Don't be Afraid of the Dark
"Come back here!" It yelled while it chased me down the hallway.
I've got to get this on film! I thought to myself. This will show her that investing in this asylum was a huge mistake! I pulled out my camcorder from my satchel, and switched it on. I was still running down this long corridor of doors, and empty rooms filled with blood. I turned back to see the monster still chasing me. I was scared out of my mind, my brain was thumping, and my heart was pounding. Part of me told me to put the camcorder away and just run, but I was here on royal demands.
The monster was carrying a chain with a hook at the end of it in it's right arm. It looked horribly disfigured and terrifying!
"Come back here you ungrateful bastard!" It yelled again while starting to charge at me. I managed to get a clear shot of it on my camcorder, but by the time I put it away to start sprint out of there, it caught up to me in the blink of an eye, and grabbed me by the back of the neck. He tossed me in the air hitting my head on the ceiling I cried out in pain, and fell to the ground like a life-less doll.
"Agh!" I cried out. It grabbed me by the neck again and lifted me this time, no tossing. He looked into my eyes with that single red eye of his, his other was shut tight. I grabbed its arms and tried to struggle my way out of its grasp.
"Looks like I finally caught you," It said lifting me to the light showing me off to the world, telling it that I was its prize. "Now lets have ourselves a little fun," It raised its chain and started to swing it, and right when it was about to slice me in half, a dash of pink rushed out from the room to my right and sliced the monsters belly open. It struggled to stay upright, and ended up letting go of me, and falling to the ground.
I looked to where the dash stopped and saw Patient #20973, well that's what it said on the casual patient uniform. She looked back, and walked up towards me. She sniffed me for some strange reason, and smiled.
"You're friendly," She giggled. I sighed of relief that she wasn't going to slice my belly open like that beast. She let out her hand for me to grab. She pulled me up and pointed to the third door on the left. "If you want to find out what that thing was go to that room, it holds all the information of this asylum. Do some reading, it'll help you survive this hell of a place, Trust me," She finished off while dashing towards the other way I was heading
"Wait! You mean that wasn't it!?" I cupped my mouth yelling at her.
"It? Ha that wasn't even half of it. Get out of here before I change my mind of letting you live!" She yelled back.
~Six Hours Earlier~
I had just finished a conversation over the phone with one of the Royal Guards. He had told me that Princess Celestia wanted me to check out an asylum she had invested in. He told me that all of the patients that have checked in, haven't checked out yet. Most of them have been in there for years. Being a fan of the supernatural I thought it might have something to do with the couple of other asylums that were previously built in that exact spot. I asked the name of the asylum so I would know if it was the exact asylum I was thinking about. They told me that it had been called "Asylum #51," It was the same one. I knew very little of this asylum, except for the fact that it was built on the same land a laboratory once stood that studied the criminally insane. There were stories that some of the doctors tortured the patients, even ended up killing some of them. So I did some more research on it.
I had found out that Asylum #51 is the product of years of rebuilding a single asylum. Before Asylum #51 was Asylum #1-50. Apparently the other fifty asylums that came before it were torn down because of some patients escaping. So the owners of this asylum had it torn down and rebuilt, every rebuild making the asylum more and more like a maze, to make sure no one could get out.
Once the fifty-first attempt had succeeded in stopping a patient from escaping, they stuck to it, and named it "Asylum #51". I had my satchel full of my equipment and was ready to embark on this mission. I hopped on over to the asylum, and took a quick picture with my camera. I looked at the picture I had just captured, and took notice of its design.
The front door was, at least, ten feet tall. the building itself was probably twenty-four feet, judging that it has three rows of windows. A three story building, pretty big to just be an insane asylum. A couple of the lights were on, I'm guessing maybe only a third of the rooms in this building are being used. A bit strange, why build such a huge framework of wood and stone? It's not just to keep patients from escaping.
If they wanted to do that, why not install more security features, not build such a superstructure as this. Install more cameras, hire more staff, doors that can only be locked from the outside, build an electric fence around it perhaps. I put my camera away in my satchel, and continued to walk up towards the door. I knocked on the door, and one of the doctors that works here greeted me in.
"Hello. Are you a visitor?" He asked me.
"No, I'm just here on an official order by the princess herself," I told him. He gave a look of worry, and went back to his quirky smile.
"Oh, OK. I'm assuming you want a tour around the asylum?"
"No, I am quite capable of escorting myself around this building," I smiled back at him. He bowed at me, and escorted me to the main hallway of this building.
"I am sorry, but since we weren't expecting a reporter from Celestia, we must escort all the patients to their rooms. If you don't mind waiting in this room here," He said while pointing to a room with a sign next to the door that said "Waiting Room," he told me to wait here for him to come back, so I did. The doctor left the room, but the second he turned around, his white lab coat flicked up and revealed blood stains under it. My eyes widened, but I just thought it was maybe an attack this doctor had gone through in this asylum. It is an insane asylum, so the doctors have to expect getting attacked once in a while
~Thirty Minutes Later~
I was reading one of the magazines the reception room had, when I heard it. A scream, a bloodcurdling scream coming from upstairs. I thought it was just one of the patients losing it in here, as usual, but this time was different. It sounded like a scream of pain. When it faded, I heard another scream from my left, my right, behind me, and below me! All around me, screaming, yelling, it didn't stop. I looked around every which way where the screams were coming from. I was able to make one of the many screams out. It sounded like it said "Help me! Someone!" It sent chills down my spine.
This is what I came for, some bloodcurdling evidence that mysterious events are happening here! I got up, and headed out the reception room. I looked down each way of the hallway waiting for another scream. I got what I wanted. I heard a scream of extreme pain coming from the left. I pulled out my camcorder, and batteries from my satchel. Only five batteries ... it won't be enough to get hard evidence of this place. Hopefully there are some more around here.
I popped a battery into the camcorder, and switched it on. I hit the record button, and started heading down the hallway.
Let the investigating begin ...
Don't be Afraid of the Dark
I followed the scream down the hallway to a room numbered "#148," but once I was right outside the room, the screaming of pain and agony had stopped. I heard running down the way I came from. I panicked thinking it was one of the tortured souls in this hell hole of a mental institution. I turned and saw a desk next to another room, so I hid under it. Thankfully there were a couple of holes in the piece of wood in front of me.
I peeked through, and saw the same doctor that had me stay in the room from before. My panic was relieved, and I got out from under the desk to greet him. He must have saw me getting out from under there, and turned right to me.
"What are YOU doing here?! I told you to wait in the reception room!" He said, clearly sounding annoyed. We heard the scream coming from the room I was heading to, we both looked at the door, and he turned to me. "I am sorry, but you must leave," he told me.
"Might I ask why? I came here to investigate the operations of this facility, and mysterious goings-on, so why must I leave?" I asked him trying to reason with him.
"Please you must leave we have this under control, we will calm this patient down, but please leave," He said while pointing down the hall to the front door.
I obeyed and left the asylum. I looked back to this strange building, the night sky making it pop as if it wants attention. I remembered where room #148 was located, and managed to snatch a map of the asylum, and turned around towards the asylum once again. I went around the back and looked around to find a way in. No backdoor, no balcony, nothing. All I saw was a pipe going up the side of the building, right next to an open window on the third floor.
"Aha!" I laughed in triumph, as I headed for the pipe and began to scale it. I climbed to the opened window and crawled my way inside, trying to sneak past anyone I came across. I managed to slip past a couple of guards that were on duty, and I was also able to steal a flashlight. I needed it because most of this asylum wasn't even lighted, and was dark as a deep cave. I took out my map and took a look at it. I saw that there was a vent next to me and if I followed it, it can get me to my destination without problems.
I walked over to the vent and pulled it out from its place without making much noise. I crawled into this little space. I took another look at the map, and followed a certain ventilation system towards the first floor. I banged my head against the ceiling of the vent, and thankfully no a soul heard it. I was on top of room #150 when I heard it. Someone singing a little song to themselves. At first he was mumbling, but he started to twiddle his fingers and I was able to make out the lyrics of his little song.
Blood and Bones,
Blood and Bones,
I like to see blood and bones,
Blood and Bones,
Blood and Bones,
Let me see you blood and bones,
Blood and Bones,
Blood and Bones,
Let me eat your blood and bones.
He stopped and started to sniff the air, then gave a little grin. He continued his song ...
Blood and Bones,
Blood and Bones,
He stopped again looking up towards the vent,
Let me rip out your blood and bones!
He yelled finishing his song and tearing open the vent and pulling me down.
"Ah!" I yelled, hitting the cold hard cement ground. I looked up at him in terror. "What are you doing?!" I asked him as he picked me up form the ground.
"Did you like my little song? Wrote it myself. If you didn't know, I like blood and bones. I like the sight of those white bones soaked in blood, it makes me feel rushed. I enjoy the sight so much! I haven't seen blood and bones in years!" He said while raising his hand. I saw claws, claws sharp enough to rip through flesh with ease. His left eye twitching with insanity. He was wearing a jacket with jeans. It seems the doctors let them wear regular clothes so the patients don't feel completely insane I'm guessing. I looked at his expression, it was one of joy, but regret. Was he going to kill me? Then, he swings his arm towards me, and pats me on the head. This confused me until he opened his mouth again. "And you're going to help me see them, and burn this place to the ground. Let me out of this room, and I'll leave you alone. Leave me, and next time they let me out I'll hunt you down!"
He put me down, and pointed to the vent, then looked at me. I don't what it was, the threat or something inside me, but my mind was set on letting him out. It seemed right for some reason. I climbed through the vent and looked at him. He nodded at me and I nodded back. He gave a smile a child would when they would get a giant plushie. I kicked the vent next to the room door open and crawled out. I saw the door knob and saw that it seems they are looked from the outside with a iron slide. I slid the door open, and let him out. He walked out and smiled at me. He patted my head and ran off opening all the other doors, and yelling something I can barely make out.
"Watch out for the robotics engineer! He isn't human! He's also the assistant warden!" He yelled back. I heard someone over the intercom with a robotic voice.
"Patient #150 has escaped and has released the other patients! Closest staff report to hallway #10 and capture him and the others! I am on my way to assist in the capture as well!"
I heard running down the hall and found somewhere to hide. The guards ran past me "Quickly we have to capture them before Hektor arrives! Go! Go! Go!" He said while guiding everyone down the other way of the hall. I decided to follow them to see if I can get some footage on their harshness.
A secret doorway opened near the cafeteria, and out came some white smoke. I saw someone walking out of it. He looked half robotic, and half human. He carried a staff with a blue jewel at the tip. Out came some robotic peacemakers, robots with the power of a techno core, as well. He walked down the hall way with the peacemakers.
"Looks like we have another participant for the glorious evolution! Haha!" He laughed, with his dark brown cape swaying. He looked back all of a sudden. His robotic eye went from a blue glow to a red one. "Scan failed ... intruder inbound ..." He said while pointing to the peacemakers to continue down the hall. He walked down towards me. He acted like he didn't know where I was.
I began to breath heavily as he got closer.
"Join me intruder. I am giving you a gift for succeeding in infiltrating this facility. Replace all your petty emotions, and join the the revolution! A glorious EVOLUTION!" He yelled while walking towards me even more, the sound of creaking metal and steel echoed in the hall. He raised his staff and pointed it at me. I looked at his pin and saw the name ...
"Hektor"
