quill she began to write.

Dear Princess Celestia,

I know I you said I don't need to write you letters anymore, but this is something important my friend Rainbow Dash taught me today.

I had always knew not to judge a book by its cover, but with my new duties I had thought when I had time to read it should be a book worth reading. I finally gave into Rainbow Dash's persistence and read the book. It was worth the read, something I had thought before hand was a lie. The book is battered up, and you can't even see the title. You can probably see why I wouldn't read it then. Today I did not only re-learn not to judge a book by its cover, but that even if I taught my friend something I already knew, that they can teach you more meaning to it. And that is something I will never have to re-learn.

Twilight rolled up the letter, and said out loud. "Well I guess I should say sorry to Rainbow Dash while I find Spike."

Twilight levitated the book and the letter. And with that, she set off to find her two friends.
